Colorado's Tracy, LA's Scioscia Managers Of The Year
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy and Los Angeles Angels skipper Mike Scioscia were named managers of the year on Wednesday by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
Tracy, who took over the Rockies in late May when they were in last place, led Colorado to the National League wild card berth.
Scioscia, who also received the award in the Angels' 2002 World Series title season, guided them to a third straight AL West title.
Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was runner-up in the voting for the second year in a row, with Joe Girardi of the New York Yankees finishing third in the American League vote.
St Louis Cardinals skipper Tony La Russa, a four-time winner, finished second to Tracy in the National League, with Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre third.
