Billy Bob Thornton: ‘Creepy’ ads prepared me for ‘Fargo’

Billy Bob Thornton turned to Craigslist’s creepy Missed Connections listings to help him perfect his conscience-free killer Lorne Malvo in dark TV drama “Fargo.”

The site offers shy singles who think they may have spotted their soulmate at a local cafe, restaurant or delicatessen, the chance to seek them out anonymously online.

And Thornton insists it’s the perfect place to study for psychopaths.

He says, “I studied up on this Craigslist Missed Connections thing… I appreciate them because they’re character studies and they’re great audition pieces for playing psychopaths.”

To prove his point, he read a couple during a recent taped appearance on “The Arsenio Hall Show,” which aired on Monday night.

One was titled “beautiful girl working at UCLA dining hall”, while the second, from one man to another, began, “Hey bud, you swaggered in around 3pm… you eyeball (expletive) me while you stood in line.”
