R&B legend Charlie Wilson is not afraid to put rapper Kanye West in his place, insisting he tells him to “sit down and be quiet” when the outspoken star’s ego gets too big.

The Gap Band singer has worked with the “Stronger” hitmaker on both his “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” and “Yeezus” albums, and West is even producing Wilson’s next record.

Through their frequent collaborations, Wilson admits he feels comfortable enough to call out West if he becomes too outspoken.

Wilson reveals, “When he does something wrong, I’m the first one to tell him that he’s wrong, ‘Sit down and be quiet.’ I’m not patting him on his back… I don’t care if you don’t like it or not.”

While Wilson may not always agree with West’s opinions, he commends the rapper on is his one-of-a-kind skills in the studio.

He adds, “I don’t embrace some of the things that he does, and some of the stuff he does, I do embrace, which is music. He’s good at that. Sometimes it gets a little out of hand, and sometimes he just says, ‘I’m gonna do this kind of music just to inspire people.’ OK then, say that.”
