When Santa Claus falls off his roof, Scott Calvin unwittingly inherits the job. This skinny Santa must then deal with physical and emotional transitions while in the middle of a heated custody battle. This comedy raises some serious issues while keeping things light. This is a great movie for the whole family, and may help you recapture the childlike magic of Christmas.

The Nightmare Before Christmas | 76 min | PG
Starring: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O’Hara, William Hickey, Ken Page

Is this a Christmas movie, or a Halloween movie? We’re still not sure so we watch it for both holidays! In one of Tim Burton’s best films, Jack Skellington is the star of Halloween Town but he feels unfulfilled. When he stumbled into Christmas Town for the first time he’s delighted with all he sees and sets out to improve on Christmas in his own special (and terrifying) way. With the help of his fellow Halloween Town residents, Jack kidnaps Santa Claus and makes the Christmas Eve toy run himself.

19. Die Hard (1988)

Die Hard | 131 min | R
Starring: Brue WIllis, Alan Rickman, Reginald VelJohnson, Bonnie Bedelia

Die Hard may be the most epic Christmas movie of all time! Yes, I said Christmas movie, because John McClaine (Willis) isn’t the only person who crashes his ex-wife’s work holiday party. When a group of German terrorists hold the group hostage, McClaine must swing in to save the day. While the focus may be on his bare feet and the classic one liners don’t forget this movie takes place on Christmas. Yippie-Kai-Yay Mother Father!

20. Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

Original Santa Claus and Rudolph puppets from the TV special "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," are seen on display at the Time and Space Toys booth during the Mid-Ohio-Con comic book convention in Columbus, Ohio, Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007. Kevin Kriess, owner of the Pittsburgh, Penn., store found the puppets and had them restored after they were used as toys.
