BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Eleventh seed Dayton has reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament by stunning No. 3 Syracuse 55-53.

The Flyers held on after Jordan Sibert hit a 3-pointer with 44 seconds left to put them ahead 52-46. Dyshawn Pierre scored 14 points for Dayton, which next faces either Kansas or Stanford in the South Regional semifinals Thursday in Memphis.

A pair of Big 10 teams barely avoided upsets in the NCAA tournament.

Frank Kaminsky scored 19 points and second seed Wisconsin rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit to beat No. 7 Oregon 85-77 and advance to the regional semifinals. Fourth seed Michigan State blew a 16-point lead and trailed late in the second half before pulling out an 80-73 win over No. 12 Harvard.

No. 2 Michigan is in the NCAA’s Sweet 16 after Nik Stauskas contributed 17 points and eight assists in a convincing 79-65 win against Texas.

Scottie Wilbekin scored 21 points and top seed Florida stretched its school-record winning streak to 28 games by silencing ninth seed Pittsburgh 61-45. Patric Young added seven points and eight rebounds for the Gators, who play again Thursday in the NCAA regional semifinals at Memphis.

Also in Orlando, Louisville was a 66-51 winner against Saint Louis as Luke Hancock delivered 21 points for the defending national champs.

Xavier Thames poured in 30 points and No. 4 San Diego State reached the regional semifinals for the second time in school history by whipping North Dakota State 63-44.

Second seed Villanova is done after Connecticut’s Shabazz Napier pumped in 25 points to lead a 77-65 triumph over the Wildcats.

After four days of upsets and buzzer beaters, Arizona (32-4) closed out the NCAA tournament’s first weekend with a display of domination. The Wildcats harassed the eighth-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (29-7) into 21 turnovers — 15 on steals — that led to 31 points.

Arizona led by 21 in the first half and continued to work over Gonzaga to earn its third trip to the Sweet 16 in four years.

Isaiah Austin and Brady Heslip each scored 17 points and Baylor shut down Creighton’s Doug McDermott with suffocating defense, ending the career of the one of the most prolific scorers in college history with an 85-55 win Sunday night in the NCAA tournament West Regional.

Baylor’s size and speed overwhelmed the third-seeded Bluejays (27-8) and their national scoring leader, earning a third trip to the Sweet 16 since 2010.
