Governor to sign bills into law

Gov. Maggie Hassan is signing a new law named after 9-year-old Joshua Savyon who was killed by his father in a case of domestic violence. Hassan is signing Joshua’s Law in a private ceremony today. The domestic violence bill was introduced following Joshua’s death. He was shot to death by his father during a supervised visit at the Manchester YWCA.

In addition, the Governor is expected to sign legislation this morning that would criminalize financial abuse of elderly, disabled or otherwise impaired adults The Concord Monitor reporting the bill is meant to curb what proponents view as one of the fastest growing and least reported injustices in the state.
