Storm closing schools and forcing parking bans

Storm closing schools and forcing parking bans

Dozens of crashes and dangerous conditions outside! Big snow and below zero nighttime temperatures for the Northeast. Snow has been falling on and off all day but the worst of it is expected tonight into Friday. 10 to 12 inches of snow expected by tomorrow morning!

Boston’s Logan International Airport will shut down tonight because of the nasty weather. All airlines are canceling flights as of 8:30 p.m. However, I spoke with Tom Malafronte from Manchester Boston Regional Airport and he says the airport will remain open. There are some flights, specificially Southwest that will be arriving tonight and leaving tomorrow. As always, if you’re scheduled to fly tonight, check with the airlines before you leave your home.

Parking bans are in place for:  Goffstown from now until 3pm Friday, Manchester 10pm – 6am Friday, Nashua from now until 8am Friday, Pembroke 7pm – 6am, and Somersworth from now until 5pm Friday.

Rice replaces ice in India bucket challenge

An Indian school boy eats a midday meal provided free at a government school in Hyderabad, India, Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. India has offered free midday school meals since the 1960s in an effort to persuade poor parents to send their children to school, a program that reaches some 120 million children. The country now plans to subsidize wheat, rice and cereals for some 800 million people under a $20 billion scheme to cut malnutrition and ease poverty.

The famous "ice bucket" challenge is inspiring thousands of Indians to follow suit, but with a twist - they are replacing ice with rice to help the country's hungry people.
