Following the hit-and-run death of a former fire chief in Amherst and a fatal accident involving a 30 year old mother of three from Brookline, fire officials are once again warning drivers about the dangers of distracted driving. Last week, former Amherst Fire Chief John Bachman was struck by a car and killed. The Union Leader reporting it appears that the driver of the vehicle,20-year oldf Travis Hobbs, 20, of Mont Vernon, may have been texting or checking his phone when he hit Bachman. Then on Christmas Eve morning Katie Hamilton was killed when a pickup struck rear-ended her and sent her into a path of an oncoming truck.
