Kathryn “Kat” McDonough of Portsmouth entered a guilty plea this afternoon to charges including hindering apprehension or prosecution related to the death of 19-year-old UNH sophomore Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott last October. The 19-year-old was sentenced to three-and-half to seven years in prison with 18-months to three years to be served. Thirty-year-old Seth Mazzaglia of Dover has been charged with murder. Prosecutors allege Mazzaglia and McDonough disposed Marriott’s body at Peirce Island in Portsmouth.
“The Portsmouth Herald” also reports Marriott’s family released a statement protesting McDonough’s sentence. Their attorney says they believe the sentence is “disproportionate to her involvement.”
