The Manchester City Health Department has issued a heat advisory as temperatures are forcasted to continue to soar into the 90′s over the next few days. In addition to staying cool, health officials say to drink plenty of fluids and make sure to replace salt and minerals in your diet as well as wearing appropriate clothing and sunscreen. A couple of cooling centers are also open in the city — one is located at the William Cashin Senior Center, the other is at the Manchester City Library. In addition, Manchester’s 4 public swimming pools are open as well as the beach at Crystal Lake. Officials are warning swimmers to avoid swimming in local rivers. The recent heavy rains have caused dangerous currents. And because of the extreme heat, Manchester City Schools have cancelled all of the day activities today.
