Busy week in Concord

House and Senate negotiators will continue work this week to reach agreement on a new state budget. Issues still to be resolved include how to fund the ten-point-seven-billion-dollar spending plan, and whether to expand Medicaid under the federal health care law. The deadline to reach a compromise agreement is this Thursday. The budget for the next two-year fiscal period starts on July first.

House and Senate negotiators will try to reach an agreement this week on access to medical marijuana. The Senate has rejected a House proposal to let chronic and terminally ill people grow the drug at home. Medical marijuana is currently legal in 18 states including all the other New England states.
