Education funding hearings

The House Education Committee held hearings today on a pair of education funding amendments.  One would let the legislature give local government the authority to establish schools at local expense.  The other says the legislature is authorized to set public education standards statewide.  Both amendments say only the legislature can determine how much money the state will spend on education.
