Prices may rise on packs of cigarettes

It may soon cost more to buy cigarettes in New Hampshire.  On Wednesday, the House of Representatives approved raising the tobacco tax by 20-cents.   Opponents say the tax is bad for businesses along the state border and is regressive, since the poor smoke at higher rates.  Supporters say it’s still the lowest cigarette tax in the region and discouraging certain behaviors, particularly kids smoking, is the goal.
