Judy Volk

“She isn’t just involved in her community, she is immersed in her community.” That is how Shelby describes Judy Volk, or Miss Judy, as she is known by her students at the Bedford Martial Arts Academy. She is the General Manager and Karate Mom to a couple hundred students and has worked to develop programs that go way beyond kicking and punching. Some of those include teaching children how to effectively deal with bullies and to redirect and diffuse that behavior, self-defense classes for women, and providing classes to children with adaptive needs or who just need some direction. Judy also uses that time to be a role model in service to the community by donating over 1500 school supplies to Manchester schools as part of the Back to School Drive, raising money for Easter Seals, donating Christmas presents to kids in foster care, and contributing to an Easter Egg Hunt to help raise funds for finding a cure for Batten’s Disease. Judy is always working on a new way to help others in need in the hopes of bettering the life of a child.
