Shirley Gordon
Shirley Gordon

EMPOWERED.  Cheryl Kearney describes Shirley as tireless in her efforts to educate people about Alzheimer’s disease through her own personal story.  Her husband Mike was diagnosed with this devastating disease that robs people of their memories and their lives.  Shirley confronted the disease head-on, calling the Alzheimer’s Association and participating in services and education programs to help her understand Mike’s journey.  Her experience ignited a passion within, motivating Shirley to do everything in her power to help eliminate this disease and to reach out to others experiencing the same difficult path.  She is an impressive fundraiser through her participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and serves on the Alzheimer’s Board of Directors.  She is also a facilitator of the Memory Lane Café, which is a program for those with memory impairment and their caretakers.  Shirley has made it her personal mission to learn everything she can to make her and Mike’s life the best it can be, as well as to educate the families that are in need.  She is an advocate with compassion, energy, and a truly caring nature.
