FERRY GOES TECHNO

Pop star BRYAN FERRY is planning a music reinvention - he has teamed up with German techno icon DJ HELL to record a new track. The crooner initially recruited Hell to remix an old song he recorded with his former band Roxy Music, but when the pair hit the studio together, they decided to create an entirely new track - using material Ferry had worked on, but never released. The resulting single, U Can Dance, is due for release early next year (10) and will be accompanied by a video directed by Jo Apps, the sister of British singer Patrick Wolf.

JACKSON'S RECORDINGS SUBJECT OF CREDITOR'S CLAIM

MICHAEL JACKSON was recording a new musical when he died in June (09), according to the bosses of a sound equipment company who claim they have a stockpile of unreleased material. Executives at Audio 4 Video Digital, Inc. claim they were working on Jackson's music up until his death - part of a long relationship between the two parties. The claim emerged in a lawsuit Audio 4 Video Digital is filing against Jackson's estate for $736,502 (£460,315) in unpaid rent for the use of their equipment "in connection with the making of a musical", reports TMZ.com. The late entertainer is listed as the performer and the producer of the spectacle in invoices dated up until his death on 25 June (09). Company bosses are using the lawsuit to claim co-ownership of the songs, along with the Jackson estate. It is the latest in a long line of creditors' claims against the Jackson estate in recent months. Jackson's former choreographer LaVelle Smith Jr. alleged in October (09) he is still owed $144,500 (£96,300) by the administrators of the singer's fortune, and in September (09) alone, officials were hit with non-payment suits from an accounting firm, a Las Vegas security business and a hairstylist.

BOY GEORGE INSPIRED BY WINEHOUSE

Shamed singer BOY GEORGE penned a track about AMY WINEHOUSE while he was in prison earlier this year (09). The former Culture Club frontman, real name George O'Dowd, was jailed in January (09) for the false imprisonment and assault of male escort Audun Carlsen in 2007. He served just four months of his 15 month sentence and was released in May (09) for good behaviour - but he spent his time behind bars working on new music. And O'Dowd reveals he was inspired by troubled singer Winehouse when he was writing new song Your Pain Makes A Beautiful Sound. He tells Britain's The Times newspaper, "When I was away (in prison), I wrote a lot of stuff, which will be released next year. I wrote a diary and songs. I got into trouble because I wrote on the wall: 'Some things are past understanding, you just need a place to land.' "It was part of a lyric. I actually wrote a song about Amy when I was in prison."

LAUPER'S VIDEO DAD DEAD AT 76

Wrestling icon CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO, who played CYNDI LAUPER's dad in the GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN video, has died. He was 76. Albano began his fighting career in the 1950s and was one half of The Sicilians tag team in the 1960s. He joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 1983 and was inducted into the sport's Hall of Fame in 1996. Albano was also a successful manager of champion wrestlers in the 1970s. His persona earned him the distinction of being "one of the most hated men" in wrestling for 15 years, according to a WWE biography. He was turned into a cartoon in the late 1980s when he signed up to become the voice of Mario 'Jumpman' Mario for The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!

MADONNA SUED BY NEIGHBOR

MADONNA is at the center of a lawsuit from a neighbor who has accused the singer of turning her New York City home into a rehearsal space. Karen George, who lives above the Material Girl in an apartment complex, is fed up with the loud music coming from the singer's home, according to the lawsuit she filed Friday (16Oct09) in Manhattan Supreme Court. George is also suing the members of the building's board, who she alleges have not done enough to quell the loud activity. The lawsuit states, "Madonna and one or more of her invited guests repeatedly dance to unreasonably high-decibel, amplified music, causing noise and vibration through the walls, ceilings and radiators."

SICK MICHAELS SCRAPS SHOW

POISON frontman BRET MICHAELS has become the latest star to fall victim to the influenza outbreak - the sick rocker has scrapped a show in Georgia. Michaels was due to play a solo gig at Club H20 in Columbus, Georgia on Thursday night (08Oct09) but fans were left disappointed when the concert was cancelled just hours before the star was due to take the stage. The rocker apologised to fans and asked for their "support and understanding" as he recovers. A post on Michael's official website reads, "Unfortunately due to a case of the flu tonight's Bret Michaels performance at Club H20 has been postponed until further notice. Thanks for your support & understanding!" Backstreet Boys star Brian Littrell was quarantined in a New York hotel after falling ill with swine flu on a flight from Japan to the U.S. last weekend (03Oct09), while actor David Boreanaz forced the shut down of his Bones TV show after he was diagnosed with influenza.
