Blog?! I'm an interactive woman this should be fun! Hi my name is Heather and I AM an Internet junkie. Thats right, after spending hours in front of computers at work I still want to surf at night. It helps that my husband is a computer nerd. I personally couldn't defrag a computer if my life depended upon it. Being a "surfer" I have blogged on MySpace, left notes on Facebook and of course just left comments on every type of board from weight loss to mothers of preemies.
But now its my turn! Well OUR turn! My hope is that this blog will become a weekly stop on your surf. One where you can feel free to let me know what you think. Feel free any time to email me heather@wzid.com.

Today is the first day of school for my son. I don't know who is more nervous him or me. We had a wonderful weekend to "end" summer. Saturday we went to one of the best pool parties ever. It's not everyday that you go to a party and see Al Kaprilin talking weather with Josh Judge. Or the Super Secret Project sings their Internet hit "NH State Of Mind". It was amazing.
Yesterday was a chill day. Since today is the first day of school I knew that my son need a down day. We went to the farm stand and got some fresh corn and tomatoes then grilled them. So yummy!
8/9/10
I keep trying to blog more then once a week but it's been so busy! this weekend was another amazing one. We went mini golfing and swimming. This week looks jam packed too!
Tomorrow night is the season finally of Hells Kitchen. You may have heard me talk about the guy I want to win. His name is Jay and he is from Somersville Mass. If you have only seen the previews he is the guy with the blue hair. I have been lucky enough to have found him on facebook and we have been chatting. He is a really nice guy, very smart, and a very quick wit. So if you can please watch tomorrow nights Hells Kitchen and send good thoughts his way. GOOD LUCK Jay!!!!!
Night is Woman After Work at T Bones in Derry! I love doing these events. Usually Tracy does them but she is on vacation today so I am filling in. Tonight we are going to learn how to make baby back ribs with Chef Nicole. Plus they gave me a TON of tickets and gift certs to give a way. Don't forget tonight 5-7!
8/2/10
I want to than everyone who came out to the Amherst Walmart on Saturday. Citizens Bank and WZID have teamed up to collect gear for grades. If you missed us you can still make a donation. Drop off new school supplies at any NH Citizens bank by this Friday.
After work my son and I went to a friends house and used their pool. In fact we were dog sitting so we used their pool all weekend. Wow I didn't even know those muscles could hurt. Right now I can't lift my arms over my head. But it was so much fun. Yesterday we also went to the movies. They forced me to watch Cats and Dogs. My opinion? Wait till it comes out on dvd.
So this Thursday is my husbands birthday and I have NO clue what to get him. Any ideas? 7/26/10
Hope you had a great weekend! I did.
Belle Aimee med spa was fun. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. Beautiful spa! Check them out and tell them I sent you.
Saturday after work my son and I headed over to a friends house for an impromptu to pool party. Oh I love summer. We had such a great time. Summer and the heat are a great excuse to get together with friends and have a bbq.
Sunday was a family day. I am so proud of myself because I am done with back to school shopping. Josh has all the clothes he needs and all the supplies too! Talking about supplies join me this Saturday at the Amherst Walmart as we are collecting Gear of Grades with Citizens bank. I LOVE buying back to school supplies and if you do to or you have extra, drop them off with us this Saturday so we can get them to kids in need before school starts.

Another fantastic weekend! Had a great time. Spend some time with the family and some friends. My 8 year old went on a play date with one of his friends that he hasn't seen since the end of school. They are so cute. She is smart and sweet. Yes my son had a play date with a girl. It is so cute cause they have known each other since they were 4. The best part is that my husband had never met her father and they got along great! It's so funny watching the kids play and the fathers "talking man". That is what I call it. You know when they talk cars and work and home improvements. Great times!
We did go out shopping and I saw the back to school products. I ADORE back to school products. The pencils. The blank pages of a notebook just waiting for a creative story or mind bending math problem. We find that every year we OVER buy back to school stuff. Its so easy with the fantastic deals out there. So if your like us please drop the extra products at your local Citizens bank for Gear of Grades. They will then be given to kids who need them. More details on our main page.

George Steinbrenner is dead. This is shocking. As someone born and raised in NY State I brought up thinking that the Yankees where the greatest team ever. Being New Englanders I know that it's like that here but with the Sox. My mother LOVED the Yankees. The game was always on in the summer. Phil Rizzuto calling all the plays, Don on first, Dave in the right field. It was as natural as a spring rain. Today is the end of an era. Steinbrenner ran a tight ship. Love him or hate him, he beleived that ballplayers should look proper. With hair cuts, clean uniforms and no earrings. He didn't like shinanigans. He loved the game. It's a sad day in NY today and a sad day for baseball.

Happy Monday! I was wicked busy last week. Getting back to work plus filling in for the afternoon news and traffic was kind of hectic but good. Now some of you saw me on WMUR doing the traffic updates. It was nerve racking! I am a radio girl. Want some behind the scenes details. Here you go. Around 5 I had to go in to our newsroom and email WMUR with all the traffic details. Then turn on the camera and put the earpiece and mic on. At that point I can hear the news and see it live on a monitor on top of camera. The WMUR producer talks to me to tell me how long it will be before I go live. They ask me to give them a mic check. This way they know how loud I am going to be. Then I get a nice intro from who ever is live on the news. I am on camera less then 40 seconds, it goes to the traffic map, then back to me for less then 30 seconds and I am done. The "live shot" takes less then 3 minutes. Still it is nerve racking!
Well it's back to "normal" this week!

My summer vacation, by Heather Bishop. Sorry I just had a flashback to grade school. My summer vacation. I had such high hopes....HAD. First off it started well. We traveled to upstate NY to my sister in laws wedding. I cried. Heather, yes her name is Heather also. Heather married her highschool sweatheart and is now an army wife. She was gorgous. The wedding was amazing. Now she and her husband Matt are in Alaska untill he gets shipped over seas.
The night of the wedding my other in laws came and got Josh for his "summer camp". He stays with both sets of in laws (hubby's parents are divorced and remarried) for 2 weeks each summer. It's the highlite of the summer. Josh gets spoiled rotten and hubby and I get some guilt free alone time. Well not this year. I woke up the day after the wedding not feeling well. So instead of going to Boston for a romantic weekend we ended up coming home. I was sick! Fever, chills, horrible sore throat. Come to find out I had strep! So my wonderful romantic vacation was extended into a fever filled bed rest. So that was my summer vacation. Stuck on the couch, not able to talk or eat watching really bad tv. Good part was hubby was there to take care of me.
So Josh is home and at day camp, I am feeling better and hopefully sometime this summer we will get a FUN weekend!
6/21/10
The word of the weekend was sunscreen....
First my poor 8 year old had an allergic reaction to some old sunscreen. Here is a tip, if you used it last summer through it out. Sunscreen is a perishable. Poor little man has a rash all over his face.
Second, not all sunscreens are water proof. Yeah if you see me DON'T touch my shoulders. Ouchy!
We went to a friends graduation party Saturday and spent 3 hours in the pool and my shoulders are burnt. But we had a great time so I guess it was worth it!
It's a short week for me here at work. I have to go out to Upstate NY for my sister in laws wedding. I love and hate going on vacation. So much has to be done both at work and home. My house is ALWAYS cleanest BEFORE I go on vacation. We always have a house sitter stay at the house and I ALWAYS feel the need to clean my house before we leave. I'm just so scared the house sitter is going to think I am a slob so I over clean. So that is what I will be doing this afternoon after work.
6/15/10
I love Jimmy Dunn. Did you catch him on with Mike and Tracy this morning? Then you might understand why. He is wicked funny, nice, smart and honestly very cute. If you can check Jimmy out when he plays the Palace this Friday.
Want a behind the scenes story on another reason why I love Jimmy so much? A few years ago he had a comic friend named Knoxy. The guy had an aggressive cancer. Being a comedian unless your in the big time you don't make a lot of money and you DON'T have health care. So Jimmy and some of his other comic friends like Tony V did a big benefit for Knoxy. Let me tell you this man has a huge heart. Plus like I said he is WICKED funny...and extremely adorable.
6/14/10
Friday night my husband and I went out. This is a big deal because between our schedules it's impossible to find time. Plus we found a sitter so it was truly meant to be. First we went to Gaucho's which was so good! Then over to Boynton's Taproom for some hilarious comedy! It was a great time.
Saturday we went to Rock n ribfest. WOW. It was a little rainy but worth it. Oh we ate, and ate and ate. And the music! Fantastic! Josh loved the jumpy houses and it wore him right out. It was a really fun time.
Today is Flag day and my 13th anniversary. 13 years ago today I married my best friend.

One of the perks of my job is sometimes, not all the time, sometimes I get
to meet someone famous. Last night was one of those times. If you have never
had the pleasure of a meet and greet, I might burst your bubble. Seriously
you might want to stop reading. Everyone worries about what they are going
to wear, what to say. Don't worry, because meet and greets last only a few
minutes. first off you have to stand in line. That is IF you get lucky to
get meet and greet passes. Now I've met Weird Al (really really really nice
and spend a few minutes with each person, that is NOT the norm) Don Mclean
(a hand shake) and Bryan Adams.
First off if you took you kid to a dentist in Concord yesterday afternoon
you may have seen Bryan in a dentist chair. He had chipped his tooth earlier
in the 7:30 show. Then told it was pushed back to 7:40 and the meet and
greet would be short or might not even happen. Then there is a lot of
waiting. And waiting. Finally we were taken up to the back of the stage.
Here is the difference for me, at that point the manager is going over the
rules of what you can and can't do when meeting Bryan and I am ushered out
on to the stage to do the opening announcements. By the way I LOVE being on
the stage. LOVE it, and the CCA is an amazing stage to be on. When we got
done doing opening announcements we walk off stage and right in to the group
getting their pics taken with Bryan. The manager looked at us and his watch.
"Get at the end of the line, I'll see if we can fit you in" he says. There
were only 13 of us and most had gone while I was on stage. Here is what it
is like meeting Bryan Adams ready?
"Next"
Manager "This is the radio woman"
Me " Hi Heather Bishop from WZID" at this point he is shaking my hand and I
am being guided to spin and cuddle up next to Bryan for my pic.
Bryan "Nice to meet you, thank you for coming tonight"
Me "No prob!"
"SMILE"
click click click
Mananger "Thanks everyone! Bryan has to get ready now"
And we are ushed down the stairs.
Exciting isn't it? YES!!! It may all happen with in less then 4 minutes but
still. I got to stand next to Bryan Adams! He put his arm around me!!!!! So
that is the "glamorous life"
Want to see the pic? Friend me on Facebook. Just search for Heather Bishop or become a friend of WZID Manchester NH and find me in their friends list!

Yesterday I was on twitter chatting with Kevin over at WMUR. I asked him if I should plan on having a snowday today. He replied yes. I thought he was crazy. So I emailed one of my favorite babysitters. She laughed at me like I was nuts but said yes if there was a snowday today she would watch Joshie today... I am REALLY glad I took Kevins advice.
btw I'm on twitter look me up I'm HeatherBishop that is right NO space!

What a weekend! Friday my husband sent me flowers. They were gorgeous. So I felt I needed to step up my game. I got on the Internet and made reservations for our favorite hotel in Boston! We surprised Josh with a quick overnight in Boston. After work we went and picked up Josh and told him we were going to Boston. Then drove down spent the night and the next day at the MOS. We left when the crowd started coming in and were back in time for me to be on the air Saturday afternoon. All 3 of us had a great time! I highly recommend the Harry Potter exhibit. It was breathtaking. BUT here is a tip, get there early! We got there as the doors opened and had most of the MOS with very little company. Plus the movies and Harry Potter exhibit sell out quick!.
The Olympics are on. Are you watching? I am not. I don't know why but I am just not in to it. I'll catch an event every once and a while but I have friends who dvr every moment. How about you? Heather@wzid.com

Survivor is back and better then ever! YOU KNOW it's going to be good when in the first 20 minutes there is 1 separated shoulder, 1 broken toe, and the most physical challenge I have ever seen in Survivor history! It's the villains vs heroes. Oh it's so good. Russel, Jerry, the Dragon slayer! Oh the heroes COLBY! Tom! COLBY! I know I said Colby twice but it's been almost 10 years and boy have they been good to him. My Thursdays are booked for the next few weeks.
Valentines day is this weekend. Here is a little love for all the singles out there. I have a number of friends who are single and complain that they don't get anything for Valentines day. Well guess what, I'm MARRIED and I don't usually get anything. So I feel ya. Their retort is well you'll have someone to cuddle with....ummm there is a good cahnce I won't. My husband is a firefighter/emt so I have learned that there is a really good chance I could be cuddling with the dog Sunday night. In fact our very first valentines day I did spend the night alone do to a 5 alarm structure fire....again singles i feel ya! So just enjoy the day, wither alone or with your love.

IDOL CHATTER!
Last night Idol was on at 9pm. I really hate that. 9 is a little late. I did miss the first half because my husband and I were watching the movie "Couples Retreat". SO funny! Great movie!
We did learn some lessons from last nights Idol.
1- KNOW the words!
2- If you have the choice to go to sleep or stay up night practicing STAY UP!
3-Stay AWAY from the Sweet Escape. That song killed so many dreams last night.
4-Even IF they feature you in the audition episodes it does NOT mean you will make it thought. Bye bye Mike from Florida, I'll miss you.
5-Ellen can be JUST as critical as any other judge. No more hand holding on Idol.
All in all it was a good show. A few got through that shouldn't and a few got let go who shouldn't. It's HARD. they have so many people and literally your future hangs on LESS then 30 seconds of singing. 1 bad note can kill your dream. Better them then me!
2/10/10
IDOL CHATTER!!!!!
First off the introduction of Ellen. So far so good. I don't know about you but I could tell that Simon was not happy to be there. On that note....
LOVE Andrews version of Straight up!!! LOVE it
Loved the version of American boy by Jannelle
Haeley has a great voice and is just adorable.
Mary the Joan Jett wannabe, I feel like she is only screaming. I dont like her
oh some of the singing was so painful. I cant imagine being so close to your dream. then standing up there in front of all your competition, all the lights, the judges. The pressure must be unbelievable.
Day 2
Don't forget the words
the rap singer...eeek
Lilly Scott LOVE her voice....love love love
Michael the new daddy who missed his baby being born so he could sing. Not bad, kinda whiny
Maddy with the 4 downs syndrome brothers, yawn......
Casey the shirtless singer....I can see him going top 10
Didi sounds familiar, great but very familiar
Crystal the single mom who spent money on a tattoo when she needs it for her kid.....good voice
Your thoughts? Heather@wzid.com
2/8/10
I did NOT watch the Super Bowl. Not even for the spots. We are not football watchers to be honest with you. Yes I keep an eye on how the Pats do but other then that we just don't watch football. Because of this my husband is usually working an extra shift because his co workers are football fans. But since the Pats weren't in it no one wanted the night off so he was home. I did want to see The Who but then again I didn't. I love The Who, like the 1979 Who. Back in their hay day Who. Not the AARP card owning Who. I am sorry I know that is mean but it's true. Daltry just can't hit the notes he used to. I am really tired of the people who book the half time show digging up these older acts. Ok I loved the Stones and The Boss is always great but lets add alittle spice to the mix. Maybe next year Taylor Swift instead of SuperTramp. I don't KNOW that they are going to have SuperTramp but it's only a matter of time since they are running out of "classic"acts.
So what DID we watch instead? Well it had The Who in it......CSI! Yup we watched a CSI marathon on Spike TV. We had our popcorn, cuddled up on the couch and spent our night listening to "Whoooooooo are you? Whooo whoooo whooo whooooo" The way it was meant to be! Oh earlier in the day we did watch a bowl, the Puppy Bowl!!! Sage (our puppy) loved it! I loved the Kitty halftime game, they never missed a note!
2/5/10
Today is National Go Red For Woman day! Here is a pic of Shannon from promotions and I wearing our red!
2/4/10
I was a bad girl last night. I saw 5 minutes of American Idol. Then I fell asleep. I saw Posh spice was back and was shocked to see that Simon had co written a song. A song that the first contestant sang called "Footprints in the sand". It is a gorgeous song and Posh was very shocked that Simon has a heart. He does. Then it was off to sleepy land for Ms. Heather.... sorry I failed you.
Next week Idol has 181 people in Hollywood and Ellen. My concern is the later time. They have moved Idol back an hour. It was 8 now it's 9. I love Idol but I love my sleep more. I know I am old. I am hoping that they move it back to 8 to take advantage of the younger viewers who can't stay up to late because it's a school night... or maybe that is WHY they moved it to 9.
2/3/10
Denver, American Idol
Home to Daughtry, which by the way WE HAVE TICKETS to see!!!!
The Becks is back. More then alittle over dressed.
Mark who thinks he looks like Jack Black. Why just cause they are chunky white guys? So is my husband but he looks nothing like Jack Black. The story was just a waste of airtime. Love the song. He has talent. Lets hope he leaves the stories at home.
The laughing Mario. What is with the trench coat? It is NEVER a good sign when Simon starts looking away. It means NO.
I loved the mad swearing montage.
Whats with the kids? I love kids I have one but do we need to see everyones kids? I feel bad for these kids who have to stand there with thier parents for HOURS to audition. What kind of parent does that?
Kimberly, talented but I don't like all these people using thier kids for sympathy.
Tons of Denver singers got through.
Next a kariokie sing with....shocking a small child! Danellel who started crying BEFORE the audition even started. She is perfect for a Saturday night at the kariokie bar. I DO NOT like her voice. I can NOT beleive they sent her to Hollywood. I do NOT think she will make it past the first day.
Casey Jones, another life time movie story. UGH! I can so hear him doing country music. The girls make the poor guy get half naked...I agree with the girls YES.
ENOUGH WITH THE KIDS!!!!!!!! The 16 year old who brought like 18 kids with her. And of course one of the little girls dress pics of the judges. Tori is the singer. Not bad. Not great. My husband agreed with Simon with the comment "she looks like a human orange"
Day 2
Lets start out with Austin. Aka Mr. Im all that. He rides a moped. So no he isnt all that. Oh and after he sang he proved that he IS NOT ALL THAT.
Kenny, who is the self proclaimed WORLDS BEST SINGER. I wanted to take a pen and punch out my eardrums. But Kenny does NOT take rejection well.
The screachers....that is why the judges get paid the BIG money. to listen to all that I would need to make big money
Nikki from Italy. Oh Im scared. She sounded like she was on hyllium when she was talking. OMG Simon just said that! I could take his job! 14 hour flight for this? Not bad. I could see her as a pop star. Like a tween princess.
Haely, a premmie. Ok I have a soft spot for premmies cause my son was a premmie. She loves country, I could see it. I really like her look. I hope she does well.
26 golden tickets.
This years water cooler Idol...Bikini boy......oh some people really need a life.
2/2/10
The President of the USA is in Nashua today. The focus is on jobs. Which makes me think about one year ago. One year ago the recession really hit home to me. A number of friends in many different work areas had lost their jobs.
One in financial. He had worked in finance for a number of years and was let go. He was not allowed to get a job for 6 months as part of his layoff agreement. Then a few months ago got a new job working with computers, something he always wanted to do but didn't dare.
Another was working in entertainment. After being let go he waited a few months before trying to find a new job. He found it was harder then he thought and decided to go back to school and work part time. Now he is trying to go into law.
A third tried finding a job the day he was let go. After months of searching he found a job that he loves more then he did the job he lost.
My point is, as I look back over the really rough journeys there was a light at the end of the tunnel. So if you are one of the hundreds of thousands looking for hope don't give up. You never know where your road is going to lead!
2/1/10
A sore throat is the WOREST thing a dj can have. And that is what I had Friday. I sounded like a horse that ate nails. So my wonderful boss and Peggy James filled in for me so I could sleep. My weekend was sleep. I know I am exciting arnt I? So I slept. And slept.... I did not see the Grammys. Hoenstly I am not a fan of the Grammys. Ever since Milly Vanilly I haven't watched. I know I need to more on.
1/28/10
I took my 7 year old son to Disney on Ice Princess Classics. He was NOT the only little boy there. Guess what? He loved it! Yeah he did. The show was about the Disney stories that feature princesses but they also featured princes. We had a great time and I highly recomend it. My friend Melissa and her daughter Emma came with us. Emma is 10 and loved it. Part of the specticle was all of the mini princesses! Ariels, Belles, Snow Whites every where. I even saw more then a few adults dressed up with crowns and gowns. In my opinion that is a good parent, someone who will swollow thier pride to show thier child how to have some fun. Thank goodness they had crown for sale!
1/27/10
Seacrest showing off in his studio to start Idol....
Avril Lavigne, not really a big fan.
So we start with a geek?! NOT a good start, he freezes up. Then gets aggresive. FREAK
The father of 3, pastor, Jim Ranger, not bad. I could see him doing country. I dont see top 10.
Damien, the karate lover. In a suit. He honestly thought he could sing and I bet in the shower he sounds great, but here NOT even close.
Mary with an 8 year old girl. Of course Pat Benitar. You could just tell by all the black she was wearing. She is very "I want to be a rock star" look about her. I dont see her in the top 5.
All the Adam look alikes....Tracy MUST be in heaven.
AJ the one who says he has been in contact with Adam...hello reality called it wants you to come back to it.
Day 2 Katy Perry! Love her
Austin, he killed Surrender from Cheap Trick. Not KILLED in a good way. At this point I am looking at the clock praying that it almost over....
Andrew Garcia. The boy from the gang family. OMG I LOVE HIS VOICE! A ray of fresh sunlight. I did not want him to stop.
Tasha Layton, Minister by night with the voice of an angel!
The ying to her yang, Jason Greene. He gives me the heeebies. EWWW he is just icky.
Kara and Katy CAT FIGHT!!!! I could see Katy replacing Simon
And the last person is Chris Golightly. Sappy story, good voice. Don't judge me, it is a sappy story! He has been in foster homes since he was 18 months. Sappy story. And Katy said what I have been thinking for weeks, THIS IS NOT A LIFETIME MOVIE. Idol has become like a lifetime movie. The producers are already positioning thier favorites by telling sappy back stories.
Tomorrow Texas! And the elevator of SHAME is back! BUT I will eb UNABLE to watch, do to Disney Princesses on Ice.....SO I need one of you kind people to write your thoughts and send them to me Heather@wzid.com
1/26/10
I need a favor. Wednesday night Josh and I are going to the Disney Princess on Ice show, so I need a fill in blogger. If your an Idol fan and can write a recap of Wednesday nights show please email me asap. There is no pay only my gratitude and the opportunity to have your thoughts posted on my humble blog.

I love Facebook.com. In fact if your on facebook look up WZIDmanchester and NHInTheMorning
I was on facebook a few weeks ago and looked on the suggested friends list. Listed were 2 sisters I knew growing up in upstate New York. Seriously I have not seen these 2 since I was 16 years old. Last night we had dinner. Come to find out one of the sisters now lives in New Hampshire! Less then an hour from my house. And the other sister is in town visiting.
As I walked in the door of her house I felt a huge rush of nastalga. Here standing in front of my was my childhood. 2 friend and thier parents who knew me when I was a bratty little know it all. It was awsome to have them meet my son and to get caught up. I highly suggest if your not on facebook you do so soon. It's like a time machine.
1/21/10
IDOL CHATTER!!!!
Kristin Chenoweth
Orlando Florida!
Oh why? Why must we deal with these obvious attention lovers?
Ok I will give you the girl power. And them annoying hungover Simon was icing on the cake.
Seth Rollins, the man with the autistic son, has a good voice. Very likeable. It is going to be REALLY hard on his son. Change is VERY hard on an autistic child and with daddy gone for so long Im worried about the child. It would be even worse if the boy goes to Hollywood for a taping of the show. The people, lights, noise, as a mom I would NOT do it.
Jermain! Oh yeah!
Shelby, the girl with the facial paralisis. good voice.
Day 2 no Kristin
Jay Stone, ummm been there done that. Blake Lewis called and wants his schtick back
I LOVED the guy who did a split and STILL kept on singing!!!!
the sisters.....Desimone sisters....they need a style make over, but not bad voices.
Jarod, I hate seeing people like this. Ones who TRUELY think they can sing and really really really can not. Plus arrested cause he wouldnt leave. Well alteast he go a trip.
Just have to mention the 1980s swatch watch on randys wrist! NICE!
Matt Lawerance, ex con. bank robber. Love the song and love his voice. He is my pick this year!!!!!
1/20/10
My UNEDITED thoughts while watching last nights Idol.
Simon was ALL over her. He was like on her lap!!!!
The first story is about a girl whos parents are divorcing. Really? Whos parents arnt divorced? She wasnt bad.
Second girl was CRAZY with a capital C!
Charity, distinct. Very distinct in a good way
Im starting to get really tired of the people who TRY to be horrible on Idol. Like the ones who dress redicilously.
Angelia, the one with 2 chances already. Is 3rd time a charm? I think so
Is it me or is it getting beyond radiculous? Im getting to the point where I am hoping that the time would pass quicker.....
John Park has a chance, he is the one Shania had the hots for. she is acting very Paula with this guy. Flirty!
Im sorry but Im getting tired of the "touching stories" it's starting to feel like an afterschool special.
Shania is a fun judge! But all the bad singers just killed this eppisode for me.
1/19/10
Happy Tuesday! I think it's funny on Saturday Josh was complaining that there wasn't enough snow to go sledding. Yeah not a problem now. Sage, our dog still doesn't know what to think of it. I laughed so hard yesterday. Yesterday morning I opened the door to let her out, well tried to open the door. The snow had piled up in front of the door. Sage had to jump to get out. It's so funny to watch. Then she runs to the farthest part of the yard, does her business and then runs like the devil back to the door. But later in the day she will lay right down in it and roll around. That is what is amusing me these days. It's the little things.
1/18/10
You do have a project that you have been putting off for years? I mean it years? I did. Yes DID. After 3 years in our house I finally got the kitchen somewhat organized. Yeah that is what I did with my weekend. I am proud of myself. Hope your weekend was great.
1/15/10
Today we are doing a last minute broadcast from the Mall of NH. This is why I LOVE radio. It's instant! The people of Haiti are devastated. I can't even come close to imagining what they are going through. Many have lost everything, not that they had alot to begin with. It is just heart breaking. I don;t know about you but it makes me appreciate my life even more. We have no clue what it is to suffer like they are. No food, water or shelter. Fear that another quake or afters shock will total destroy what is left. Please if you can give. for details go to www.wzid.com

IDOL CHATTER!!!!!
I love the fact they they addressed the Paula issue. Face it head on. And the first stop BEANTOWN! But really Posh Spice?!?! It's not that I don't like Posh Spice, but really?
The first contestant could NOT remember that Paula wasnt there. She kept calling Kara Paula. If I was Kara I would have knocked her out. I have a feeling they heard alot of the where's Paula.
Pat from Derry......um........I liked the uses of the word sassy!
Like that Ben Bright, not just cause he is from Rome NY. His version of All My Lovin' was great.
Love Mike, the capt of Codzilla. Adorable! and a good singer.
Katie Stevens from CT. At Last. Touching story and only 16 years old!
Cancer survivor Justin Williams has a great chance.
Leah from NY. LOTS of talent, you could see Simon thinking about what will be on her first album.
I think Posh did alright. I like how she called Simon out for his tude. I DID NOT like how Simon kept getting up and leaving before the end of some of the auditions. And I KNOW I am going to get hate mail for this next thought BUT, I LIKED the guy who looked like Clark Kent. I think he will change his look and go to a different state to try again. He has talent. I think he was there to make a joke of it then got mad because he had to wait all day to rip on the judges. He has talent. Simon saw that. He has a voice. I bet he will be back. Change the hair cut color and style plus the tude and he would get through no prob!
I was right! I KNEW Simon was going to jump the Idol ship. Here is my thought on his new X Factor show. He will have Paula as one of the other judges hoping to cash in on the chemistry that they have but I don't beleive it will work. By the time the show is on the air people will watch the first show and then lose interest. We already have America's Got Talent and American Idol honestly I don't see a need for X Factor in the USA. But I have been wrong before. So who should replace Simon next season on Idol? Thoughts? Heather@WZID.com
Yesterday I got a bunch of emails about Idol, here are some!
My take on Paula being gone, don't like it, I don't think Ellen will fill the void. I also hear Simon will be going next year and his part in it this year will be cut back in prep for his leaving. Personally, I think it has gone down hill in recent years and I don't really buy that the audience picks the winner. Sorry, I think Adam L. got the majority of the votes last season but American Idol could not deal with him being the Idol so they put him in second. Personally, I think this may very well be the last season for Idol.
A listener via the net,
Robbin Hood
I am a HUGE American Idol fan! I have gone to the show at the Verizon since season 3 faithfully! Last year was the BEST ever since my husband got me back stage passes and I met Adam Lambert! I was beyond happy...still am : )
I can't wait for Season 9 to start tomorrow and think Ellen will add a great new dynamic to the show since she is hysterically funny! I don't know how the show this year can top last, but Ellen will give that a good start.
Make my day and play "What do you want from me" by Adam!
Thanks,
Laurie (Lambert...haha)!

Is it me or did that feel like the shortest weekend ever? Maybe it was because I was so busy. We went to the movies to see "Alvin and the Chipmunks". Josh liked it. Went to a birthday party for my friends 14 year old daughter. De Christmased the house, thanks to the husband. He did the tree and I did the rest. So it was a busy busy weekend.
This week is going to be crazy busy! Tonight Josh has basketball practice and I have a board meeting. Tomorrow is IDOL!!!!!!! That is American Idol is back! I am going to try to do recaps and take your emails with thoughts so feel free to send those in.
1/8/10
Last night I went to the Hanover Street Chophouse for a small party. So much fun! The place is gorgeous. We didn't eat a meal just some apps but I can't wait to go back for a full meal. The apps were amazing and the company was great. Great time!
My goal for the weekend is to get the Christmas stuff down. We did not put that much up because we knew we were going out of town for the holidays but it still seems like there is so much to put away.
I was watching the Today show this morning and they had an interesting woman on. She took 1 year out of her live to be happy. She didn't put her life on hold she just tried to make a choice to make her self happy. Like finding the joy in the everyday things. For example when eating a salad think about what it took to get the salad. The lettuce and how it was grown in the fields. The cheese and the cows who gave the milk for it. Just focus for a second about the little things to make your self happy. I think it's an amazing idea. The book is called The Happiness Project. I'm gonna check it out.

Thursday! I have a question for you, did you like the www.MentalFloss.com quizes I used to post? If so let me know and I will start posting them once a week. Let me know either way Heather@wzid.com

I am a new dog mommy. We got Sage from a shelter in September. I have never had a dog before so I am not sure if my dog is "normal". Sage thinks she is human. Is this normal? What do I mean. Well she has torn her bed apart and scrunched it up in her cage so she has a pillow. She likes to nibble on peoples ears. She likes to watch TV. Sage also lays on her back with her head on our pillows in our bed. Is this normal? Heather@wzid.com

Honestly I am finding it hard to get my groove back. You know the routine of day to day life. I am starting to think maybe that is a good thing. Maybe I should take this time to make a new routine. One where I get up earlier the 5:30. One where I get on the treadmill. One where I cook more and eat out less.....I think that is a sure way to get my groove back.

Happy New Year!!!!
Hope your holiday was great. Mine was. We went to my mother in laws for Christmas. The best gift I ever gave her. This was the first time she got to see Josh open his gifts on Christmas morning. She took care of him and let me tell you I think it is going to be a tradition. He got an electric guitar so it was a good Christmas for him. Then he had a few "grandparent days". He loves them but since they live so far away he only gets to see them a few times a year.
Then we went to a casino in upstate NY for a few days. Just my husband and I. Now we were never casino people but we are becoming that way. It is amazing IF you keep a limit. We get a room for 2 nights, play the slots, or a little blackjack. Eat at some amazing places. All inside the casino complex. Unusually, and this year was no exception, it is during a massive snow storm. That's what I like. It is ALL in the same building! No driving! You get bored just go play some games or go to the spa! Love it!
We came home in a snow storm. Josh is on a Weird Al kick so we listened to Weird Al in the car. Oh did I mention it was a snow storm? 9 hours home. Weird Al all the way.....
January 1 was my Birthday, we went to TBones. LOVE IT!!!!!
January 2 we went to see Recycled Percussion. Now my husband and I have seen them 3 times but my son is always out of town when they are in town. He LOVED it. How much? Well we had gotten new pots and pans for Christmas from my in laws, so Josh took the old ones. Between the guitar, pots and pans and the accordion it is a good thing we live in the country! Oh he got the accordion 2 Christmas ago. The first time he was on a Weird Al kick.
So all in all a great vacation!
12/21/09
Honestly this will be my last blog for 2009. It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I am going on vacation and will be so busy!
First off I want to thank all of you. This blog started off as therapy for me. A way to just type down MY thoughts and feelings. Over the year I have shared my son and him losing his first tooth. My husband and funny stories about him. The adoption of our new puppy. Plus behind the scenes stories from here in the station. You have replied. You have shared. You have sent stories of you own. And I thank you deeply for that. Most of you don't understand that I forget sometimes. I forget the number of people who listen and that something I say can put a smile on your face. So thank you and please stay interactive in the new year.
12/15/09
The holidays....I know everyone is crazy busy, I know I am! So lets go back, lets see. Chunkys remote was great. Oh the concert for the Nashua Flute Choir! It was nerve racking. I get alittle stage fright. Shocking isn't it. But it was amazing. My son LOVED it. And now he wants to play conra flute. Contra is the really big flute. I am talking 6 foot tall. NO LIE! It was fun but the ride home Sunday was bad.
Now I am just trying to get everything done so I can go on vacation next week. My friend Kim is staying at our house with the dog. Poor Sage could not handle an 8 hour drive so she is staying home. Kim and her dog are taking over our house while we are gone. It is SO stress full for me right before vacation because I fell I have to clean EVERY INCH of my house because someone else will be living in it for a week. So that is my big plan for the weekend. Other then that I am just doing the last min Christmas stuff.
12/7/09
So sorry I haven't blogged in a few day but it was CRAZY! Crazy GOOD! First and for most I want to personally thank everyone who helped out with the WZID Christmas is for kids radiothon. That was by far the most rewarding thing I have done in a long time. Behind the scenes it was just crazy! I wish we had a web cam, maybe next year. I got to hang out with some amazing people. Child and Family service people, volunteers, local celbs. Just a really fun time. And because of all the donations so many family's will have a holiday! I was so tired Saturday morning. Friday after I got off the air I didn't want to go home so I jumped on the phone bank! THAT was amazing. Talking to all the people who had called in to give. That was the best part! Your so generous! $157,000 in a recession! THANK YOU!!!!!
Well I said Saturday morning I was so tired, well there was no rest. I am on the board of directors of a community center so I was up early for our annual Christmas breakfast. Followed by a PTO event and a holiday parade!
Sunday was busy too! A remote at the Verizon store at the Pheasant Lane mall, some Christmas shopping and rehearsal! Rehearsal?! I will be the narrator for this Sundays Nashua Flute Choirs concert! This Sunday at the Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E Dunstable road in Nashua. The show starts at 1:30. $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and kids $5.
I'm happy I am back at work so I can get a little rest! ;)
11/30/09
I have been a very bad girl. I haven't blogged in a few days. It's been crazy! Lets go back to Thanksgiving. It was nice. Very low key. Josh hates turkey so there was some fighting over eating dinner. I believe my words were " I didn't spend the last 5 hours cooking this darn bird for you NOT to take a bite." So he took 1 very tiny bite.....kids!
Black Friday! Whoo Hooo baby! In fact I am wearing a sweater I bought for $15 (regular retail $50). So all I have to do now is get a few odds and ends but other then that I AM DONE! And so is my husband. Here is a tip. If you DON'T want someone to know what they are getting for Christmas DON'T take your 7 year old son with you when you buy it! LOL! By the way I'm getting a mini notebook so after Christmas it will be easier for me to blog. :)
1-Be prepared! Sneakers, layers, small purses or wallet. Think marathon. Shopping Black Friday IS the Boston Marathon for shoppers.
2-Prep! You wouldn't walk in to the kitchen on Thanksgiving with out prepping before hand would you? No. Look online before hand. Figure out what you NEED or really really want. Have a plan.
3-Be flexible! Personally I walk in with an idea of what I want to get. UNLESS there is something I really need or want. Go for that, but IF you can't or don't get it be flexible. Last year I walked into a store and they had a huge bin of DVDs for $3 each. And these were NEW movies. So I dug in. If you happen to come across something that is a great deal buy it. I don't know about you but my husband springs holiday parties on me with Yankee swaps in them at least once a year. If it's a great deal you can ALWAYS store it away for a wedding or birthday gift later. Plus when it comes to Christmas gifts for the kids they are usually flexible. My son will say he wants one thing in November then 3 weeks later changes his mind.
4-Divide an concur! If you have friends use them. Texting has helped with Black Friday! I will be in one area of the store when my friend will be in another area. She will text if she sees something I would like and vice versa.
5- Remember the holiday spirit! This in my mind is most important. Remember these cashiers and store workers have woken up early. They are being screamed at, pushed, and being treated badly by most. Be kind to them and your fellow shoppers. I am a BIG believer in kharma so be kind.
Have fun!
11/23/09
I am now in the holiday spirit! I helped out with the Mills Tons of Turkeys over the weekend. 61 tons! Do you know how many families are going to have a Thanksgiving because of every ones help?!? So amazing. For the last few years I have helped out with this event and it just keeps getting bigger because you everyone who helps out, if you did thank you so much. Now I am gearing up for Christmas is for kids!!!!!
BUT FIRST Turkey!!!! And SHOPPING!!!!!!
Check back here this week for Heather's guide to black Friday.
What a great weekend. I did nothing. Every once in a while you need that. Saturday morning I looked at the month ahead and saw that I am booked solid. I looked at the boys and said "chill weekend" and they agreed! We went out to breakfast. Hit a few stores. But mainly we relaxed at home. My husband is building what I call a man cave in the cellar. My son LOVES to spend time down there with his dad. It's cute. The 2 of them working on finishing the basement is so cute, and gets them out of my hair. I watched a CSI marathon on the netflix live. So relaxing.
Don't forget tomorrow night 7:30 WMUR, Chronicle, ME! Check it out and let me know what you think.

When I was a kid Veterans day was just a day where my grandfather would walk in a parade. Now it's a day where like so many people I understand it is one of the most important holidays of the year. As the wife of a firefighter and a police dispatcher we have a huge number of friends who have or are serving overseas. I have seen first hand how family's have had to deal with a loved one in dangers way. In fact my brother in law is a career military man. I want to say thank you to all Veterans and their family's today, especially those who are no longer with us. Miss you Scotty, THANK YOU!

It was NOT H1N1! I like alot of you I work and have a home and kid and dog...You see what I am saying right. All work and no rest makes Heather a sick woman. An upper respitory infection that went with out rest for too long. The Doc told me to stay home and get better and my wonderful coworkers agreed! Thanks to all of them for covering for me while I was resting. If your like me (a self proclaimed workaholic) you KNOW that it can be hard. But I did it. Not 100% YET but much, much better!
Yesterday I got a call from my mother inlaw. She informed me she was FINISHING up her holiday shopping....Finishing up?!?! Are you kidding me? She wanted to know what Josh wanted. I didn't have the heart to tell her that earlier in the day he had taken 20 mins and 10 different choices JUST for lunch. So the question of the week is Are you already doing your holiday shopping? I'm a black friday shopper. I'll give you tips as we get closer! I LOVE black Friday. It's like hunting season to me. Thoughts? Heather@wzid.com

I had the most amazing weekend ever. As I have been blogging about Erwan and Eve are here from France. This Saturday we took them to see some of the rest of NH. First off we just drove around. It's amazing to see things you see everyday through fresh eyes. We drove north through Concord up toward Franklin. Then we walked a trail in the rain. Erwan and Eve are used to walking in the rain because they live in a city near the ocean and it rains there often. After that we headed over to the big lake. Around lunch time we stopped at the TBones in Laconia. If you have traveled up there you know it has a gorgeous view of the lake. Eve could not get over the trees every where and Erwan was amazed by the vast spaces.
After lunch they asked Josh what he wanted to do. Well we were in the lakes region and they asked a 7 year old boy, so he said Funspot!. I was a little worried. They asked what "Funspot" is. Once I told them, well I was not worried any more! They LOVED it! So we took our new French friends to Funspot. I honestly don't know who had the best time. After that we headed back toward Concord. On the way we took them to Walmart. I know I'm such a great tour guide. They truly wanted to see American places and experience American life. What's more American then Walmart?
I bet you have been in a Walmart a hundred times, but can you remember the first time? The large overwhelming space filled to the rafters with everything from toothbrushes to fresh fruit, ammo to HD TV's. I bet Eve said "wow" about 15 times. After 10 minutes they seemed to enjoy it and they were amazed by what they could find. In fact they laughed when I looked at a jacket for our puppy and they saw live fish for sale. They picked up some bread, fresh fruit and a toy for my son.
In fact Josh now wants to go live in France because of our new friends. All in all it was one of those amazing weekends that we will never ever forget. I can't wait till they come back for another visit!
10/22/09
I'm so excited! Yesterday I met Erwan for the very first time face to face. He is the artist from Brest France who is painting Manchester NH using google earth. He has brought his wonderful girlfriend Eve. They are both so nice. We had a great tiem talking about the differences between Americans and the French. Plus we were interviewed for WMURs Chronicle! It should be on in a few weeks. After the interview I took Erwan and Eve to dinner with my family. They had NEVER had Mexican. Now I think they love it. It was jsut an amazing experieance and I am so happy to have had the oppertunity to learn about a different culture.
10/20/09
I can't wait till tomorrow! Wednesday? Yes! Here is the back story. Back in 2008 before I was on WZID, I was on our sister station 96.5 The Mill. One day I got an interesting email, in French. I don't read french but I recognized my face. Attached was a scan of a painting of me! Confused? So was I! Come to find out this artist Erwan was doing a very cool art project. He calls it "Manchester By Bed". He sits in his bed during his spare time and paints scenes of Manchester NH. Did I mention he was in France? Do to the wonders of google earth, Erwan could paint a city he never stepped foot in....till this week! We have become friends on facebook and now he is here! I will be meeting him for the first time tomorrow. He used to listen to me while painting. It's a little mind blowing to say the least. Check it out.

First off I want to discuss Balloon Boy. When I first saw this on TV I knew in my gut it was ahoax. Then when I saw the poor child puke on TV, not once but twice, that reaffirmed it. This poor kid was being told by his parents to lie, on national TV. What kind of parenting is that?!?! In my opinion I think they should see some sort of consiquences.
Ok now that that is off my chest! Weekend was good but we all have a cold. Even the dog. I woke up in th emiddle of the night last night and all I could hear was sniffles and snoring. I hope it passes fast.
10/15/09
I have been busy latley! But I did take some time out yesterday to go to The Aesthetic and Vein center MD in Salem yesterday. I have been getting the dermasweep and my face looks and feels amazing. For full disclosure they are giving me the series for free. Even if they weren't I would pay for it. As a teenager I had horrible skin, then as an adult it was almost as bad. Now my skin is clear. The clearest it has ever been in my entire life! It's soft and supple. It gives me more confindence and I feel better about my face. Check it out www.AVCMD.com

Another great weekend. I hosted a golf tournament on Saturday and it was so much fun. It was all for the Pines Community Center in Northfield. Thanks to everyone who came out!
Sunday was a relax day. Josh and I hung out. We played with the dog and did the shopping for the week. Then I was in the mood for a potroast. I find that since I have been hanging out with Chef Nicole I have been more adventurous in the kitchen. So I made a potroast and we took it over to our friends house. Let me tell you it was a great time! Potroast and Uno. That is right the card game Uno! It is a fun inexpensive game that everyone can play. Our Sunday nights at our friends house for dinner is becoming a fun ritual.

And now another wonderful quiz from our friends at www.MentalFloss.com!

Great weekend! Spent time with the hubby and the kids. We are now calling the dog a kid. Josh calls Sage his sister. She has just as many toys as Josh! But yet she wants my slippers. She is becoming a big part of our family. Did you know that Oct is adopt a shelterdog month. So if you have a place in your home and heart do it!
10/2/09
The Circus is in town!!!!!! Josh and I went and let me tell you what, LOVED IT! Josh loved the bikes and the dogs, and the high wire act and the, well he loved it! It is great. We went a few years ago and it was alright but this show was amazing. Check it out it's in town till the 4th.

I am asking for your help today. I am thinking of revamping the blog and survey. What are your thoughts? What would you like to see more of or less of? I know a lot of people liked the links for AGT, do you want more links? Do you like the MentalFloss.com quizzes? Let me know Heather@wzid.com

What a great Saturday! Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at the McDonalds on Saturday. It was a great time. Yesterday we just chilled at home. My Josh got sick with a 102.7 fever so we did nothing. He is at home with Dad today because he is not allowed in school for 24 hours after a fever. : (

First off it's been a CRAZY BUSY week. The new puppy is getting used to us and has started chewing everything, even thoughit feels like I have spent a million dollars on chew toys and treats for her. Then my 7 year old has been busy with school stuff. And of course work and the house. I don't know how us working mothers do it sometimes. I have been good about keeping up on my twitter follow me @ Heatherbishop on www.twitter.com.
Have a great weekend!
9/22/09
Dancing with the Stars started last night. I will not be doing recaps. Number 1, I can't get into DWTS. Mondays are House. Dr. House is way to important to me. I have loved him since the show first started. Number 2, DWTS is a Mike and Tracy show. There are so many shows on TV I will let them have exclusivity of that one. Number 3, I want to be on it and they will never invite me.....
HOUSE!!!!! Love me some House. I have a great feeling about this season. Great feeling!!! I don't want to give it away in case wan tto www.hulu.com it. I don't have a dvr, so I hulu.... Which reminds me of this weeks survey, do you like show recaps? Let me know Heather@wzid.com

Yesterday after work I went over to Aesthetic and Vein Center MD in Salem. Check it out http://www.aestheticveincentermd.com/ I have been getting the microdermabrasion treatments. LOVE IT! My skin has NEVER looked so good. And I have only had 2 treatments. I can't wait to see how I am going to look when the series is over! They have some REALLY great deals so check out the web site. I know you think you can't afford it, but your wrong.
Survivor started last night! I have a good feeling about Betsy, she is the older woman who is a cop from Campton. Russ, he is smart but I think he is going to start to much trouble too soon. But then again that worked for a number of players in the past. Russ knows that acting like a jerk will get him a lot of press and airtime. I think he is honest in the fact that this is a mental game for him, he is not in it for the money. Other then that I don't believe a word out of his mouth. I did think that him and the first girl kicked out were going to have a showmance then he got her kicked out.
9/17/09
I've said it before I will say it again, it's not wither you win or lose. Honestly I think recycled Percussion losing is a GOOD thing. WHAT?!?! Heather please explain! Well it goes back to American Idol. Remember how everyone wanted Adam to win and I said he shouldn't? Recycled Percussion is in the same group as Adam. The creative talented types who IF they HAD won, they wouldn't have been able to be AS creative and talented. The contracts, if you win the show, are a little stifling. IF you win, you are pretty much OWNED by the show for AT LEAST a year, if not more!
Having NOT won now Recycled Percussion has NATIONAL ex poser, a much wider fan base and the opportunity to listen and consider the offers THEY want to take. If they had won they would have HAD to go to Vegas and done what was told of them by the producers and owners of AGT. Them losing is a good thing. In my mind anyway. Yes it stinks, but it's one of those "it's better in the long run" situations.
RECYCLED PERCUSSION WILL BE ARRIVING HOME TONIGHT AT 11:15!!!! I HIGHLY SUGGEST IF YOU CAN GO TO THE MANCHESTER AIRPORT TONIGHT AND GIVE THEM A HERO'S WELCOME. They handled themselves perfectly, even with the bit of controversy. Plus they showed New Hampshire pride! Give them some love!
Last week I got a puppy! Yes we saved her, she came from a dog rescue. Her name is Sage, she is a 5 month old border collie. SO CUTE! But I have never had a dog before so I am learning quickly how much work having a dog is. My husband had dogs when he was a kid so he knows. My problem is that Sage wants to be best friends with my 7 year old BUT my 7 year old doesn't want to be friends with Sage. He is scared of her, well only when she jumps. She is the sweetest dog ever but since she is a puppy she jumps. We are working HARD on stopping that! He likes her but I don't think he knows how to deal with her. If you have any ideas on how to get these 2 to bond please email me Heather@wzid.com
9/11/09
I will never forget
9/10/09
OMG! What a night last night. First lets start with Recycled Percussion. THEY MAID IT!!!! Whooo- hooo! Don't forget you can see these home town hero's LIVE New Years Eve at the Palace in Manchester. After last night I guarantee it will sell out before December.
Second American Idol. I thought the Paula thing was a ploy. But NO! Now at first I thought they were crazy for picking Ellen. She isn't a singer! But then I thought about it, they HAVE a singer. They have 2 musicians. They have a producer. They NEED an entertainer. Some one who KNOWS what it is like to deal with being a star, both the good and the bad parts. Ellen has. She has revitalized her career. In fact when she first got her talk show I didn't think she would make it through the first season. Of course I was wrong. Ellen is smart, witty, quick, entertaining, and knows what it is like to be under that pressure of being a star. PLUS Idol needed a BIG name to fill Paula's spot. And it couldn't be a singer. Think about it, if it was a singer they would always be a "Paula" wanna be.
Top 5 reasons why Ellen was a perfect choice
5-They needed someone who knows music. Ellen loves music and loves to dance.
4-They needed a NAME
3-Idol needed someone NOT in the music business. If they had a music star it would have been seen as they were trying to "replace" Paula
2-They needed someone quick witted and funny
and the number 1 reason they picked Ellen
1-It is amazing cross promotion! You can't tell me that the Ellen show won't get "exclusive" Idol footage. And THAT might finally put Ellen above Oprah.
Last night was BUSY! First we had Josh's open house. He is in second grade now, so he is one of the older kids in the school. It was nice to see kids say hi to him and to see how he interacts with his friends. I still think it is way to early in the school year for open house but that is just my opinion. Let me know your thoughts Heather@wzid.com Then of course America's Got Talent!! Recycled Percussion went first last night. They really did prove that they can bring it. I was impressed with how they give everything in each performance. I truly can see them headlining a show in Vegas! Tonight we find out if they make it to the finals. Did you see the rest of the acts? Some of them didn't handle the pressure well. That is why they have many rounds to see if the acts can keep it fresh. Like the piano kid, he was good the first few weeks but last night he blew it, it was sad. If I can find the video on you tube I will put it it! I promise!

Love long weekends! Saturday Josh and I hung out then when Hubby came home we went to the fair! It was great. I grew up showing horses so the fair reminds me of my childhood. The only bad thing was that I was on my ankle for to long and Sunday I paid the price. So Sunday I sat on the couch all day with an ankle the size of a grapefruit. I used it as an excuse to chll on Monday as well. You have to understand, this is NOT what I would normaly do on a 3 day weekend. I would have been everywhere doing everything but the ankle gave me the excuse and the reason to chill. Isn't it sad? I have to have an injury to justify to myself a few days of doing NOTHING. I will how ever be paying the price when I have to make up the chores I missed on my "chillcation"
Tonight is my son's open house. I think it's way to early in the school year to have an open house. They haven't even been a full week yet! Please take the survey on my main page or email me to tell me what you think. Heather@WZID.com

Yesterday was so busy I didn't get a chance to write my blog! Then I went to http://www.aestheticveincentermd.com/ to get a Dermasweep microdermabration. Now I have had facials before but this is a little different and less then 24 hours later I can SEE the difference. Dawn, who works at aesthetic and vein center in Salem, was so helpful. Great great place! And my face looks great. I can already see results. My pores look smaller, skin clearer and smoother. I am going back in 2 weeks for another treatment and can't wait. Plus I talked to Dr Miller while I was there about some smart lipo. I love the fact that if I get the smart lipo or velashape, I would be AWAKE for it, there is quick recovery time and most importantly Dr. Miller took the time to talk to me about all my questions and concerns. AND it is more affordable then I thought. They also have some great specials. Check it http://www.aestheticveincentermd.com/

ALMOST a perfect weekend. ALMOST a perfect 4 day weekend! What could make it not perfect? How about a trip to the ER? Oh yeah. Good news is it wasn't for my son or my husband. Bad news it was for me. Good news it's not broken! Bad news I'm on crutches with an aircast.
Monday my last day of my 4 day weekend. The weather was perfect. We were watching 2 other boys along with Josh. So the young 6 year old and Josh were playing and the 9 year old was bored. He wanted to play kickball. Who doesn't love kickball?!?! I said I'd play. We were having a GREAT TIME! You know what it's like when you get playing with younger kids and you forget that your not 18 anymore. Yeah that was me. I was fooling around showing off. I jumped to kick the ball really high and when I came down, well your suposed to land on the SOLE of your foot and I didn't. Down I went like a ton of wet bricks. SCREAMING! OMG! Screaming oh was I screaming.
My husband was in the house at the time. Hearing the screaming HE figured I had found a snake, till he realized I wasn't shutting up. THEN he came out to see the hub bub. My husband, god love him, is an EMT/FF. Oh and the boys we were watching, thier dad is one as well. So this turned into a painful demonstration/practice in how to splint a possible broken ankle. He then called the boys father who came over and got them. We then did a fun field trip to the ER. SO I guess I can say I did get some pics of my 4 day weekend, hardy har har!
Any way I am now in an air cast and crutches. So if you see me please please PLEASE help a sissta out!!!!!

Great news Recycled Purcusion made it to the next round! Awsome! I will try to find out when they will be on AGT again and pass that along to you.
I'm taking a few days off! That is right I am taking a 4 day weekend. Honestly my son starts 2nd grade on Tuesday and we are not prepared. I have to go back to school shopping and all that jazz. Plus I figured him and I would do something fun this weekend! So have a great one! Blog at you Tuesday!

Great weekend! Saturday we did our chores. You know groceries, cleaning, laundry. Then yesterday we went to the Henniker Chili fest! Hot oh so hot. Not just the chili. We had a great time. Josh loved the slide and the car show. Hubby and Josh loved the chili! I loved hanging out and seeing people I haven't seen in a while. Great time as always! Short week for me this week. It's the last week before back to school. I am taking this Friday and next Monday off to spend with Josh before he goes to the 2nd grade. Any suggestions on where to go this weekend? It will be just Josh and I cause hubby has to work, so I am looking for something close. I was thinking maybe Maine, Boston or just day trips. Any ideas? Email Heather@wzid.com

********We have gotten a number of calls and emails about this mornings auction. It was 2 amazing tickets for tonight's Red Sox vs Yankees game, limo from Linehan limo, and a gift card to Piccola in Manchester. The top bid was from Richard in Londonderry who bid $3000! Now all of this was for a great cause. There is a 6 year old little boy named Nicholas who suffers from Battens disease. Battens is very rare and horrible. For more info on it and Nicholas PLEASE check out this website www.ourpromisetonicholas.com
Thanks You!
Big plans for the weekend. Tomorrow we are housin' it. That is what I call it when we plan on just staying at the house and do chores or relax. Then Sunday we are headed to Henniker for the Chillifest. Know honestly I don't eat chili, but hubby does and there is so much to do even if you don't eat chili it's a good time. They have a great classic car show, which my 7 year old loves. Kids activities and music. Raffles and beer garden. Great food you can purchase. FUN PEOPLE! Mike Morin and Chef Nichole (from T-bones and CJs) will be there as celb judges. It's a great time, even if you don't eat chili!
8/20/09
Please don't tell me about Top Chef last night. I fell asleep. Beleive me I was not happy about it. Never thought I would be happy that Bravo does nothing but repeat the same 8 shows over and over again. Hubby woke me up at 9:30 and told me to get up to bed. When I had "rested my eyes" it was alittle after 8. I blame the heat wave, hubby says I'm crazy cause I am always in the AC.
8/19/09
Jim? Jim! Jim?!??! Come on buddy! My fave Jim on Hells Kitchen got himself kicked off last night, when his team didn't even put him up on the block. Jim as you may know works over at CR Sparks. Oh Jim....BUT there is culinary hope for NH! Top Chef starts tonight and a Sandwich NH woman is on it. Ashley Merriman will be one of the 16 tonight. You know I'll be watching. Bravo 9pm tonight.
Plus we still have high hopes for Recycled Percussion! Those guys are great and I wish them the best of luck!
It's good to see NH well represented on TV!
8/18/09
Some of our interns are headed back to school this week, so I came across this quiz and thought it was perfect!
Once again BIG THANKS to www.Mentalfloss.com It's hard! I only got a 69%

Great weekend! It was wicked hot and I didn't want to go to the beach. Come on EVERYONE was going to the beach. So we went up to the Polar Caves. OMG! Perfect! Josh, our friend Stacy and I went up around 10ish on Saturday. There wasn't a huge crowd, the caves were very cool, and we got some great exercise in. In fact my legs are still stinging a bit from crouching in the caves. If you go, which I suggest you do, try the pizza in the gift shop. It's hand made and cooked in a brick oven. I did NOT get free tickets, I know that what some of you might be wondering. The price isn't bad, I think I paid 28 for the 3 of us to enter and lunch was under 20 bucks. Plus we did one of the mining experiences. There are 2. We did the one where you go in to a mine. It's a over sized dark closet where you have to "find" stones. it was great for a 7 year old boy. We had fun!
8/13/09
Guiding Light has ended it's run. I haven't watched it in some 10 years but it will always have a place in my heart. I remember everyday getting off the bus and running up to the house to see what was happening on GL. The Spauldings, the Coopers, the drama! Oh how I loved that show. Then of course I got older and got into after school activities and part time jobs. Guiding Light was the longest running soap on TV. I find it hard to believe that the soaps are doing so poorly. With so many out of work I would think it would be the opposite. Good bye Guiding Light, thanks for the memories.
8/12/09
American Idol! I know it's been a while since I have blogged about Idol. Did you hear the latest gossip about Idol? They want Queen Latifah. What do you think? I think it was be AWESOME! She is smart, talented, funny, and has a a long career. Personally I think she will do a great job if they get her. Lets cross our fingers!

Oh what a weekend! It was just amazing. Hope yours was as great as mine.
Saturday we had a BBQ for my husbands birthday. But he refused to call it a Birthday party. We rented a jumpy house. Smart move! The kids jumped and we chilled. Then when they were done we had a pinata and water balloons. They kept themselves busy and we chilled. Awesome! The key to a good party is keep the kids busy! I love it when you can catch up with friends you have not seen in a while. The only bad thing is that people already KNOW what I have been up to. They listen and read this blog. lol.
Yesterday after sleeping in, we went out to breakfast. Then did some back to school shopping and to the movies. We saw G Force. The guys liked it...
8/6/09
OMG! Such a good concert last night. Ok I could have used more then 4 hours sleep but it was worth it.
Blondie. Blondie was vocally great. Debbie, well Debbie can't dance. No lie. She looked like she was doing low impact step classes. But they sounded great!
Pat Benatar. I have ALWAYS wanted to see her. It was worth it. They had re worked some of the songs do to high notes that she can no longer hit, but she was still just amazing. And honest. Pat talked before every song she did. Telling a story about every song. She admitted she hates Hit Me, which by the way she sang in the MIDDLE of the set. I expected us to have to work for it. You know, when you have been to a concert and the artist makes you clap and clap for an encore to hear the BIGGEST of their hits. She didn't and that was awesome. 2 thumbs WAY up on this one!
8/5/09
Happy Bday to my hubby!!!! It's his B day!!! And yes I am going to the Pat Benatar concert tonight with out him. We had a talk and he is fine with it. In fact he is happy about it. Him and our son Josh will have a mans night. You have to know something, my husband works crazy hours. This month he is on midnights so he isn't home as much. This is tough on us but it is tougher on our son, so Daddy and Josh are going to have a mans night tonight and we are ALL going to be together this weekend. In fact we are have some 50 people over for his Birthday party, so don't feel to bad for him.
8/4/09
The Beer Summit '09. Wow what a big deal was made about the beer that the President drank. Did you hear? He picked a beer that was NOT an American beer. Fox News Network was having a fit about it. I think he picked that beer because he LIKED it not because of were it was made. I know crazy thought! So do you know your beers? Take the MentalFloss.com quiz. Once again MUCH love to the crew at www.MentalFloss.com If you don't have them bookmarked yet...well then you should!
8/03/09
I heard it was a great weekend, our whole family was sick so we didn't see any of it. Oh well there is always next weekend right?!
I have a moral conundrum, I have tickets to a concert I have ALWAYS wanted to see. Pat Benitar. Where's the problem? Well they are on my husbands Birthday. Oh and he hates Pat Benitar.... Should I go and make it up to him this weekend or should I not go and be bitter? Shot me an E Heather@wzid.com JUST an FYI He IS having a party this weekend and he knows it. So don't feel to bad for him!

Like I love the 80's! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it...ok what's my issue? Jordan is on vacation and I will be filling in for him on the 80's Saturday night! Oh yeah! I have been waiting for this for years. Have an 80's song you want to hear? Email me Heather@WZID.com

Earlier I blogged about how I am reading the Sookie Stackhouse books, which are being turned into HBO's True Blood. I am happy to say the books are NOT like the show. I like the fact that I can read the books and not really know what is going to happen in the show. That is really good because I have only seen the first season since I don't have HBO. I JUST started the third book. So far 4 and a half stars! (out of 5)

Crazy busy weekend! Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Walmart in Amherst to donate to Gear for grades! If you didn't get a chance, you can drop off your donations at any of the Citizens bank branches now through Aug 1.
Thanks to everyone at Citizens for their help this weekend it was great!
7/24/09
Please join me tomorrow at the Gear for grades event at the Citizens bank inside the walmart in Amherst. Want more info go to http://wzid.com/
It gets me thinking about back to school shopping. Oh how I love to do it now. But back when I was a kid it was horrible. I remember always fighting with my mother about the back to school clothes. It got to the point that after the age of 10 my grandmother always took me. It was the 80's! I wanted the cool clothes and well as a mom I realize now that the cool clothes don't usually get worn more then a few times.
My favorite part was the new school supplies. Oh the pencils and notebooks. The new backpacks and trapperkeepers. I was prepared for school 3 weeks before it even started! The excitement of the up coming school year! What was gonna happen this year? How had people changed over the summer? Every notebook had the possibility to be the next great novel, or book of poetry. Every unsharpend pencil could be the instrument later used to write the perfect term paper, or love note. lol.
I remember there were kids in some classes who didn't have pencils and always had to "borrow" from the school or other students. The days of "borrowing" from the school are long gone. With budget crunches and cutbacks everyone is hurting. The teachers do the best they can. I know a NUMBER of teachers who BUY extra supplies out of their own pocket so kids won't have to go with out. So please if you can afford to buy an extra notebook, pack of pencils or even a few please do. You can drop them off with me tomorrow or ANYTIME till Aug 1st at ANY Citizens Bank. Thank you! Who know the notebook you donate could end up being to one the next J.K Rowling gets her start with!

I'm trying to raise my son with some understanding that there WAS an earth before he was born. Remember when you were young and wondered what happened before you were born? I'm not teaching him about the stuff he will learn in school, I'm talking the stuff we had to deal with when we were kids, or our parents were kids. Thanks to Mentalfloss.com and the morning cup o links (you really SHOULD be checking out that site!) here is a great article from Wired mag. Ok it's a little on the nerdy side but if your reading my blog well then.....chances are good and your a little "tech" savvy.
I'm PROUD to say my 7 year old son has experienced or knows about 23 of these. In fact for his 5th birthday he got 2 turn tables and every year gets a number of LPs for Christmas. Before you ask, YES they still make records and you can get them at Hot Topic in the mall. YES it's the goth like store. Honestly my straight laced 30 something husband ALWAYS gets glares when he shops there but it's fun to watch!
Last month was The Best of NH party. If you missed it you MISSED it! But so you can pretend you were there hers is a video featuring my celb crush Jimmy Dunn. That is right I will publicly admit I have a crush on Jimmy, in fact I think he knows. Well he knows now doesn't he? Jimmy and I have done a few radio shows together and I just adore him. I think he is funny and handsome, a deadly combination. Oh I'm in this! Ok I am in it for like 2 seconds but still. Don't blink around 4:14 into it or you'll miss me. Actually it's not my best side so go ahead and blink!
7/21/09
Harry Potter rocked the box office over the weekend. I did not see it yet. I'm waiting to see it in the IMAX. When Order of the Phoenix came out I saw it in IMAX and was blown away. So This weekend I'm going to see it. To prepare here is a Mentalfloss.com quiz! Thanks once again to the hard working men and women at Mentalfloss.com one of my favorite websites!
7/20/09
First off over the weekend we lost an icon and a gentlemen. Walter Cronkite. He was what every news person should aspire to be. Class, confidence and humanity. He announced to the world the death of a president while being professional yet human. Mr. Cronkite had a long storied career that in it's self was history making. He will be missed and my hope is that he doesn't get overshadowed because he wasn't the type to be in tabloids. "And that's the way it is"
Second, great weekend! Summer is here, perfect weather yesterday. We took a drive up to the big lake and had lunch at Tbones on the deck. So nice. I highly recommend it. It felt like a mini one day vacation! Enjoy the weather today.
You know what I miss? Harry Potter. What you think I'm crazy don't you. How can I miss something that is EVERYWHERE? Well I miss the excitement of the books. I'm a big reader and when the Harry potter books came out I was addicted. I would be that crazy adult waiting in line for a book. Or on amazon.com pre ordering the book then WAITING by the mailbox on the release date for the book. I miss that! The "what's gonna happen next" excitement. Well I KNOW what is gonna happen next. Will I still go and see the movies, uh yeah! Will I buy the dvd's? YEAH! But I miss the excitement of "oh what's next?"
Last year I recaptured some of that with the Twilight books. Loved the first one, hated the second and third and thought the last one was great. Now I will be waiting for the movies.
So this summer I am trying the reverse. Because of nextflix I have started watching True Blood from HBO. I'm a BIG lover of the HBO shows like Rome, Six Feet Under and of course The Soprano's, so I figured what the hey lets give True Blood a try. I was hooked. BUT only the first season is on dvd and I do not have HBO. So like a vamp hungry for the next feeding I wondered where was I going to get my next fix? BOOKS!!!! Yeah books! True Blood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse books from Charlaine Harris. So this summer I will be sinking my teeth into them. Hopefully it will give me the rush I long for.
Here is my question to you, what is your favorite book series? Next summer I will need a new fixation, so help a sister out! Email me Heather@wzid.com

We are lucky to have some great celebs who haven't forgotten where they came from. I don't know about you but I have heard more then one story about how Adam Sandler has done something wonderful for people in NH. And this Saturday night a local girl who made it BIG will be at the Palace here in Manchester. Tickets are still available http://palacetheatre.org/event-calendar.aspx?event=294&dt=7/19/2009&category=ALL
Some people think she is a little rude, a little harsh. I think she is funny! Plus I love the fact that she remembers where she came from and isn't to big to come back and help out a great cause. This Sundays show is a fundraiser to support New Thalian Players' Theatre in the Park program.
Props to the parents of these two wonderfully grounded celebs!
7/15/09
Happy B day Spongebob! This week is the 10 year birthday of Spongebob Squarepants. I am a self proclaimed expert in all things sponge. In fact my bathroom and Josh's room are both spongified. No lie. We have the shower curtain, the hooks, the nightlight, light switch, toilet seat and even toilet paper hold, ALL spongebob! My HUSBAND and son are responsible for this. I get every other room in the house to decorate on the stipulation they could do those two rooms.
7/14/09
Since it's a gorgous day and we are in doors, here is a little quiz about the outside!
7/13/09
My vacation is over. Back to work! You know how you like to think that they can't seem to go on with out you when your gone? I feel that way this morning, lol. I am back and have a ton of work to do, plus everyone is asking about my trip. It's nice, busy but nice.
As for my "vacation" if your like me and live far away from relatives you know you never really get a vacation. All my vacation time is used to visit the family in upstate NY. It's great change of scenery but it's never really a vacation. 7 hours in a car to get out there. Then traveling around to see all the in laws and family. 7 hours back in a car with a kid asking either, "are we there yet?" or "Can we stop for something to eat?"
We did go to Canobie which was ablast. Then we did yard work Saturday and finally had a vacation like day yesterday! I'm tanned and ready to head back to work, which is good cause it looks like it's been waiting for me!
7/10/09
It's Friday, I'm on vacation! I haven't blogged in a week. Just thought since hubby and Joshie are sleeping still I would jot down a few things. First off upstate NY is pretty this time of year. That is where we spent the last week. Most of the time with out a computer. That is VERY hard for me. Spent some time with the in laws and my grandmother. Saw a dozen wild deer, turkey and a bear. Yes a bear in one of my inlaws back yard. We went to the wilderness. Now we are home and happy to be back where there is internet! I think we may go to Canobie today, depends on if the gys get out of bed! Have a great weekend! I'm back on Monday!
7/2/09
Oh the last day before vacation is always the hardest, isn't it? I have been working hard all week to get everything done and now that most of it is done I'm wondering what I forgot. I know the place won't fall down while I'm gone, but as a workaholic I will worry. Dom will be filling in for me. Your gonna love him. So while I'm a way have a SAFE and fun Independence day!
Here is some great movies (because with the weather lately you know your gonna be stuck inside at least part of the week) that are great indepence movies!
John Adams the mini series from HBO. It's a great series.
The Patriot with Mel Gibson
Independence Day with Will Smith
Here are some Historical ones I LOVE!
HBO's ROME (NOT FOR KIDS, it's VERY VERY GRAPHIC)
Braveheart
Far and Away
Gladiator
Hope that helps! Have a great week!!!!!
7/1/09
Al Frankin won his battle and is off to Washington D.C. This reminded me of the www.mentalfloss.com quiz about SNL.
6/30/09
Missed Best of NH last week? Here is a link to a video of SOME of what you missed. Don't blink or you'll miss me!!
This was the quickest weekend ever. I think it's cause I'm going on vacation next week. Or the fact that I kept myself so busy cause I miss my son. He sent a postcard. It's the best mail I ever got. He is playing and having a good time. That is all I can ask! Short week this week! The count down to the 4th is on! Do you have bog plans? Email Heather@WZID.com.
Your thoughts on Michael Jackson
My favorite memory concerning Michael Jackson is my two sons & I ( they were 4 & 5)
dancing and singing to "Thriller" - over and over and over - acting like the zombies
in the video. We all loved his music and were always excited when he had a new
album, we were always amazed.
There are few music "legends" that truly deserve the name "Icon" - Michael is one of
them - right up there with John Lennon and Elvis.
May his family find comfort in the love of friends, and peace in the love of their God.
Kathie
I just wanted to share my sadness about the sudden loss of music's biggest super
star. I still cant beleive it, i grew up listening, singing, dancing and collecting
everything Michael Jackson. He was so talented. Its so sad that he became such a
tortured soul and I hope he is at peace now. My heart goes out to his family and
friends. He will live on in my heart.
Thanks for the time,
Marisa from Bedford
Thanks for celebrating the life of Michael Jackson with songs of
unforgettable memories. I also grow up with Michael Jackson however a few
years older, my youngest sister is a year younger than Michael, I never
forget when Michael known at the time as the Jackson Five had a great
performance in Jamaica my sister went to the concert and now holds an
autographed photo of the Jackson Five. I was a very good dancer back then
and throughout the years had lots of fun doing the moon walk when necessary.
incidentally I can identify most of his songs to his humanitarian
contribution to the world, so much so I find myself wearing black and white
to work today. The last time I felt this way about a great person passing
was the late JFK I was about 11 years old.
Now Michael is free from all the stress. My prayers and condolence to his
family may he RIP.
Hi Heather,
It's very sad. But as I listen to all these tributes and hear who great he was, etc.
one thing comes to mind.
When was the last time we heard a Michael Jackson song on the radio? Almost never.
It's sad that it's taken his death for him to be appreciated.
Have a great day!
Christine
Hi Heather,
I'm the same age as Michael and I always loved him. I can't believe he's gone.
Anyways, I remember quite a few years ago he was supposed to perform around
here and my brother promised to take me to see him. I never did get that
chance, it was so long ago I can't remember if Michael cancelled or if my
brother forgot to get the tickets. Either way I missed out. But I loved
watching all his videos when they used to play them on MTV. WOW what a great
loss the music world has suffered... That poor guy suffered so much throughout
his life and I always felt sorry for him. Wonder what will happen to his
children now??
Sincerely,
Angela Cruz
P.S. They say it always comes in 3's. I was expecting 2 more after Ed McMann but not
the 2 that did die. Very sad.....
My name is Gerry and yesterday was one of the saddest days of my life. From a small
child I have listented too and loved Michael Jackson. From watching him in the
Jackson 5 grow into the amazing individual that he had become. He brought so much
joy and happiness to my life and helped me in creating some amazing memories. How
could you not just want to get up and dance when you would hear his music or see him
dance. I still cannot believe that he is no longer with us. He was the Icon from
my generation, and there will be no other. My children even love him because they
grew up with Michael in their lives as well. He dealt with so much throughout his
life and yet he still gave so much.
There was thunder last night near my home, and my daughter came to me and said he
was dancing in heaven!
My heart and prayers go out to his children and family.
Hi Heather,
I am really struggling with the loss of Michael Jackson today. Everytime I hear one
of his songs, the tears start flowing again. I cried my makeup off on the way to
work this morning and pray that no one stops in my office today!
I truly hope people remember him fondly and in a positive light.
Lori L. Moone
I remember that in the 80's his video of Thriller was played on MTV
every hour on the hour, brings back memories of my youth!
Thank you,
Debbie Mayo

Best of NH was amazing! You missed the party of the year, I'm still tired!
When I was a child I spent summers at my grandmothers with my cousin. I remember she had this new tape she wanted me to hear. It was Thriller. I had never heard anything like it. I wasn't always a Michael Jackson fan, but I ALWAYS recognized his impact not he music industry and the world. He opened the door for so many. His eccentricities have over shadowed his amazing work over the last few years, but hopefully like is former father in-law they will be forgotten over time. His former father in-law? Elvis. The similarities are a little frightening. Both mega stars who fell from earth after an amazing life. Both from cardiac issues. Both reportedly from drugs. My hopes are that the children are well taken care of and can now have a normal life. Send us your thoughts Heather@WZID.com
6/25/09
Best of NH party tonight! If you haven't been it's amazing. BUSY but amazing. First off if you don't like crowds it is NOT for you. The floor of the Verizon Wireless Arena is packed with over 60 of the best restaurants. Do NOT eat before hand! Plus even if your new to the area your going to see at least one person you know. It's the event for social butterflies and foodies. Can't wait! I'll try to tell you more about it tomorrow! YEAH!

With Josh gone I have had no one to fight me for the remote. (Hubby KNOWS better) So I have been watching ALOT of the Food Network and Bravo. LOVE Top Chef, Food Network challenge and Ace of Cakes. But have I retained anything from these shows? Here is a pop quiz from our good friends at www.MentalFloss.com

Ah! Yup, Ah! So Josh is at grandma's. I decided yesterday that I was going to get a massage. Why? Well I had the time and I needed one. Everyone should get one! Wowsa! I know it can get expensive but go here www.relaxnh.com get yourself a half price cert and go!! Trust me you'll love it. Tonights plan, not sure. Any ideas? Heather@wzid.com

This morning I woke up and watched the news. The whole newscast. Didn't miss a word. It was weird! My 7 year old son is at his grandparents for 2 weeks and the house is silent. No one came running down the stairs to steal the clicker and turn it to some annoying cartoon. No one started telling me some story about cars right when Kevin Skarupa started the weather I wanted to catch. Just me, my husband and the tv. I'm lost.
So I have been looking forward to the "Josh free" vacation, but now I don't know what to do! It started out with a dream list. While he is gone I'm gonna sleep late, walk on the treadmill, eat ice cream for breakfast, clean the house.... you see where I am going. Well after I got home yesterday and he was gone I just sat there. Crying. Yes I cried. 2 weeks is a long time. I KNOW he is loving it and his grandparents love it even more. He needs it! My inlaws live out in the Adirondacks, in a house in the middle of no where. They only get to see him a few times a year. My mother in law plans her YEAR around the beginning of summer vacation when Josh comes to visit. So I know he is having a great time and so are they. Now I am stuck trying to figure out what people do. If you don't have kids what do you do? We went to the movies last night. It felt weird going to the movies on a Sunday night. But we did it because we didn't NEED to get a sitter. We sat there for an hour before we decided to go just looking at each other asking what we wanted to do...We need help! What should we do this week? 1-we can't travel far because we have to work during the day. 2-can't be TO expensive because we are on a budget. Those are the 2 rules....Email your ideas to Heather@wzid.com

Sorry about no blog yesterday. The tech was working on my computer. Here's a friendly tip to computer users, BACK UP YOUR STUFF! Yeah hard lessons learned. Anyway everything is better.
Little sad today. It is my son's last day of first grade. He is growing up so fast! It seems like just yesterday he was a baby. I can't imagine what people who have kids going off to college are feeling! Another piece of advice, if you have kids enjoy the time it goes way to fast.

6/15/09
Monday Monday.....Yesterday was my anniversary. 12 years. I got a tomato plant. Don't be jealous....In all fairness Brian asked me Saturday what I wanted for our anniversary. I told him that after 12 years he should be able to think of something. Remember it's the thought that counts.
So Saturday afternoon I went off to my remote thinking that when I got home I'd have a gift, or a card...no thoughts had come to him...So yesterday morning I did get to sleep in and he did make me breakfast. Then we ran some errands and I saw a tomato plant. Since I am already growing, 4 kinds of peppers and some chives I thought the tomato's would be great so I put the plant in the cart. We get to the check out and I get my ATM card out. He stops me. "No honey I got this, happy anniversary"
Well at least it's something I wanted.

SAPPY ALERT! SAPPY ALERT!!
I wanted to give you a heads up. Today's blog is about my darling husband. Really! He is my darling! Sunday will be our 12th wedding anniversary. A full dozen. I love him more today then I did back then. He has stood by me through job changes, life changes, the birth of our son and my silly quirks. Nothing happens until I tell him. When I got the job here at WZID he was sleeping so I couldn't call him. About 30 people knew but it wasn't true, it wasn't real till I told him. Sure he can be a giant pain in the butt. Then he'll do something, like bring home a half gallon of ice cream, or do the dishes with out being asked. I love my Brian. Happy anniversary!

Do you ever talk to your computer? I'm sitting here trying to download something when one of my co-workers walks by. She sticks her head in and asks who I am talking to......Ummm.... Hal... She looks around, thinking I have finally fallen off my rocker and asks who Hal is. Ummmm....my computer?..... She slowly backs away and I am left to wonder if sitting in a padded room for hours talking to myself has finally driven me crazy. Well that is what I do! Hal is my computer. I talk to him, usually like he is a toddler. Come on Hal, download that today Hal, Oh where did you put that file Hal?! Haven't you ever talked to your computer? Your car? Any object? Everyone I know keeps complaining about the weather this week. People this is normal. As some of you may know I used to work up in the lakes region, where they have bike week. And every year for as long as I remember is has been like this for bike week. Now this year bike week was moved back a week, so in theory next week should be the bad week. Hopefully it will pass us by this week and we will have amazing weather for bike week. If you haven't been up to the Weirs for bike week it's an amazing sight to see. We do not own a bike but I try to go just to check out the gorgeous bikes and see the sights.

It was a wonderful weekend. The boys and I went to Storyland. It was amazing. I think we ate our way throughout the park. Josh is at the age where he really like the rides and is tall enough to go on them now. We have been to Storyland a couple of times before but it one of those places that is great to go to at different ages. When Josh was a todler we stayed mainly in the Story Book land with all the story book characters. When he was 5 he started going on the wooden shoes and loved the tractor ride. Now he wants to go on the Polar Coaster and the Bamboo Shoots over and over. So it was a great time!
Now another week. I am going to keep the survey for this week. What time is to late to call someone? Take the survey or email Heather@WZID.com
6/5/09
It has been a crazy week! I'm glad it's Friday. We are headed up to Story Land tomorrow. I don't know who's is more excited Josh or me. We have been twice before, but there are still a few things we haven't done yet. We haven't done the swan boats, the mine tour, or the imagination emporium. Plus they have a new circus! I can tell you that we will be going on the tractor ride for the 100th time. So come on up good chance that is where you will find us.

MOVIES! I love movies. Tonight join me at Chunky's in Nashua. I have a BUNCH of free movie passes to give away. It's ladies night so girls let the hubby take care of the kids and come out and watch a movie with me!
Today is Anne's last day so I am sad but I wish her the best.
6/2/09
When you think of a radio station staff you think DJ's. Well there are ALOT of
people who work here who you never hear on the radio. One of which is my friend
Anne. I have mentioned her before. If you have won a contest or gone to a promotion
chances are good you have seen or talked to her. Well after many dedicated years of
service here at the station she is leaving. In a good way!
Anne has gotten a new job, we wish her well. I am tearing up just writing this. Anne
has worked hard here doing stuff that you would NEVER even think of. Counting
Herseys kisses in a bucket, putting up tents in high winds, dealing with less then
happy winners. She really has done so much to make us on the air look good. Anne
puts togeather the prizes, updates the website, honestly her list of "jobs" is so
long I can't even cover it all. Anne even does things that arnt her job. Always
bubbly and kind, caring and sweet. I know that she will be a friend for life. OK now
I'm in full blown tears. She will be missed and I just thought that for atleast one
blog she deserves the spotlight. She is the wind beneath my wings... I know it
sounds so corny but she is!
You won't notice Anne is gone because she has trained her replacement Shannon very
well but I will miss her smiling face every morning. So Anne I love you and wish you
the best of luck.

Over the weekend Josh and I saw Disney/Pixars UP. It was amazing! It is a great family movie and a must see even if you don't have kids. It works on so many different levels for so many different ages. Josh who is 7 identified with the 8 year old boy. I identified with the old man. lol. It is a beautiful love story and a touching reminder that life is short. We need to open our eyes and hearts to different people and adventures. I cried.
Graduations! I'm starting to feel old because I know a lot of kids who are graduating this year. Most of them have been my sons babysitters! Some have watch Josh since he was 1 or 2. A few are even graduating from college! You figure if they started watching Josh when he was 1 and they were 13 they would be 19 now. EEEKK! So this weeks survey is what is a good gift for a grad? I remember getting pen sets, a microwave, and money. Yes a microwave, because I was moving away to college. So what is a good gift? Take the survey or email your best grad gifts to me Heather@WZID.com

If Josh is good we are going to go see "UP", if not then I will see it next week when I'm at chunkys. More details on that next week! Let's just say ladies get the hubby to take care of the kids Wed night cause we are going out! If you out and about on Sunday please check this out.

My ribs hurt. OMG! My favorite non thinking show is back. Wipeout! If you haven't seen this show you have to. It is the perfect thing after a rough day. You just can't help falling on the floor laughing. I was sitting on the couch watching the show and my hubby was up stairs trying to get a nap before he did a midnight shift. I was making such a noise he turned on the tv to see what was so funny. Needless to say after 2 mins he was yelling at me to come on up and watch it upstairs.
Why is wipeout the BEST summer tv show? Well unlike the dramas that I watching during the winter I don't have to get involved week after week. If you miss a week all you have missed is the new and different ways the producers have found to make people fall in to water or mud. Jim, Jim and Jill are the only 3 constant people on the show. Jim and Jim sit in a room making comments and finding nicknames for the outrageous people who go on the show. Jill has the pleasure of picking on the people in her fun sarcastic tone to their faces. LOVE it! But I will NEVER go on the show myself. It's a summer MUST see!
5/27/09
Wed? Yeah it's Wed. Had to look there for a second! I don't know about you but my schedule is all messed up. Between the holiday, being sick and no more new episodes of my favorite shows my week is out of wack. We do have the 95 fun days of summer! Which brings me to the survey, what movie are you looking forward to seeing this summer? If I didn't put yours on email me and I'll add it! Heather@WZID.com
5/26/09
Hope everyone had a safe Memorial day weekend! Josh and I went to go see the Night at the Museum 2. LOVED IT! It's a great movie and I love that fact that it gets kids interested in history. Josh fell in love with Sacajawia in the last movie and now wants to go to Washington to the museums! That is great! This weeks survey is about the movies. What summer movie do you want to see? If I didn't put yours on the survey let me know and I will!
Heather@WZID.com
5/22/09
Memorial day. I try to take time everyday to remember those who serve our country. My brother in law is in the air force. My grandfather was a paratrooper on the beach at Normandy. My friend Scott gave is live in Afghanistan last Oct. Not a day goes by that I don't think of them. So in between the BBS and the beach please take some time to remember. If you can thank a vet or service person. And don't forget their family's.
Ok the start of summer is this weekend! Here is my list of things I want to do this summer.
Go to a new movie that is not rated g
Visit Santa's village and Story Land
The Polar Caves and Flume Gorge
Take Josh out on the BIG Lake.
Take Josh to a drive in!
Buy all my fruits and veggies that I don't grow at a farmers market
See a great concert
Take a hike and go camping
See a Fisher Cats game and Wolves game
See my friends (cause we have all been so busy)
What are your ideas?

So I MISSED IDOL!!! I MISSED IDOL! I can't believe it! Here is the reason. I was sick. Broncidous. So I put myself in a nyquil induced coma for 2 days. It was not fun. Bad cough and flu like symptoms. In fact my doctor had me come in to get tested for the swine flu. NOT THE MOST COMFORTABLE TEST! They stick these long q-tips up your nose and down your throat. NOT fun! But I do not have swine flu. I missed Idol. I still can't beleive it. Congrats to Kris.
Why did Kris win? The Gokey factor. All of us Gokeys didn't know who to vote for. So I think a large number went with Kris. Never underestamate the power of the Gokey!
5/18/09
Hello,
You just asked the listeners to email about who you should vote for now that Danny Gokey has been voted off Idol.
I was listening and wanted to just add that you should wait until they perform on Tuesday and then vote for who does the better job, that's how the New American Idol should be chosen.
I was a huge Adam fan but the last couple of weeks he has been to sure of himself and the U2 song would have been much better had he not started the screeching which we all now he can do! Kris's rendition of heartless however was beyond amazing!!
I am going to wait until Tuesday and just see who does the better job!
However Matt Girard was truly my favorite
Thank You,
Diane Town
Adam should win. He does use his falcetto too much, but he is doing what his theater training has showed him to do: giving the fans what they want. They girls all scream when he does that, so he wants to make them happy. Check out his Studio Versions of his songs. His voice is so smooth and effortless. Add that to the theatrics he is capable of on stage and his concerts will always be packed. With a little guidance, he will come to realize that he doesn't need the "High note" to win people over.
Adam will be a Rock Star win or lose.
Vote for Adam!!!

HI Heather,
Just read your blog and the letter from a listener. I did not notice the ad for Adam on Katy's costume. (I have a lousy TV set, if there is writing anywhere it can't be read and faces, well you kind of have to guess who it is)(hint for a contest, new TV). The thing that has bothered me ALL season is this: The judges rake other contestants over the coals for screaming during their songs, but Adam.... he can scream all he wants. And he does. In every song! I swear if ears could bleed, mine would after he hits those notes. I missed Tuesday's show until the recap. My boyfriend was on the computer while the recap was happening. First they showed Danny, then Kris, and lastly Adam. When they showed Adam singing his usual screaming note, my boyfriend turned from the computer and said, "What is that?!" I told him it was Adam the judges favorite. He just said,"He's off key, really bad." Why don't the judges get this?? My boyfriend isn't even musical. Then when Adam was saying what an honor it was to be on the same stage as Danny and Kris, my boyfriend said,"What a kiss up." Now, my boyfriend works nights and doesn't watch Idol, so he has no preconcieved ideas about any of the contestants. He just happened to have this past Tuesday off and was there when I was watching.
My whole workplace was for Danny. No one likes Adam. We were all extremely disappointed in last nights turn of events. I liken this to two years ago when Melinda Doolittle got off in third. She had never been in the bottom three. All that was left was the beat boxer and Jordin Sparks. The beat boxer had no chance of winning, but put Melinda against Jordin and it would have been an interesting final(with Melinda winning I'm sure). That same thing has happened this year. Kris, fairly talented, but no chance of winning and Adam, the judges favorite. The Judges want Adam to win so they stack the deck to make sure he does. So my feeling, everyone who wanted Danny should vote for Kris, many times, to make sure that ADam loses. Or if Adam wins he becomes a Fantasia, a Reuben Stoddard, a Taylor Hicks, someone who wins but whose career goes nowhere.
As for Danny, I just read that Elliot Yamen has a new album out and it was given a decent review. Elliot was third in line.
Just my thoughts and rantings.
Jan Fitzgibbon
Adam deserves to win. His voice and performances will be remembered. He
stands out and is exciting to watch. Kris has a good voice, but not a
memorable one. He is the same old, same old. Only a few of the past idol
winners have been truly successful after the show ended. If Adam wins the
title, I feel he will be one of the successful idols that we will hear a lot
of. Go Adam!
Sharon
Hi Heather…I know you're understandably upset about Danny's elimination but I think he'll do well post-Idol. As a Christian I think he should focus on his gospel roots; at the very least I think his future is in Christian music. I'd buy a Danny gospel CD. I encourage you to vote for Chris over Adam. He is a much more well-rounded musician than Adam, although I admit he doesn't have the pipes that Adam has. Adam had some good moments on the show but toward the end he became very predictable. When his hair was done in the retro/Elvis style you knew he was going to sing a ballad. And did you notice that whenever he performed the stage lighting was different; it almost seemed that the producers were trying to present him in a "starring" role. And no matter what song he sang he always had to include that high register scream! Chris was always very consistently good week to week. Its sort of a "tortois and the hare" story. Go Chris!
Thanks,
Russ

As you can imagine I am not a happy camper this morning. But I have 2 choices. 1- Throw a hissy fit, scream, cry and say I am never going to watch Idol again. 2- I can get over it and move on with my life, plus watch the finally next week. I tried number 1 now I'm on to number 2.
Danny, oh Danny boy. I'm gonna miss you most. See you September. xoxox
Alright I'm ok. I want to take a min and thank everyone who logged on yesterday. We had a record number of hits to the blog and the survey! THANK YOU!!! Let me know what you think of the blog. Heather@WZID.com If you like the blog tell your friends. Link me to your facebook, web site or Twitter! I am on twitter. I'm HeatherBishop, yes no spaces.
So we are down to 2. Adam and Kris. I don't get either one. Tracy Caruso LOVES Adam. She says he has that charisma and can really really sing. Alrighty then.
I asked Anne from promotions why she loves Kris. She said he is a mix of Jason Mraz and Justin Timberlake. It doesn't hurt that he is adorable. Alrighty then.
So I have to vote for 1 of these 2 next week. Help me out! Email me you thoughts on your favorite. I'll post some of the emails! Now it's final 2 people you need to help out if your man is still in it! Heather@WZID.com
here is one to start us off
Well needless to say I am extremely disappointed that Danny went home last night!! I am also disgusted that Simon rallied for Adam and then to see that the Idol people allowed that singer Katy to have Adam Lambert’s name displayed across her cape-well that was just unnecessary!!! I think the show is getting away from the American part and the judges are campaigning for their favorites. It makes me sick and makes me not want to watch the show next year.
Next week I am going to dial as many times as possible to make sure that Chris wins-I will really be disappointed if Adam wins. Chris deserves to be there more than Adam. He definitely gets my vote!

American Idol down to the final 3! So the show starts with... Danny! This was written while watching the show last night.
Danny got Paula's choice.Dance little sister from Terrance Trent Darby. I think Danny should have gone back down an octave. Him in the higher rougher sound is ok but he has been doing it a lot lately.I loved the scat part. He grooved it! Kara didn't like the dancing. Hi its a SINGING competition. Simon said vocally it was good and yes it's a singing competition.
Simon and Paula started grabbing each other after the first song?! Whats with that?! This is getting worse then a sitcom, will they or won't they hook up?!
Kris got a Kara/Randy choice. Apologize from One Republic, seriously?! Hello obvious choice. So not impressed. It sounded to much like the original. I would have loved him to slowed it and Krisafied it. You know him and an acoustic guitar. OMG I wrote that BEFORE Kara said it! Bye bye Kris.
The judges are all full of it tonight! Now Kara is grabbing Simon. Does Kara want the attention or is she finally feeling more comfortable playing around with Simon?
Adam of course got Simon's pick. The song is One from U2. Simon went on to name drop and tell how he had to personally get Bonos permission. Is it me or did Adam look like an elf? His ear pieces stuck out and made him look like an elf. HONESTLY. Yes we get it you can hit the high notes. And WHY, why, why do they have to do the pan around his head when he hits it for more then 10 seconds?! I thought it was alright. I like the original better. Of course Simon loved it. DUH!
Paula's make up is ALL over Simon's shirt.
Danny's back! He picked You are so beautiful. He stripped it down and made it his own. Goose bumps!!! Strings and a guitar player. It didn't really even should like the original. Then it picked up tempo and he got up in his range and showed he can hit the notes to. LOVED it! OMG even Simon loved it and called it a vocal masterpiece
Kris is next because of course Adam is last AS ALWAYS. Kris picked Heartless from Kanye West. I had low hopes. He went acoustic, which is great for him. I can see him with a pop record. It felt more like audition night with him then then final 3. He did well but not top 2 well. Plus I am getting tires of the sly side smile, the "I'm adorable" look is getting boring.
Adam is last. He is ALWAYS last. Ok I get it they want him to win. I get it! Producers want him to win, Simon wants him to win, Tracy Caruso wants him to win. I get it!!!! Just don't shove it down my throat! Crying from Aerosmith. Am I bias? I HATED it. HATED. yes HATED. HATED IT. Oh yeah I hated it!
Kris is going home and Adam will be in the bottem 2. Plus I did something I have never done before. Last night I voted for American Idol. Yes I had never voted before. So it took 30 mins before I go through but I voted! (Danny) So here is hoping the guy I voted for (Danny) will make it to the final 3. (danny) And if he does (Danny) I will vote for him again next week. (did I mention I voted for Danny?)
5/12/09
Tonight's Idol is judges choice. I think it is interesting. My bet is that they are going to choose something slow and soft for Kris. Danny will get something country or AC, or they could surprise us and all give him something with a little soul. Glambert. They could give him the telephone book and he'd do great. Yes I just admitted that Glambert will do well tonight. Contrary to popular belief I do NOT hate Glambert. I just think he has to much polish, to much experience to be "THE" American Idol. When I think AI I think Fantasia, Clay Aiken, Kelly Clarkson. People who were working or going to school before they tried out for the show. Glambert was working as a singer in musical theatre. Plus HONESTLY I think Glambert does not need the help of Idol producers. He has talent and pizazz, where Danny and Kris would NEED someone to tell them what to sing and how in order to make a hit record.
5/11/09
Hope everyone had a great mothers day weekend. Saturday Josh and I went to Grasshoppers where we bought our pepper plants! Jon and Keith are always amazing and the staff so helpful. Chances are good if you stopped by for the landscape remake you did not see us because we got there early and were packed and ready to plant by 10. After that we went to the Currier. Did you know that the Currier is free on Saturdays from 10 till 12? Josh liked it. Of course being a 7 year old boy we didn't take our time on each piece but he did last an hour. Which is an amazing amount of time for him. I will be going back soon with out him! lol.
Mothers day the boys (my husband and Josh my son) took me out to the T Bones breakfast buffet. Lets just say I didn't eat lunch yesterday. So good! Then we went and got some shopping done. When all was said and done I got 2 cards, breakfast, a movie "Love Actually" and a tank of gas. Pretty great mothers day. Plus Brian kept Josh busy so I could lay on the couch and watch the movie! Very good mothers day indeed!
5/8/09
Mothers day is Sunday. It is a bitter sweet holiday. My mother passed 12 years ago this week. I miss her and wish she had had the opportunity to meet my son. I am extremely lucky to have my Grandmother, Mother in law and a good friend who are all mother figures to me. So Grammy love you! Momma Yo love you and thank you for taking me as one of your own kids! Donna your the best thanks for always being there for me and my craziness even though you don't have to.
Now here is my favorite pic of me as a mommy!
5/7/09
Oh my! Allison! You know what? This is GREAT for Allison. She is much to young to be the American Idol. She is only 17. This has been a great experience for her and she learned a lot. Now she can do what she wants to do. Maybe finish school while working on her album. She has a lot of talent and is young Allison will be fine.
Is it me or is Idol not even trying anymore to hide the fact that they prerecord their special performances? Paula was totally pulling a Britney Spears! Did you hear about Britney was in Conn and a crazy drunk man ran on the stage. Int the video you can clearly see her screaming but you cant HEAR her. Hmmm dead mic? Then how was she singing live? There is NO WAY Paula was REALLY singing and it was prerecorded. After the break Paula was back in her original outfit with out a hair out of place. No Doubt had recorded their performance the night before. You can tell because NONE of the judges were in their seats. Anyway....
As for the final 3. here are some thoughts from you.
Terri wrote "I think it's best for Adam if he does not win Idol. His career will fare better without the restrictions of being THE American Idol. (Contract requirements of recording an assigned song and making appearances.)"
I agree!
Diane was upset because she thought for sure that Allison was the best. " Allison was great. Finally choosing a song that rock and fit her voice perfectly. Saw Janice in concert when I was in high school, and believe me she was no copycat. Allison would need to be swigging a bottle of southern comfort and sing MUCH louder. I love Joplin and really enjoyed Allison's lower key style."
Elaine disagrees with me. "There are a lot of good singers out there but I feel the next American Idol also has to have the whole package, like David Cook, to continue in their success. I can tell that you really don't care for Adam, but face it he has awesome vocals, I think the best since I've been watching American Idol all these years. I think if people would just close their eyes and just listen to the finalists sing, we would all agree that Adam is the best."
I predictions....Kris going home next week and Danny will win it. Which also as Terri would say makes Adam a winner too.
5/6/09
First off Cinco De Mayo was awsome! Got my CJ's salsa and Chimmy Chonga and am a happy Heather!
Second.I love Rock and Roll! Lets talk Idol.
First off Adam. Now Adam HAD to start the show because blogger have been complaining that he never has. This is a move by the producers of Idol because ususally who ever goes first get forgotten by the end of the show. Of course that is NEVER the case with Glambert. (from now on Adam Lambert willl be referd to as Glambert.) Led Zepplin. LED ZEPPLIN! Is NOTHING sacred? Nothing?! I love Zepplin. L O V E Zepplin and despite the profuse admoration of the judges, I HATED this horrible remake. He was trying to channel Robert Plant, who by the way is still alive and kicking. The judges did have a whole lot of love for Glambert I did not. Just so you know I am holding back. He has talent, but also attitude and ego.
Young Allison. Who didn't think she was going to do a Janis Joplin song, seriously. It was a remake. And Paula was right, when they make the Janis Joplin bio pic she will be first in line. Hey it worked for Jennifer Hudson didn't it?
Duets?!?! On Rock night no less! Kris and Danny are not rockers. We all know this. But their harmonies on Renegade were spot on. Having no dress rehearsal I think they did a good job. Kris had issues and I worry about Danny's voice if he keeps up the gravel singing voice style.
Now I am going to write something that people may not like. I did NOT think it was fair to give Glambert and Allison so much vocal rest time. Poor Danny and Kris had to do back to back performances while Glambert and Allison had a half an hour of vocal rest time. I just don't think it was fair.
The Beatles on rock night. Ok The Beatles are one of the fathers of rock and roll but I felt Kris could have picked something a little better. Maybe some David Bowie or Eric Clapton. I will admit he is darn cute but after tonight I don't think we will see him around.
Danny picks a really hard song Dream On. I agree with the judges it was OK. I love him but I agree its not his thing. He did alright.
Again I will go back to the fairness question. Why must Glambert always be last? You know why? Because Idol producers want you to vote for him and they want you to watch. Since he is always doing something different, something everyone talks about the next day, good or bad, they want to to stay tuned to see what he will do this week, hence making you watch till the very end. Everyone wanted to see these two rockers together. Plus last is the best because it is freshest in the voters mind.

Hola! Mi amo Heather! Ok that is pretty much all I remember from Spanish class. Happy Cinco de Mayo! Tacos for dinner. Yummy.
Tonight is Rock and Roll on Idol. This weeks "role model" is Slash from Guns and Roses. REALLY!?!? Daughtry will perform on the results show. I think they should have flipped that around. Daughtry could have also given the young Idols advice on being in the finals along with rock music. I really do not understand WHO is picking these celebs to guest on the show.
Quintin Terentino, Slash, Randy Travis? Idol is THE biggest TV show. They could get almost anyone. For example movie week why not Dianne Warren, David Geffen or Bryan Adams. Rock week why not pick oh say a rock singer?! Randy Travis wasn't that bad on country week but I think they could have gone with Big and Rich, Reba, or even Rascal Flats. Someone a little more contemporary
We will see tonight. Honestly a lot of people think that Danny will be the week one tonight but I think it will be Kris saying goodbye.
5/4/09
What a great weekend. Saturday Josh and I cleaned the house. Excited I know. Then Saturday afternoon we went shopping at the outlets. So much fun! Sunday was an early mothers day. All three of us went to breakfast. Then a nap! Yes a 2 hour nap! It was a great day. Funny how a day of doing nothing is a perfect day for me. Which leads me to this weeks survey question. What do you want for mothers day? Or email me Heather@WZID.com

Yesterday was a crazy day! It's not everyday that breaking news happens outside my window. Literally! I was on the air and then one of my coworkers came in and told me to look out my window. WOW! Big billows of smoke where coming from the outside of a building across the street. Thank goodness no one was hurt and the fire department did a wonderful job!
Eats week is over :( It was fun while it lasted. Thanks to Sam and Intownmanchester.com. If you get a chance check out their website. It is full of great things here in the city of Manchester. Thank you to all the restaurants the food was amazing! I can't wait for eats week to happen again.
4/30/09
No it was NOT the swine flu! I have strep throat. That is where I have been for the last 2 days. On my couch with a temp of 102.2. Still a little tired BUT I am no longer contagious and I sound fine so I am back to work with you!
Idol. OMG! Adam was in the bottom 2?!?!??!?!?! I think America is trying to send him the message that he needs to knock his swagger down a step cause he hasn't won this thing yet! They all did a good job. Wasn't impressed with Matt or Allison. Kris is a heart throb! Adams the drama king and Danny. Oh Danny! If I get the chance to meet him when they come to town in September I don't think I can control myself. I'm just putting it out there right now!
4/27/09
What a weekend! WOW! The weather was awesome. Josh and I went on some nature hikes and played at the park. All three of us got ice cream and worked on the yard. So nice. The windows in the house were opened, well the ones I could get to open.I guess this means I really do need to take the studded snow tires off my car now doesn't it.
Bob Marley. I love Bob. He is just a great man. I got a chance to see him before his first show on Saturday night and he was so tired. I got a little worried, but when he got on stage it was electrifying. First off I was so nervous about going out on stage at the Palace. It's an amazing place with a rich history. I think I did alright, honestly I don't remember it. That part is a blur. I sat down after my introduction of George Hamm, who is really really funny. Then almost fell on the floor laughing so hard. Bob was great as always! After the show my friend Kim and her boyfriend Frank and I went to Piccola for dinner. Great night! Just amazing and so much fun.
Lets talk tech for a second. Are you on twitter? If you are I invite you to follow me! go to www.twitter.com and search HeatherBishop that's right NO spaces!

Tracy Caruso getting ready for the International Hair Show yesterday. Let me tell you these ladys did an amazing job. Poor Tracy was getting her hair and make up done from 10 am till 3 yesterday. That girl is a trooper! Most importantly she looked amazing! The hair guitar, yes thats HAIR on the guitar, was not light. It was held up by hair extensions attached to Tracys real hair. She ROCKED!!
4/23/09
I was wrong, kind of. Everyone knew that Lil was going home last night. That is why they got it done with in the first 5 mins of the show. Honestly I could have done with out the disco medley, well Band of Gold was awesome. She still has it! As for Matt being save, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? Really?!?! Anoop went home. It was Allison and Anoop in the bottom 2 and Anoop went home. It is just a matter of time. We all know who the top 3 are. Kris, Danny and Adam.
Can you tell that Paula is almost at the end of her contract? Her being the "mentor" last night was I believe an effort by the producers to make her feel special and wanted. American Idol NEEDS Paula. They NEED that Paula/Simon tension. A lot of people watch Idol just to see what crazy stuff is going to come out of her mouth. If Idol ever lost Simon or Paula ratings would slowly die off. Randy doesn't have the personality to pull off the lead of the judges panel. Sorry but I can hear "dawg" just so many times before I click away. The survey this week is which Idol Judge will NOT be with the show next season and I think your right, it's Kara.
Idol goes disco and does a better job then anyone expected.
Well it did start out a little weak. Lil poor Lil. During the performance I was thinking "karioke" and then Simon said it. The only thing that shocked me here was Seacrest asking Lil about her "inner goddess".
Kris was second and was amazing. The only thing I am going to say negative, and it's not really a negative, is that during the whole performance I was trying to figure out where I have heard the guitar part before. China Grove! The guitar sounded JUST like China Grove. I thought it was good!
Danny! Oh I have professed my love for this man many many times. Again last night he did not disappoint. September is a HARD song, and he rocked it!
Allison did Hot Stuff, which is one of my favorite disco songs ever. I KNOW I'm going to get mad emails about this BUT I can't help it. She is a one trick pony. She turns everything in to a Pat Benatar rock song. I LOVE Pat Benatar but I don't see her in the top 3. Sorry. She will get through this week, but her days are numbered. Send hate mail to Heather@WZID.com
Adam. Paula is in love with him. I thought she was going to climb over the table and attack him! Slow and falsetto. I get it he can sing, BUT like Allison he is a one trick pony. Every week WE KNOW he is gonna go falsetto. You know it. I want to hear him sing 1 song where he DOESN'T go into the "hairband" high notes.
Matt, Staying Alive......no sorry Matt your not.
Anoop going soft. He KNOWS that is what he is good at. Dim All The Lights. It was OK, not great, just OK. But I think he is alive for 1 more week.
Matt and Lil are going home.
4/21/09
Are you ready to disco? Tonight we are going to boogie with American Idol. Honestly I don't think Anoop, Matt and Alli will do well tonight. We will see. My Danny might even have a hard time tonight. What disco song do you want me to play for the Oh wow today? Heather@wzid.com
4/20/09
Patriots day! Over the weekend I finished watching the HBO mini series John Adams. Wicked good! They don't sugar coat his life they tell it like it was. Really really good. If your interested in history at all it is a must see. I find it funny that as I get older I become more interested in history. When I was young my grandmother took me to Washington DC and at the time I remember I was bored, now I yearn to go back. I know I could spend a week or more there and not see everything I want to see. We are lucky as New Englanders. We do not have to travel far to visit history. We live in the cradle of the revolution. So on this Patriots day I challenge you to take a minute to think about our forefathers and what they gave up for our freedoms.
Have a great one!
4/17/09
70 today! Sunny! Enjoy it, I am! Sundress and sandals! Yeah!
4/16/09
Saved?!!? Matt was saved?!?! They didn't HAVE to use the save, but they did. I will remind you that I was right when I picked Matt as the one but wrong in the fact that they would save him. I was shocked. Next week is disco and that will be the end of Matt and .....Anoop. Yep I don't think Anoop can do disco. I think Lil can pull it off but Anoop isn't good at fast songs so we will see!
Let me start with this, Quintin Terentino?!?!? REALLY?!?! I just didn't get that. Note to producers, you wouldn't keep running over time if you didn't keep making those self indulgent videos in the beginning of the show. Just a thought. We are talking Idol!
Oh it was SLOW last night.
Allison, not so good for me. I don't want to miss a thing. To me it felt like she was shrieking at times.
Anoop, I LOVED it. He has a niche for slow songs. I could seriously see myself playing his new songs here at WZID. Everything I do I do it for you. A song that has been played to death and he made it great!
Adam I felt was over done. In fact I was I M ing my friend Dawn, like I do every week during Idol, and I TOLD her that Simon was going to say it was to theatrical. It was like watching a musical at the Palace not a single on Idol. Born to be wild? I think it's all an act.
Matt. Bryan Adams was making some MAD money last night! Have you ever really loved a women. It stank of desperation to me. Bottom 3 and Bye Bye. I THINK he is going home tonight.
Danny. I <3 Danny! He needed a little time to get into it but then he hit a homer.
Kris. Honestly I dozed off. It was slow, it was boring, BUT he is a great singer and will still be here next week BUT this week bottem 3.
Lil I thought did well but is bottem 3, no doubt. Is she going home tonight? No. Here is why. She has the voice, she just needs to step it up. Next week, she will leave, but this week I think Matt is gone.
Tonight's Idol is songs from movies, so I thought I'd pick what I'd like them to sing!
Anoop, My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. Yes I'm serious! I think he could do it very well.
Kris, Rainbow Connection from the Great Muppet movie. I think he could make it amazing.
Allison, Old Time Rock and Roll from Risky Business. Now this is a classic song, but I think she can pull it off and make it a new classic.
Matt, As Time Goes By from Casablanca. I think he could give it a bluesy jazz feel.
Lil, this is her chance at I Will Always Love You from the Bodyguard. She needs to BRING IT if she wants to stay in it tonight.
Danny, Somewhere Over the Rainbow....I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
Adam, so hard to pick a song for him. He could sing anything and make it his own. BUT I would pick Nobody Does It Better from one of the James Bonds woman. He would make it his theme.
I hope everyone of you had a happy Easter. Thanks to all of you who called and emailed me yesterday. Being the wife of an on call firefighter I have learned NEVER to make plans for a holiday. Yesterday is proof why. We thankfully had already eaten and were just sitting down to watch a movie when my husbands pager went off. By now you must have heard about the huge fire up in Alton. My husband along with many many others spent their Easter evening doing what they do best, trying to safe lives and property. Thank goodness only one young man was hurt, a young firefighter. Brian (my husband) was standing just 50 feet from the guy when it happened. Which as a wife you never like to hear that your husband was that close to danger. Brian said that the man will recover but it will take time. Our thoughts are with him and his family today. I ask that if you can thank the wonderful people who even on a holiday, drop everything to come to the rescue.
On a happier note, the weekend was great! I mulched! This year I think I might even try a garden. Plus we saw a moose right down the road form out house. Great weekend. So now I need your help. I have some "mouse/mole" issues. They dug up my yard pretty bad. What is the best way to make it so they don't want to come back to my yard? Does the sonic spikes work? We tried laying down grub killer last year and that didn't work, so if you have any good ideas PLEASE let me know!
4/10/09
Spring! Oh the only bad part of spring is the hay fever. That is it. Everything else I adore. In fact I say that the weather was going to be warm today and I threw on a new pair of sandals. Of course when I first walked out side and it was only 36 I regretted it, BUT when I leave here this afternoon I will be basking in the sun. Just don't look at my feet because I was so excited about a bright sunny warm day that I forgot that I have not yet had my spring pedi, eek winter feet!
Easter is on Sunday. We are low key for Easter. Easter basket for Josh, lots of food, lots of napping. I love holidays like that. Hope yours is great!
4/9/09
It's gonna be a good day! I saw a rainbow on my way in to work. It's not raining, it's a gorgeous day. I looked up and there it was, not very brightly but it was there.
And I WAS right! Who knew?! Scott was a nice guy and had talent, BUT he just isn't THE American Idol. He will do well, he is a very talented musician. Oh what was with Paula's gloves?
4/8/09
Idol, the year you were born. I felt OLD! When Alli sang I can't make you love me, I thought NO I REMEMBER when that came out! I think she did a good job, She is here for a while.
So here is the run down of the rest.
Danny, not his best but still in it!
Kris, not his best, but still in it.
Lil, oh Lil it was nice to know ya! Bottom 3.
Scott, BYE BYE defiantly bottom 3.
Matt rebounded, I think he is safe this week. He is starting to pick up his game.
Anoop, bottom 3 my friend
And Adam, I still don't like him BUT he was the only really smart one. He picked a song that very few people remember, so it was easy to make his own. He is talented.
Bottom 3 Lil, Anoop, and Scott. And Scott should pack his bags. But then again I am never right so we will see
4/7/09
It is very rare that I am shocked by a scripted show. Very rare. In fact my husband says I could write for shows because I can sit there and tell him what is going to happen next, BUT last night I was shocked to my core! House! OMG! Did you watch? I've been a House fan since the start, but lately it's been a bit predictable. Last nights show just blew that out of the water. I DON'T want to give it away in case you have it TVO'd. But it will shack you to the core. And it is shockingly realistic. Plus Meatloaf was on House last night. Now I KNOW I may get hate mail for this BUT I think Meat loaf is a much better actor then a singer. That is a complement! When you see a star sometimes you can't get past the persona of the star. Like Britney, Mariah, or Madonna. You see them on screen and they are well them. But Meat Loaf, I saw him and said wow that is Meat Loaf, 10 minutes later I forgot who he was. He took on the character, he acted, and he did it well. I am just saying that I think he is an amazing actor and I hope he continues with it.
Opening day is today at Fenway! Let's hope take 2 works! Go Sox!!
4/6/09
WOW What a weekend!!!!! Josh lost his first tooth! He went to bed at 7 and was making noise in his bedroom and I kept telling him to go to sleep the he said I CAN'T I PULLED MY TOOTH OUT! So he came downstairs and boom there it was!
The toothfairy came and brought him a whole dollar! Plus cause he did it himself we took him out for breakfast the next day and he got a little matchbox car.
Foxwoods was amazing!!! Our bus, number 6, had the best time. My husband came with us and we had a great time. We ended even so that's good. I always go in to a casino with my "admittance charge". What is that? Well I go with a set amount, say $50. I go in KNOWING that that $50 is gone. It's my admittance charge to go in and chances are darn good it is NOT coming home with me. After that $50 is gone we leave. That way I don't spend more then I can give up. It was amazing and I want to sign up for next years trip RIGHT now!
Then Sunday we went to see Monsters vs Aliens. GO SEE IT! Even if you don't have kids. It's a great movie and one of the few that my 7 year old would sit through. Yup he watched the whole thing and loved it.
I think this one is much worse, I call it the POOF. Could I HAVE anymore hair back there?!?!?!
4/3/09 12:05pm
So my pic scanner isn't working BUT I clicked a pic with my cell phone then sent it in an email! Here it is, the one the promotions staff voted as MY worst hair style. I see nothing wrong with it, but it made them fall off their chairs. It is my wedding announcement photo.
4/3/09
First off I JUST got back from the Easter Seals Walk kick off breakfast. Thanks to them for inviting me! The walk is in June on the 4th in Manchester. Get your team together and help out this great cause!
Well the promotions staff is out back laughing so hard I am starting to worry about them. Why you may ask?! Well I brought in some of my worst hair pics. After they are done having a good chuckle they are going to post my worst one up. Why? Because we want to see yours!!!! To send your bad hair pics go to the WZID.com home page and click on the link, or send them to me and I will forward them. Heather@WZID.com
Get them in cause the contest ends soon and you WON'T want to miss Tracy all done up for the hair show next week!
4/2/09
I admit when I am wrong, I was wrong. Megan did go home on Idol last night and I did not think it was going to be her. I was right about Anoop in the bottom 3. Can I at least have that?
This morning Mike, Tracy and Ed were talking about soaps, and how Guiding Light is going off the air. I am so sad! I remember watching that show everyday after school. No more Spauldings and Coopers?!?!? Did you know that the lead woman on CSI:NY started on Guiding Light? I remember that!!!! I find it shocking that with the high unemployment rates soaps are failing. This leads to to a question. What was your favorite soap? Remember Santa Barbara? Loved it! My ALL time favorite is Days of our lives. Let me know your favorite
What is up with Idol? Either the performances are really good or really bad. Lets start at the beginning shall we.
Anoop......oh Anoop, please stick to love songs. Please!?
Megan Joy.....It was down right painful. I felt like I was at a bar and some poor woman who didn't want to sing, or thought she could sing was up on stage. BUT I think she will stay. Why? Votefortheworst.com. LET ME WARN YOU DO NOT GO THERE IF you are sensitive. It is a very harsh site, and they are asking people to vote for Megan. They have gotten over 4 million hits so it might be working.
Lil, honestly I was not impressed. Yes she has the voice but whole song sounded pitchy to me.
So who did I like? DANNY! Love Danny. Kris! I was worried because "ain't no sunshine" is one of my favorite songs but he saved it and made it great. Adam. I STILL don't like Adam but he has talent. Is it me or does he look like Shawn Cassidy with his hair slicked back? Scott did a great job!
So my pics for bottom 3. Anoop, Matt, and Lil. Who is going home? Matt. Just my thoughts, what do you think? Heather@WZID.com
3/31/09
Do you ever feel like your skipping school if you take a workday off? I did yesterday. I had a floating holiday and my husband had an eye doctors appointment, so I took the day to spend with him. It was nice. I had hoped to do nothing all day but you know that never works. First I slept in till 6 while my hubby got Josh ready for school. Then when he came back we went to the eye doctor. While he was getting checked I went shoe shopping! The best time by far to do shoe shopping is at bout 10:30 on a Monday morning. I felt like I was skipping school. It was so relaxing and quite. Then he was done and we did some more walking around and shopping. Lunch! I NEVER get to go out for lunch on a weekday so it was such a nice treat. Then more shopping. You know little things like Josh needed some clothes and hubby needed some shoes. By the time we were finished it was time to pick up Josh from school. It was a great day, I got to hang out all day with my hubby and it was fun!
Oh first tooth watch is still on. It is VERY wiggly and will be out this week, I think. Thanks to the ladys at the made in NH expo who were asking me about it!
I did realize however that Easter is quickly approaching. less then 2 weeks! So this weeks survey is about Easter!
3/27/09
I got alot of great emails about the tooth fairy but this by far was my favorite.
"Good morning Heather,
My niece Gradeigh is the youngest of four children. There is quite an age gap between her & her sister & two brothers, so she is pretty wise for her age. When she lost her first tootha few years ago, sheleft a dollar under her pillow for the tooth fairy. My sisterwas taken back by this & asked Gradeighwhy she left money for the tooth fairy & Gradeighresponded: “that she wanted to pay the tooth fairy forallherhardwork.” My sister thought this was so sweet & gave her $5.00 for her tooth.
Much to my sister’s surprise,Gradeighthen told my other niece,“Gradeigh’s cousin not sister”, that she figured if she left thetooth fairya dollar thenthe tooth fairy would have to leave herEXTRA money forher tooth!
So lets talk some Idol. I'll admit I was wrong, but I was also a little right. I told you that Megan would not be going home because she is gorgeous, that instead it would be Scott. Even though Scott didn't go home he did place lower then Megan. It could be the Sanjia thing, you know voting for the worst. But honestly I think it is because she is hot. The rough neck went home, but he was smiling all the way. HE EVEN knew it was him. As he stood on that stage next to a devastated Matt, Mike knew his number was up and was grinning from ear to ear. I love that about him.He knew he was just blessed to be there. Plus he knows that he held on long enough to go on the tour. This is perfect for him. Mike has been suffering from missing his wife and girls and now he gets to go home and spend the rest of the season with them until it's time for the tour! So don't feel bad for Mike, cause by the look on his face last night he doesn't feel about it!
3/26/09
Idol Motown edition.
Let me start with Smokey. Was it me or was he just loving everyone last night. He is such a positive person. Him and Paula have enough sunshine to solar power the U S for a week! I do love how Paula tries so hard to find at least one great thing to say to each contestant, even when it's almost impossible. Smokey was just so positive and nurturing.
Hits last night. Adam and Kris
Who is packing up? Megan Joy....oh Megan I fear the party is over for you. As Paula said, she is gorgeous! But will that save her? I am guessing possibly. Mike? He has what I call the "man" factor. Honestly I think he is hot, in that mans man way. Plus he says "ma'am" a lot, meaning a gentle man. So even thought he should go home I think he is safe. So who? Scott. Yes I said Scott! I have not been a fan. I will say he IS AN AMAZING piano man. But his voice really doesn't do it for me. The other 2 have sex appeal which Scott is missing.
Those are just MY thoughts! We will see tonight
3/25/09
Are you suffering from hay fever? I am! I adore spring but I could do with out the hay fever. It got so bad last night I fell asleep at 8. Tonight is Idol and Survivor, so I guess it's a good thing I got some extra sleep last night.
Joshies Birthday on Monday was great. We went out to dinner and had a good time. His tooth is still wiggling, I think it will be another week before we have tooth fairy sightings. Don't' forget to take the survey or email me your thoughts about the going rates for teeth from the tooth fairy Heather@WZID.com

First off, it was so nice to have a 3 day weekend with my boys. My son turns 7 today and didn't want a party. Instead he kept hearing me talk about the MOS and the Aquarium so he wanted to go. So we made a mini vacation of it. Friday morning we went to the MOS. Having never been there we were a bit overwhelmed, but after a few hours felt very comfortable. So much to see and do! Joshies favorite was the simulator. For $5 per person you get this 10 minute ride in a simulator. The man operating the ride was wonderful! There were a group of giggling school girls behind us and he was nice enough to give them their own ride, so we had the simulator all to our selves. Joshie loves roller coasters so we had the galactic roller coaster. Which was both fun and educational! He learned the planets names as we shot through the galaxy. After 6 hours at the MOS we went to our hotel and rested.
Saturday we went to the IMAX. It truly amazes me. These HUGE screens that make you feel like your in the movie. In the beginning it was a little surreal for Josh so he sat on my lap. It was so funny watching HIM watch the movie. As the title came "flyng" out of the screen he kept trying to grab it. After a few minutes he sat by himself and loved it! Then we walked over the the aquarium. I could have spent the whole day just watching the fish in the amazing center tank. In fact at one point we went up to the tip top of the tank, found one of the Plexiglas walls and sat there for about an hour just watching the fish. We were so impressed because if one of the staff walked by they would always ask if we had any questions and Josh always did! All in all it was an amazing and educational weekend in Boston!
We went home after the aquarium and we did nothing all day yesterday! So today is my baby's 7th birthday. I am feeling old. Plus he has his first loose tooth, which leads me to this weeks survey. What is the going rate for the tooth fairy? Take the survey or email me Heather@WZID.com
I was shocked. I thought Mike was going home, but no.
It's going to take me a few days to get over this, so I am going on a mini vacation. That is right. Well I had the mini vacation planned before the shocking news but still. My baby boy turns 7 on Monday so instead of a party he wanted to go to the MOS and the Boston Aquarium and as a parent you know that if you kid wants to go to a museum YOU GO! So have a great weekend, I'll give you all the deets when I get back Monday!

Idol recap! Country music week. Just so you know I love Randy Travis. He is such a classy, nice, wonderful man, who has a lot of talent. I am not saying I am a huge country fan, but I do like some. First off what EVERYONE will be talking about today, Adam and the Ring of Fire. First off I don't care for him because I feel he is trying to be something he is not. He is a professional actor/singer who has been in touring company's of musicals. Meaning he HAS had vocal training and stage training, unlike the rest of the contestants. To me he also seems like he is trying to hard to portray what he feels a rock star should look like. Second, it was a bold choice. It was one of those performances where your either gonna love it or hate it. At first I hated it, but as I hear it again this morning I am starting to love it. The choice and arrangement was a risk but I believe if Johny Cash was alive today he would have loved it. Remember this is the same man who redid a Nine Inch Nails song. Third Paula. Being a music buff I remember, and I am SURE Adam does too, that Paula had a single back in I believe 1994. It was called "My Love Is For Real". Lets just say Adam did some research or remembered the single, because there are A LOT of similarities.
My man Gokey.....oh Danny Boy, you disappointed me so. It seem to me like he just didn't care this week. Like it was a throw away week. He went in unprepared and just a bad song choice. I agree with Paula and if he had sang only 1 verse instead of 2 it would have been a lot better performance. It was like getting on a roller coaster and chugging up the first climb, you know that that greatness is waiting it's just when.
The standouts of the night.....Kris and Anoop!!! Kris and To Make Me Feel My Love. I adore this song. It is from the movie "Hope Floats" and is a Bob Dyaln song. Garth made it a hit and is hard to upstage but I feel Kris did him proud. Anoop.....WHO KNEW?!?!? My heart fluttered when he sang. Anoop?!?!? My ONLY criticism was the hoodie he was wearing. Tingles, honestly and truly I got tingles when he sang. I would buy either one of those singles!!!
3/17/09
Happy St. Paddy's Day! Wearing your green? I have always wanted to go to Ireland, my in laws went for a month last year and said it is gorgeous. Did you know there are more Irish Americans then Irish living in Ireland? So on this St. Paddy's enjoy some corned beef or a tall black and tan, cause everyone is Irish today.
3/16/09
This weekend was gorgeous!!!! WOW! It got me in the mindset of gardening, and of my spring to do list. Do you have rosebushes? If you do start saving your egg shells and coffee grounds. Put them in a plastic or glass container, Then mix them up nice and good. This is a great project for the kids. Right before you mulch put the concoction at the base of the rose bushes, then cover with mulch. It brought my roses bushes to life after they had been neglected for a few years.
It was hard to explain to Josh why he couldn't ride his bike, so we went for a walk instead. With the melting snow our drive way has a big puddle right were he normally rides his bike and it was half ice. He would ride his bike all day everyday if you let him and I think this summer I just might! The hard part is that he still has training wheels and won't let me take them off. Any ideas on how I can talk him in to this? Heather@WZID.com

Fridays are my busiest day. My only saving grace is that my husband is ALWAYS home Friday mornings to get Joshie ready for school. So this morning I'm doing my Friday morning freak out. Paying bills while scarfing down breakfast. Making sure Joshie is dressed and fed. Making a mental list of what I need for the day. Making a mental schedule of what I need to do for the weekend. Basically wrapped up in my own mind, and running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I get ready to go. Do I have everything? Snack, water bottle, purse, lunch, cell phone.........the list goes on and on. O.K. ready to rock!
"Bye guys be good today love you!" as I am running out the door. Then I hear this LOUD
" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" all the sudden I am on the floor! My 60 pound son has tackled me to the ground!
"what?!?!" I whimper.
Then he does something that makes me forget the big chunk of pancake I see under the table, he hugs me and covers me in kisses.
"You forgot my love!" as he looks up at me with those beautiful blue eyes.
No, I NEVER forget your love.
Sometimes we need to be reminded "Don't get so busy making a living that you forget to live" I can't remember who said it but thank goodness I have a 60 pound blue eyed angel to remind me!

Jorge?!?! Really?!?! Come on. I think the rockin robin chick should have gone instead. BUT I don't feel bad for the 2 who left last night and neither should you. Why, well because I feel we haven't seen the last of the 2.
First the young adorable Jasmine. She is YOUNG and adorable don't be surprised if you see her cute face on Disney or Nick. Seriously! Look at Tamyra Grey from season 1, she wasn't even in the top 3 and she has been on a bunch of TV shows.
Jorge. Well Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony have already come out publicly for their love of this guy. He almost didn't make it to Hollywood cause Simon was worried about his English. Mark my words Jorge WILL have a Spanish album out with in the next 2 years. He has talent. Honestly I think the language barrier was a problem for him.
Now in MY personal opinion you don't want to win Idol. Ask Rubin or Taylor. Idol is a great showcase to show to the world a singers talent. Most of the top 13 this season have specific musical talents, like jazz, r and b, and pop. The key is to survive till YOUR specific talent week comes up and then just wow them. I bet we will be hearing a lot of album deals from these top 13.
3/10/09
Dancing with the stars started last night. You have to give props to Holly and Melissa for stepping in at the last minute and doing a great job with so little time. I think the computer guy will be the first to go. I was impressed with Steve O, he might be in it!
Idol tonight! This is were is starts getting really interesting. DANNY!!! DANNY!!! DANNY!!! Can you guess who I am rooting for?
For those of you who live in towns with local elections today don't for get to VOTE! Every vote counts! If you can find the time to vote for Idol, you should find the time to vote for town elections.

I missed all my shows last night. After being in the warm weather all weekend I was so tired. It was so nice to be out and then we wake up to this. Just keep reminding yourself that in a few months we will be complaining it's to hot.
So I was looking at the calender and it's almost St. Patrick's day. Take the survey and let me know what your plans are. I am also looking for a good corned beef and cabbage recipe. NOT FOR ME!!!! I can't stand the stuff but my husband loves it!
Also my Joshies birthday is coming up and we have decide instead of a party we are going to Boston for the weekend. Having not spent a weekend in Boston before we are looking for tips! What is your favorite hotel that's kid friendly? Where is a great place to get a good breakfast with pancakes. Pancakes are a must have!!!!! Let me know. Heather@WZID.com

So much fun!!!! My live broadcast at Citizens bank's new branch was a blast. First off the staff is just amazing. So nice! Plus there was cake, mind blowing balloon animals (no lie, I'll try to get some pics on soon) and money. I went in to the "money cube" so much fun! If you get a chance I highly recommend you stop by Citizens new location on south willow street and say hi.
Don't forget to set the clocks ahead one hour!

Thanks to everyone who commented on this weeks survey. It's a hot topic! Keep it up! The survey will be up till Monday, so feel free to keep checking back. If you want to explain your thoughts email me Heather@WZID.com
IDOL!!!!! Top 13. I got a great email from Terri and I agree with her "I was bummed out to see she has a second chance in the wild-card round! I can't even recall if she's a good singer or not. Her dramatic antics are too much to bear. (Of course, I realize this is exactly why they put in the wild card round.) "
Von made me cringe, which was sad cause I like him. The ones who made it through are great and it's going to be an amazing season on Idol. I still think Paula is not quite right, but we will see. She was just very.......weird last night.
2 stars are out before the dancing even starts!!!! I can't believe it! Jewel is really hurt, and I guess Nancy O'Dell from Access Hollywood is hurt to. Rumors are saying that Holly from The Girls Next Door will be replacing one. I'm not sure who will also join. The curse continues!!!!

I am sharing some more emails today that I have gotten about making up the missed school days.
Tim writes "Saturday school is a bad idea, students need a 2 day weekend and the added costs are huge, such as transportation, heating and manpower. What does it cost the city each day in fuel to transport the students to and from school?
Adding more days at the end of the year is a bad idea also. As we get into July, it can get really hot in the schools and many of the schools have poor ventilation systems which will equate to poor air quality and sick students and faculty.
You could take away April vacation, but I think the students need that week off. And, again, it would cost a lot of additional dollars in transportation and staff.
This leaves us to what I believe is the best option, and that is to extend the school day. If you add one hour to every schools day, you will be making up roughly 1 day a week of missed time. I think this has other benefits to the education of students. The problem we run into here in Manchester is that the teachers have their contract that says they will not work after the last day of June. It also dictates the hours they are allowed to be at the school. I am afraid that no matter how you slice it, at least here in Manchester, the students are going to get the short end of the education ruler this year. We'll see what the state has to say in the end."
Christina wrote "Since families already have plans for vacation time, I would not recommend taking away March vacation time. Another way is to add time at the end of the day. Extend the school day.'
What do YOU think? Email me Heather@WZID.com or take the survey at www.WZID.com keyword survey

This weeks survey is about how to make up the missed snow days. This is something we need to figure out and soon! Joshie is going away for the summer and I need to know when school is over to tell his grandparents. Plus I need to figure out when I need to put in for vacation and all that jazz. If your a parent you know what I mean.
So here are some of YOUR thoughts...
Sue writes "they start school in Sept. (mostly) then have various(as I like to call them) hang nail holidays(like presidents birthday, civil rights day or Martin Luther King Day, among others. Then Thanksgiving, and day after, there are the teacher conferences, or early dismissals, Xmas vacation, February and April vacation then they have Memorial day.
Let's do away with April Vacation since it's to late for February. Then why not start before Labor day to build in extra days if they do not get used up they get out earlier in the summer. Better yet let them go to school 1/2 later everyday and build it in that way!
There are certain things that the kids need to learn in a school years time allowed and if they only touch upon the subject when they get to the next grade level it will have to be taught then start the new grade material. Either those who know the stuff will be bored or if they don't do it many of them will never quite catch up. Get rid of February next year(they can also turn the heat down some in the schools so as to also save money on their budget! But for this year forget April Vacation. The kids whose parents don't send them in April need to attend Summer school to complete their grade requirements!"
Pam says "In MY opinion, the school districts that did NOT get rid of the February vacation missed out on the perfect opportunity to make up all those days! For heaven's sake - the kids and teachers where just on a long break for the HOLIDAYS...is it really necessary for them to have ANOTHER vacation so soon after that?? At this point, taking the April vacation away would be my first choice, but my second choice would be to extend their school day for the rest of the year.
The most important thing to remember is the children's EDUCATION and how to best fulfill that!! "
House was not on last night so I sat on the couch and was going to read a book. It's a good book about the last 2 wives of Henry the IIIV. But anyway I got reading then I realized that the house was to silent, so I turned on the tv. Well lets say I ended up watching that nerdy show on CBS. Not bad, but no House. Idols on 3 nights this week. I am working on our summer vacation I and I think we are going to Pen Dutch country, they have no TVs!
Talking about travel, we are hoping to go to Boston for Joshies birthday. I am looking for ideas on where to stay and what to do with a 7 year old. Let me know Heather@WZID.com
3/2/09
Lets start with Celebrity Apprentice. I love it! Something about the fact that these pampered B list celebs have to get dirty making cupcakes then selling them on the street makes me happy. Maybe I am a little twisted but I love it. Of course Donald does not disappoint in his weird cast of "celebrity's". Denice Rodman, Joan Rivers and her daughter, a playmate of the year, Clint Black, and so many more who are trying to save their last 5 minutes of fame. Now I was a huge fan last year and adored Trace Adkins, which being on the show did help his career. It exposed him to a whole new group of people who don't usually listen to country music, and the single he released while still on the show did very well on the charts. So far this year I am rooting for...wait for it.....Tom Green. Yeah I am shocked too. Tom Green the man know for doing bad things to a dead moose, I am rooting for him? Yes. So far he has put his ego aside, if he even has one, and has been in my eyes the best team player. He wasn't afraid to get dirty and try to keep his team working together, even when you have heavy hitters like Denice Rodman and Andrew Dice Clay "doing their own thing". I won't give away who gets fired, but I will say that person is an ego maniac with out the talent to back it up.
Second the snow......I know. March is coming in like a lion so hopefully will go out like a lamb. I know I need something to smile about so I am sharing my secret weapon. This is a pic of my son a few years ago and no matter what, no matter who, when ever anyone looks at it they giggle. So have a good giggle, it will do you good!

I need an intervention! Please save me from reality shows. Last night I was watching Hells Kitchen, Survivor, and Idol! UGH!! Seriously I can not wait till summer when the tempting reality shows wont be able to get me, cause I'll be to busy outside to watch. I was sad to see Nick/Norman go on Idol last night. The poor guy seems to me like the class clown. You know the guy who acts crazy because he is just so scared to do anything else. Poor pumpkin, I just wanted to give him a great big hug.
When I started this blog just a few short weeks ago I said I wanted it to be "interactive". So on that note I want to open things up. If you have an idea for a survey, want advice on something, or just have something you want to share PLEASE feel free to! Heather@wzid.com
If your shy just tell me you want to be anonymous and I will keep your name out of it. Everyone has been so good about helping ME with my questions, I just want to spread the love. So as always feel free to email em Heather@wzid.com

IDOL!!!!! I was underwhelmed. I have no clue what is the issue. Is it that the contestants are suffering from stage fright? Are they trying to play it safe to get through? I only watched about a half hour last night do to the in laws in town but of what I saw......I do like Nick/Normal Mitchell. He should not be THE American Idol, but he is very very smart. He has some talent but he knows he is not a "pop star" type so he is using his "personality" and I think he will make it another week.
Nick/Norman what ever he wants to be called could be the next big Vegas act or even the next Weird Al. I am a huge Weird Al fan, always have. Think about it, Weird Al has out lasted a large number of artists he has spoofed. Plus he has a good voice and has a very large range vocally. PLUS he is smart and creative. It's hard to rework an already famous song into something you want it to say and make it your own. A few years ago we had the chance to meet him and by the way he is amazing!!!! We had my son who was 5 at the time and it was way past his bed time. Weird Al took the time to meet with us and talked to my son. He ask Joshie what his favorite song was and Joshie told him. Of course it was a song that Al had NOT performed that night and that impressed Al. Then he did something amazing, he apologized. Weird Al apologized to my 5 year old for not performing his favorite song!?!?! Mind blowing. So I am rooting for Nick/Norman this week because honestly we need more celebs who don't take themselves to seriously!

I saw a survey yesterday that said most Americans watch an average of 5 hours of TV a day. 5 hours! Then I thought about it, yeah I watch about 5 hours a day! A half hour in the morning, then from 5:30 till 10. That is not including weekends. Amazing! So I sat on the couch last night and read a book. Of course after 30 minutes I fell asleep, but still I did not watch any TV last night. I am very proud of myself. Now tonight I will be glued to the set because Idol is on, and Thursday I have Idol, Survivor, 30 Rock, Greys and Burn Notice. The ones I miss I will www.HULU.com later. I wonder if the study counted in time watching TV on the Internet?
My son wanted me to remind you that it is National Pancake Week. No lie! He love pancakes and eats them every morning. Banana, blueberry, chocolate chip, or plain he doesn't care he loves his pancakes. So as Joshie would say "have a pancake party" and think about breakfast for dinner tonight.

It's school vacation week, are your kids bored yet? Here is a low cost, non toxic, fun project to keep the kids busy. Who doesn't like play-doh?!?! Honestly, I will play with Joshie when he breaks it out. So big props to Jennifer and her son for this great homemade idea!
PLAY – DOH
2 Cups Flour 2 Cups Water
1 Cup Salt 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
4 Teaspoons Cream of Tartar 2 Teaspoons Food Coloring
In a 2-quart non-stick pot mix dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl mix wet ingredients together. Turn burner on to medium heat. While stirring, slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry. Continue heating and stirring until the mixture ‘gels’ together and forms a ball. Remove from heat and knead with your hands until the dough is smooth in texture. Store in an air-tight container. It will keep up to a year!

Thank you to everyone who came out the the Women's expo on Saturday. It was amazing! If you were there the chances are good that you saw me. I was the crazy woman going around the line before the gates opened asking everybody what their favorite part of WZID is. It was so nice to see the faces of my "co-workers". I call all the people who listen while they work my co workers because we are working together. You may not see me at the desk next to you but you make me a part of your day so I feel like I am your co worker. I love it when I get emails and calls from you, so keep them up!
There was so much to see and do at the expo. I got some hair extensions, ate some great food, got a psychic reading, got a reuse able grocery bag, saw some old friends, met some new friends and most importantly laughed till I almost fell on the floor! Mike and Tracy were so much fun and such good sports. For those who missed it, it was a sight to behold! Mike doing belly dancing and Tracy pole dancing! I am so lucky to work with those guys everyday because they have so much fun and are not afraid to make fun of themselves. I can't wait to see what we do next year!!!
Don't forget to watch Jeopardy! tonight. A kid I used to babysit is on. Yes that makes me feel old, and proud. Jerome Socoloff is his name so hope for big money! Of course he couldn't tell us what or if he won, so I am hoping for the best.
School vacation is here. My son asked me if it was over yet, which I think is a bad sign. What do you to to keep the kids busy during school vacations? PLEASE let me know! My husband is with Joshie this week so we are looking for fun low cost ideas. Heather@wzid.com
2/20/09
First off I am soooooooooooooo excited to meet all of you at the Women's Expo tomorrow! I'm not sure where at the Expo I will be so keep looking for me! It's like Where's Waldo, but with Heather.
Second you HAVE to watch Jeopardy on Monday! A kid I babysat will be on! He is grown up now, but still. I watched him when I was in college, his dad was my professor. I am so proud. His name is Jerome Socolof, so root for him! It is hard to believe that someone I babysat is going to be on Jeopardy. He was always a smart kid so I hope he does well.
2/19/09
Danny! Danny! Danny! I love him and he is an amazing singer. Danny Gokey is moving on up! I will say I was amazed by Tatianna's performance and by her silence during last nights show. I think IF she had not have been such a drama queen in the beginning she would have gotten more votes. I really can not believe I am saying this but I hope she makes it in the wild card round. She really does have talent. My hope is that she learns from this and tones down her ways. We all at one point or another need someone to put us in our place and I think having America not voting for you should send her a big message. Don't forget that Idol is on Wed and Thurs next week. That is so gonna mess with my Thursday! Greys, 30 Rock and Idol.....ugh!!!
How was your commute this morning? Mine was a little rough, just remember be slower be safer. Headlights on and space between. Soon we will be complaining it's to hot!
2/18/09
It has been A WEEK! Yes I know it's only Wednesday! Well Monday I had a great time at Crotched Mountain. So much fun! Then Yesterday I got home and I was so tired that I fell asleep at 6:30. That's is right 6:30 and I missed Idol!!!! I saw online that my boy Danny did well, so I am alright.
The survey question this week has an interesting story with it. Friday Joshie comes home with his bag filled with valentines. I am looking through the bag because he is getting pixie stix sugar all over my carpet and I find a number. A phone number. No name. No valentine. Just a phone number on a small scrap of paper. This is my 6 almost 7 year old boy! Coming home with digits!!!!! So I try to act all cool and I ask him. Oh mom that's (name omitted to protect the little girl trying to steal my baby away) number, she wants me to call her for a sleep over. WHAT?!?!?!? My husband and I both stop what we are doing and stare at each other. A sleep over? "um Joshie you mean a play date right?" "NO mom I want (little son stealer) to sleep over!"
So this is the great debate in our home right now. We have agreed to see what the people say. Joshie is excited because the last survey I did involving him he got his bed time moved to 7:30 from 7. So he is thinking that the people will be on his side again. Am I blowing this up out of proportion? Am I making to much out of this? Let me know, take the survey or email me Heather@WZID.com
Did I mention that the next morning I found 4 grey hairs?

What must the rest of the world think of us? I of course am thinking about the amazing race. The new season give us an amazing variety of "travelers". A deaf traveler and his mom, ex-nfl cheerleaders, short stuntmen, plus the guy who wrote my sons favorite movie "School of Rock".
I love the roadblocks! For those who don't watch the show, try it sometime. Imagine all these crazy Americans running all over the world doing silly things for a million dollars. Like in this seasons premiere the teams had to bungi jump from Europe's second tallest dam and also transport 200 pounds of cheese down a wet steep hill. All of this as the locals watch in their native garb. Ok I don't really think it is their native garb, but costumes the producers think cheese workers in Switzerland should wear. I did think it was a little classless to have the teams find Yodelers in order to find the pitstop( the pitstop is like a mini finish line. If you are the last team across it your team gets the boot). Yet Luke (the deaf contestant) and his mom were the first team over the line.
One of the biggest draws is the stress that traveling can have on these people and their relationships. Many a couple have both bonded and split on the Amazing Race. I honestly could never go on this show with my hubby because we can't even make a car trip to Concord with out getting in to a travel related tiff.
2/13/09
Did you see my quotes in the Hippo?!?!? I hate to admit it but I still get excited when I see my name in print or on TV. Pick up the latest Hippo to read my thought on love songs.
Tomorrow is the V day. I just want to take a second to say happy Valentines day to my hubby Brian. I love you. He isn't know for really big grand gestures. Don't get me wrong he has done some in the past, but it isn't his thing. His thing is the little things. He makes me breakfast when he can. Helps out around the house. Takes Joshie away when I am on the brink so I can have some alone time. It is a million little things that make me love him and he trys to show it everyday. I love him for it, so happy V day honey!
Hope you have a happy Vday too!

I am only going to say a few words about Idol from last night because I am still not happy. First my man Danny made it!! Second his best friend didn't? What the? Third and finally Tatiana drives me crazy and not in a good way. Let me just say I DO NOT agree with the judges on a lot of their choices. That is all I am going to say about that, for now.
I am sitting here waiting for the new Hippo to come out. I was interviewed for a piece about love songs, hopefully it is in there! We will have to see. If you see it before I do let me know. heather@wzid.com
Valentines day is this Saturday. My hubby is working so I am spending the day with Joshie then hubby and I are going to a friends birthday party. Big plans! Sunday I am planning a romantic movie day. Send me your favorite romantic movie. It doesn't have to be the standard fare like Titanic or When Harry met Sally. Let me know what your favorite is and why. Mine is Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightly. The scene when she runs through the rain and he follows her is the HOTTEST scene ever in movie history, and they don't even kiss. The tension is just amazing. I have, no lie, watched that movie over a hundred times. LOVE IT!!!! I also tear up at My Best Friends Wedding. The movie isn't that great but my story about it makes it great. When we first got married I got the flu really bad. I had wanted to see the movie but it was all out at video store, so my hubby went out and bought it for me. At the time we didn't have the money to buy a new video but he did. So I love that movie because of my hubby.
I am looking forward to hearing about your favorite romantic movie and why. Email me at Heather@WZID.com

Did you see last nights Idol? Honestly I do not like the way they let the rooms know if they are staying or going home. I think it is cruel. Think about the fact that these poor kids have been working on 2 hours of sleep. It is their dream to be there. They have given up their normal lives, Friends, family, jobs, lives just to be there for this one chance. Then The judges come in and play with their already strained emotions. I just don't like it. I am sorry, but I don't. You know what else I don't like? Tatiana! Diva in the making. I hope she goes next week, but chances are good they will keep her around for a while just for the drama factor.
On the up side my guy made it through. I knew he would! Oh my Danny boy is going to go far, I hope! The scenes from tonights show looks interesting, but a little reminiscent of Americas Next Top Model. We will have to see!
Don't forget to take this weeks survey and as always email your comments, questions, or funny stuff to me Heather@wzid.com

I am getting my Valentines Day gift today. You would never guess in a million years. Here are some hints. Lights bounce off of it in a glaring way. I stare at it sometimes for hours on end, and it is a rather large purchase. Give up? It is a band new windshield. I know, not so romantic right? Well the way things are right now it is.
Here is the back story. A few months ago I got a chip in my windshield on the passenger side. Tiny tiny chip. Hubby told me to "get it fixed before it spiders." Oh, OK, sure, no problem, I'll do that on my next day off. So as a devoted mother, wife, and employee I am still waiting for a "day off" from all three, or at least two of the three. You hear me don't ya sister! Any why last Friday with all the temperature changes and general wear it decided to spider. I won't lie, it scared the you know what out of me. Here I am on 93 doing 65, of course, when I hear this weird noise. Then the San Andres fault is in front of my face on my windshield! Long story short, a large number of tears, numerous calls and surprisingly no I told you so later I have an appointment for it to be fixed. Today, at my house! Great right? Well yes. See my hubby has the day off today so he is at home getting it done, and has offered to pay for it. So that is my valentines day gift. Not romantic but necessary. So when you are thinking about "the perfect gift" for that loved one this week, think what does he need cause as the Stones once put it "you can't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need." Plus everyday I will now think of my loving hubby when I am driving.

Reality, reality reality. Sometimes it can be alittle too much, but not for me! I LOVE my reality TV shows. Right now I am in heaven. I have Hells Kitchen, American Idol and Survior starts on Thursday. Then some quality time with Trya and the girls as Americas Next Top Model starts soon, Celb Apprentice and Dancing with the stars in March. I love reality shows "realitys", where all they have to worry about is if they will win a million dollars, a new dream job, or a disco globe trophy. Take the quiz and tell me what your favorite reality show is. Of course I could not put them all up, so I put up 9 with the last choice for any others you like or if you don't like reality shows at all. Email me Heather@WZID.com with the names of your favorite reality show of all time. I would have a tough choice between The Player that was on UPN for 1 season, Beauty and the Geek on CW, or The Surreal Life on VH1. Talk about guilty pleasures! Have a good week and don't OD on the "reality" shows.

Hope you are wearing your red! I am. It's wear red for women day to bring awareness the the American heart association. If you need more information check our main page at www.wzid.com
Looks like it is going to be a great weekend. Do you have any big plans? We have to go to a bowling Birthday party on Saturday night for Joshies friend Cassie. By the way Happy Birthday Day Cassie! I love this girl. She is one of Joshies oldest friends. I know he is only 6 and a half. I will always remember how on Joshies first day at a new preschool she came up to him and introduced herself. She ask him if he wanted to play. Then they took each others hands as only 4 year old can and ran off to play like they had been best friends for years. So in honor of Cassie's birthday I put this challenge out to you today, perform a random act of kindness! It does not have to be huge. Start small by smiling at someone in the elevator or holding the door open for a person at the store. If you already do things like that well then great keep up the great work!
2/5/09
This years American Idol will be a man. Bold isn't it? They have not even gotten down to the top 35 and I am already putting it out there. Right now I think it will be Danny Gokey! Thank you to all the people who emailed me yesterday to tell me they knew WHO I was talking about but also could not remember his name. It is nice to know I am not getting old and losing my train of thought. His name is Danny Gokey. His wife died a little while ago and him and his friend, who by the way is also an amazing singer, tried out and made it on AI. I am watching them as top the top 2.
Is it me or did some one let the drama llama lose on the show last night? This is part of the reason I sometimes do not watch Idol till the last few weeks. Bikini girl is gone thank goodness! She showed her true colors last night. I quit, no I don't, it's thier fault I stunk, I am sick and need sleep, yada yada yada. The only one sad to see her go was Simon, wait I take that back. He LOVED watching her walk away. Next they need to get rid of the crazy girl who was in the last group. You know the one, she has the scary laugh. Tatiana? I don't want to remember her name because hopefuly she will be gone next week.
Right now with a few exceptions it looks like it is going to be a great season of Idol! After next week we should have a better look at who is in it to win it, and a lot less people so I don't have to try to remember so many names!
2/4/09
American Idol is heating up! Plus the new Dancing with the stars line up will be announced Sunday night on ABC. They are going to announce one star at a time during thier regular line up. Thats fine I will be watching Housewives anyway. My hope is for some fun stars! I loved Cloris last year, well till half way through and then I felt she was just being crazy for the publicity. The show has grown so big that I hope they get some real stars this year. Make sure you take the survey to tell me what HUGE star you would love to see on the show. If you have any other "wishlist" stars email them and I might switch up the survey on Friday! By the way they have not asked me to be on it yet. :-(
2/3/09
I don't know about you but I am always looking for easy, fun, easy, yummy recipes. Did I mention easy? I am NOT a great cook. Honestly! So I was thinking every Tuesday I could share a new recipe! The big game ones where great so keep them coming. Heather@wzid.com and I will try to post a new one every Tuesday. Plus I will give you full credit when posting the recipe, like the one for today! From the kitchen of Jen Renfors, we give you;
Crab-Stuffed Mushroom Caps
2 12-ounce packages of white-button mushrooms
2 stalks of celery
½ stick of butter
½ tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder or 2 fresh minced cloves
1 can of white crab meat, drained
½ cup of Italian bread crumbs.
3 or 4 large slices Swiss cheese cut into 1 ½ inch squares
Preheat oven to 375°. Wipe mushrooms clean with damp cloth. (Do not run under water) Pop stems off the caps and mince the stems. Mince the celery. In a large skillet, melt the butter until bubbly. Throw in the minced mushroom stems and celery with salt and garlic. Sauté 5 to 7 minutes. Add crab meat and bread crumbs. Sauté until warmed through and all of the butter has been absorbed. Add more butter if mixture is too dry. Add more breadcrumbs if it is too wet. Lay mushroom caps upside down in a large shallow baking pan. Spoon about 1 heaping tsp of stuffing mixture into each cap. . Bake for 20-25 minutes until the mushrooms are fork-tender. Pull from oven and place a Swiss slice on top of each mushroom. Return to oven for 5 minutes. Enjoy!

Thanks the ALL of the wonder people who sent in recipes for their favorite "big game" snacks! I got so many that I might end up posting a recipe a week segment on the blog. Let me know what you think, would you like a new recipe a week? Do you have a great one you want to share? If so email Heather@wzid.com I will post one a week till we run out!
Joshie and I went to a great party for the game, thanks to my friend Tara and her hubby for having us over. My hubby was at work so we did not have a party this year, maybe next year. We did end up going home before the game was over because it was a school night. Joshie was allowed to stay up till 7:30 so he did see part of the game. Honestly I did not see the half time show. I LOVE wipe out so I flipped over to watch that while Bruce was playing. I did see a little bit of his set at the end and it looked good. I am wondering who should they choose for next years half time show? The last few years it has been classic rock artists so if they continue with that theme I am hoping the Eagles, BUT since Fleetwood Mac WILL be on tour and possibly be promoting a new album..... I guess we will just have to wait and see!
Take it easy on this "day after" and remember so of your coworkers will have a HUGE case of the Mondays!

More "Big Game" snack ideas! Thanks and keep them coming! Good luck at the stores today, it is crazy out there!
Cheesy Bread Squares
1 c. Fresh Grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese (pick a good one)
3-4 Scallion, sliced thin
2 dash White Pepper
Enough "Hellmann's Mayo" to hold it together
-Please DO NOT use MIRACLE WHIP (won't taste the same)
Arnold Brick Oven White Bread - NO SUBTITUTING (won't taste the same)
Combine all ingredients except bread & set aside
Set oven racks with one 4" from heat source (second "catch" down) & other in center
Preheat broiler to HI***
Cut crusts off bread & discard
Quarter slices into squares (or triangles if you prefer)
Place squares (triangles) on a baking sheet lined with foil
Top with a "little" cheese mixture in the center (leaving edges exposed)
Broil on top rack until edges are golden (about 3 minutes) - WATCH CARFULLY
Move to bottom rack & cook another few minutes to finish melting the cheese
BON APPETITE
***NOTE - If using an electric oven (heat source <coils> running side to side) then the baking sheet may be placed side to side in the oven. BUT, if using a gas oven (heat source runs front to back) the sheet pan MUST be placed front to back. Otherwise, the outside squares won't brown at the same time as the inside squares.

Jen’s Seafood Chowda (I never really measure anything, so go ahead and wing it!)
5 Potatoes – peeled and cubed to ½ inch pieces
1 medium onion – finely diced
2 stalks of celery – finely diced
Kosher salt & fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
1 tablespoon “Old Bay” seasoning
½ stick of butter.
½ gallon of half & half
1 lb. each (after shucking) of your choice of seafood – Steamed mussels, lobster or clams, shrimp, scallops, haddock, oysters, etc . . . I usually use a combination of 3 kinds. That’s 3 pounds of fish! Yum! Oh, here’s a hint: If you have to precook any of the shellfish yourself, for goodness sake, don’t throw out the broth. Use it to boil the potatoes in.
‘Thickener’ = Equal parts COLD water and flour whisked until smooth. (Start with ½ cup each. You may use more or less depending on how thick ya like it.)
In a large stock pot chuck the potatoes, onions & celery in enough water (or broth) to cover them, plus 1 inch. Add a generous sprinkling of salt & pepper. Dust it all with “Old Bay”. Throw in the butter. Boil the heck out of it until potatoes are fork tender but not yet mushy. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Dump in the half & half. Bring pot back to a simmer. Taste & adjust. Toss in your seafood. Quickly bring back to a boil and add ‘thickener’. Stir, stir, stir, until it’s, what else . . . thick. (It must boil or the ‘thickener’ won’t work) When you hit your desired chowda-like consistency, stop adding ‘thickener’ and shut the damn pot off! Taste and adjust. Do not over cook, (unless you happen to enjoy eating chewy-rubber-band chowda.) Put your hands together over your head, complete a lovely pirouette and take a flourishing bow. Now wait politely for applause. Done!

Big game weekend! I am not a huge football fan but I root for New England. Since they are not in it this year I am going with Philly. My question is what is your best tailgating/football party recipes? Here are a few I got email to me! Keep them coming! Heather@wzid.com
Artichoke Bread Bowl
2 Italian Boule Breads (Italian Bread Bowls)
vegetable oil
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 can (14 ounces) artichoke hearts in water, drained
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Slice off top of one bread boule to create a lid; set lid aside. Carefully remove center of bread round to form a 4 1/2 inch wide and 2 inch deep well for dip. Slice center of first and entire second bread round into 1 inch cubes. Place bread bowl on center of a large pizza pan. Arrange bread cubes around bowl; drizzle with vegetable oil.
In medium sized, microwave safe, bowl, whisk cream cheese until smooth. Add milk to cream cheese; whisk until smooth. Chop artichokes. Add artichokes, soup mix and minced garlic to bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. Microwave on high 5-7 minutes or until hot (do not boil). Stir in lemon juice and sour cream. Pour into bread bowl.
If desired, grate Parmesan cheese over bred bowl and bread cubes. Lean lid against bread bowl. Bake 13-15 minutes or until bread cubes and top of tip are golden brown. Remove from oven and serve immediately.
You can also add 1 box of frozen spinach after it has been well thawed and well drained before heating in the microwave.

Here is Audreys soon to be famous Taco Dip
1 Lb. Ground beef (or turkey, etc)
1 Pint Sour Cream (I use low fat but not Fat Free)
1 Jar of taco sauce (I actually use Enchalada Sauce)
2 Cups of shredded Mexican Cheese
Large bag of Tortilla Chips of your choice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown Beef. Drain Fat. Place in bottom of baking dish or baking pan that is oblong but not the biggest one (sorry – I am at work…not the 9” x 13” but a little smaller). Then top with the Pint of Sour cream. Then top that with the jar of Taco Sauce. Then Top that with the cheese. Bake for about 20 minutes. This is sooooo easy and tasty. My husband and I don’t eat dinner during football games that are on at the dinnertime hour….we make this and it fills us up.

How Josh likes to spend his snow days:
1/28/09
Everyone loves a snow day! Well not EVERYONE, but most people. Remember when you were a kid and the forecast was for snow. The apprehension of wither or not you would have school the next day. The plans you made for that unexpected day off from school work! Oh the plans I used to make! After waking up early and waiting longingly for MY school to be listed on the radio, I would hop back into bed for another hour. Then up for pop tarts and chocolate milk while watching talk shows.
Of course my parents would tell me that I needed to do chores while they were at work, and extra chores since I had too much time on my hands with the snow day. Plus don't forget to look after your little sister! My sister NEVER got out of bed before 3 on snow days so that was never a problem. They would go off to work, calling 3 times a day to make sure we were alright.
Then it was more TV. Maybe some sledding in the back yard. Followed by a snowman, snow angel and of course shoveling the driveway. That was always last. then some reading. Judy Bloom! Oh how her and I spent countless hours together.
The stereo or MTV blasting the entire day.
Lunch! Oh anything that could be nuked was great!
Soaps! That's right I watched soaps. Hope and Bo, The Spauldings, Luke and Laura. I knew them all on a snow day.
One HOUR before the parents were to come home my sister would arise and chores were done in a hurry. It must have looked like elves on Christmas eve. Making sure that the list was check off. They would always walk in just as the vacuum was being put away. We would jump on the couch, trying to look like it had all been done for hours. They would ask "what did you do today". You know the response, "nothing".
Oh how I love a good snow day!

As some of you may know I am a self proclaimed TV addict. Not going to lie! So this last week has been like a late Christmas for me!
30 Rock is back, which by the way is the funniest show on tv! Can't watch it Thursdays because of Greys? No problem! www.hulu.com LOVE THAT SITE!!! You can watch it any time you want! Free!!
Burn Notice on USA is back! Ok this is a show that is a guilty pleasure. I DON'T want to like it but I do! The thing is we never would have even seen the show if we hadn't gone on vacation. My husband and I went away for a few days. If you are parents and you haven't been with out the kid for a while you know what I am about to say is true. We ran out of things to do and talk about. No lie! So we rented a hotel room and watched TV. Sad I know. But that is all I wanted to do for 2 days, besides eat adult food. No mac and cheese, nuggets, or hot dogs allowed! I wanted 2 days of no one screaming at me that he wanted his pancakes NOT touching the syrup. Two days of no deadlines, no creative ideas, no thinking! in order to accomplish this feat. Two days of nothing, that is what I THOUGHT I wanted. After 18 hours I realized that I needed to watch TV, that WE needed to watch TV. After the 10000000 time we asked each other what"I don't care what do you want to do?" We decided to flip on the TV and watch what was ever on, so we found a Burn Notice marathon on USA. We watched it for 6 hours. Normal I wouldn't admit that I lounged in bed for 6 hours straight in the middle of the day, completely healthy but remember it was my vacation and it was a blizzard outside. And YES I do feel the need to justify myself for some reason. When we got home we wanted to watch more Burn Notice, so once again www.hulu.com to the rescue.
Many of my friends have TRIED to get me on the LOST and 24 band wagon since they have started again. Chances are good I wont until the shows are ALL over. I wasn't a fan of Greys until I got "caught up". It drives my husband crazy that I can not start a TV show or a movie in the middle of it. It has to be at the very beginning. So one of these days I will rent the past seasons and get "caught up" with the rest of the world.
Reality TV!!!!!! Oh sweat Gordan Ramsey is back starting Thursday! I <3 him! Hells Kitchen is a MUST in my home!
American Idol is back. I am NOT likeing the bad singers this year. Maybe I am getting old but it seems the judges or producers are just getting more degrading to the delusional. I can not wait till the REAL sinngers start!
I cant watch The Bachalor this season, sorry. You can look for love where ever you need but never bring your little kid on TV and expose him to all these publicity looking women. I PERSONALY can not respect a man who would put his young kid through that. Sorry that is JUST MY opinion.
So what shows am I missing out on? Let me know because I still have Saturday nights right after Cops open, email me Heather@WZID.com

First off thanks to every one who responded! It was amazing. I LOVE it keep it up!
Second, we have decided that Joshie will start going to bed at 7:30. Right after Wheel of Fortune. He is happy as a clam and we think it's a great compromise. Of course he will have a half hour of reading time with lights out at 8. Chances are good he won't stay awake that long but he will feel like he is getting more awake time. We will see how this goes.
Third, I got an email from Robin who could not believe that I had responded to her! Really?! Well I see it this way, if you take the time to respond to one of my ponderings or questions then I should respond to you. Honestly I believe we work together. I may not be physically at the desk next to you, but you have made me a part of your day. I ask for your opinions, thoughts, stories and in turn I share mine! So never be afraid to email or call me! In fact it helps me through MY DAY!
Ok question time. Big game this Sunday, what are YOU doing for it?

Dont you just love that graphic? Big props to my co-workers Karyn and Anne for helping me set this blog up and making the graphic!
That pic is Joshie and me at the ocean. I think it was Portsmouth. He was just learning to walk and we had gone with my friend Christina for a drive on a nice early spring day. Josh was getting antsy so we stopped to enjoy the day at the beach. It was one of those rare moments when the beach was empty. He wanted to run right in but it was to cold so we just stood there with our shoes off and let the waves lap our toes. Christine, thank goodness, was smart enough to bring her camera and got this shot. I love it!
Last night we went to Disney On Ice. It was wonderful! Josh thought it was the best. He was riveted the whole time and infact did not want to leave. I recommend it. My only worry is that we went on a school night so it will be interesting to see how he acts in school today. Thats my question this blog, What time do should a 6 almost 7 year old go to bed? Right now he goes to bed at 7 BUT reads in bed till 7:30 then lights out. We get up at 5:30 every morning to get ready to go to work and the before school program. So what do you think? He thinks 8, I still think 7 and my husband thinks inbetween. Let me know what you think. Heather@wzid.com
