Elton Hoping To Leave Hospital Early Ailing

Elton John has vowed to be back on his feet by next week - because he doesn't want to let his fans down again by scrapping more gigs.

The Rocket Man legend was admitted to hospital on Friday after his flu-like symptoms worsened, with doctors diagnosing the star with an E. coli bacterial infection as well.

He was forced to scrap a series of gigs in the U.K. and Ireland last month, and further postponed plans to take the stage with Billy Joel in the U.S. later this month.

However, Elton is desperate to return to the stage - and wants to be well enough to leave hospital on Monday so he can prepare to perform with Joel on November 14, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.

The scrapped shows in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon are all slated to be rescheduled.
