The second edition of the Manchester Vegan Chef Challenge (VCC) — a fun monthlong foodie event for omnivores and vegans alike — kicks off on May 1st.

Local chefs around Manchester are creating new plant-based dishes, which they’ll feature as specials on their menus throughout the month. The event celebrates community, creativity, and delicious food, while making plant-based eating more accessible for those motivated by animal rights, health, and the environment.

WHERE: Spears Park Trail (Map 7 at concordnh.gov/trails). The parking area is next to 46 Sanborn Road for directions.
WHAT: Join Bob for a group hike along the Spears Park Trails. The hike will include the outer blue loop and parts of the orange and red trails. It will also include the adjacent Richard’s Community Forest loop trail. Plan for about 90 minutes and two miles; easy terrain and mostly flat.

Visit participating Main Street businesses to collect cookies and other sweets from local bakers. Enjoy in-store discounts and offers too.  How it works:

Check in at Wine on Main (9 North Main Street, Concord NH) between 1 and 3:30 pm. and receive a wristband and punch card that lists each stop.

Visit the 5 participating stores and collect the special treat in each location. 1 per ticket. We will mark your punch card when you pick up your goodies. Visit in any order at your leisure, anytime between 1 and 4 pm!

Enjoy additional in-store discounts and offers at the stops along the walk.

Please purchase tickets ahead of time. Bakers are making quantities to match the tickets sold, and walk-in purchases may not be available.

The Downtown Nashua Association presents the Rubber Duck Regatta.  All proceeds will benefit the Downtown Nashua Association’s efforts to improve and revitalize the Downtown Nashua area.

5,000 rubber ducks will be launched by the footbridge between the Clocktower and Cotton Mill Apartments. This beloved community tradition, previously hosted by Nashua Rotary West, finds a new home with DNA this year. Spectators can cheer on the “yellow tide” as it races toward the finish line for a chance at three major cash prizes:

First Place: $1,500

Second Place: $750

Third Place: $500

The parade will start at the Christ the King Parish parking lot on South Main Street at 9 a.m. The route will flow from South Main to North Main to Park Street and back to the city plaza.

The Manchester Veterans Council encourages residents and community organizations to attend as Manchester honors Memorial Day and recognizes the 250th birthday of America. Following the parade, the Council will dedicate the Gulf Wars and War on Terror Monument in Veterans Park.

 Route: Elm Street from Bridge Street to Central Street.

• Road closure: Elm Street will be closed at 7 a.m.; all vehicles must be moved before that time.
