On December 13, 2019 Manchester Police made an arrest in an armed robbery that happened at Best Buy in the Mall of New Hampshire on Thursday (12/12/19).
On that date, it is believed that 27 y/o George Johnson of Manchester grabbed some items from a shelf inside the store and began running for the exit. A Best Buy employee told police Johnson was swinging a knife at him as he tried to keep him from leaving. At that point, the employee stepped out of his way, and Johnson ran toward Huse Road. Police did a K9 track in the area but were unsuccessful. The value of the stolen items was approximately $2000.
Johnson was charged with Armed Robbery and Convicted Felon in Possession of Deadly Weapon. He is being held on a parole/probation violation and likely to be arraigned on Monday (12/16)
“I’m pleased that Johnson was arrested in such a timely manner; he is an absolute danger to the safety of our community,” says Chief Carlo Capano,” I want to thank the public for their assistance and especially thank the men and women of the Manchester Police Department for working so diligently on this case. Johnson is a person that has clearly not learned from his previous mistakes, and he continues to break the law and place the public in danger. We cannot allow this type of behavior to continue, our community’s safety always has to come first.”
