Authorities investigating fatal incident on Merrimack River

HUDSON N.H.- Authorities are investigating the cause of a boating crash on the Merrimack River near Old Sagamore bridge.

Nashua Fire & Police along with Hudson Fire & Police responded to a report of a boating accident on the Merrimack River Sunday at about 5:15 pm.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Erick Machado,31, of Nashua was operating a personal watercraft when he collided with the rear of a pontoon boat.

The impact reportedly knocked Machado into the water, where he was struck by the pontoon boat’s propeller, suffering severe leg injuries.

Machado was pulled from the water but died as a result of his injuries.
