Beyoncé officially unveiled the cover art for her new album. The image is of her sitting side-saddled on a white horse with a red, white, and blue outfit on, holding the American flag.
She’s also wearing white stilettos, a white cowboy hat, and a sash that says “Cowboy Carter”. But it’s her caption of the post that’s really making waves.
She says, “I feel honored to be the first Black woman with the number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart. My hope is that years from now, the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant.”
Beyoncé went on to say, “The album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience years ago where I did not feel welcomed.” No one knows for sure, but people are guessing that it was when she got blowback from a surprise performance at the 2016 CMA Awards.
It sounds like she has some treats in store for us as well, quote, “I have a few surprises on the album, and have collaborated with some brilliant artists who I deeply respect.”
She closed the post by saying, “This ain’t a country album, this is a Beyoncé album. This is Act 2: COWBOY CARTER, and I am proud to share it with you.”
“Act 2: Cowboy Carter” will be released on March 29th. And country music might never be the same again.
