On 10/1/20 at approximately 1522 hours, State Police received a call reporting a motor vehicle crash on I-93 southbound in the town of Windham, NH. The crash involved a New Hampshire State Police cruiser and a 2012 Ford Focus. The Ford Focus was being operator by 72 year old Sharen Marcus of North Andover, MA.
Marcus was traveling in the right lane when the vehicle veered to the right and crashed into the parked State Police cruiser within the right brake down lane. The cruiser had all of its emergency lights activated while on a construction detail in the area south of exit 3 when it was struck.
The State Trooper and Marcus where both transported to area hospitals to be evaluated. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
During the investigation it was learned that Marcus’ license was under suspension and she was driving a vehicle with invalid license plates. Marcus was charged with operating with an invalid license, misuse of plates and reckless operation.
Windham Fire and Rescue, Salem Fire Department, Windham Police Department , Rockingham County Sheriff Office and NHDOT were all on scene to assist as the highway was closed during the crash investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to call Sgt. G. De Luca at 603-223-8830.
