ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire State Police say a pickup truck driver fell asleep as he approached the Rochester Toll Plaza and crashed into an unoccupied toll booth.
Police said 39-year-old Austin Koontz, of Rochester, was not hurt, but his truck sustained heavy damage in the northbound Route 16 crash. It happened at about 3:50 a.m. Friday.
Police said the vehicle impacted a concrete abutment. The truck went airborne, crashing into the toll booth. The toll plaza was open to just one travel lane for about eight hours while workers replaced the toll booth and equipment.
