It’s here! Election Day 2024.
We have results from the midnight tradition of voting in Dixville Notch. Of the six registered voters, for president, three supported Democrat Kamala Harris, while three others voted for Republican Donald Trump. For governor, it was Kelly Ayotte with 5 votes and Joyce Craig got one. And in the 2nd Congressional district, it was Maggie Goodlander with 4 and 2 for Lily Tang.
Most polling places will be opening at 6, including Manchester and the latest places will close at 8 this evening but check with your local clerk for the exact time. Anyone who is a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old and someone domiciled in New Hampshire can vote.
In the Governor’s race, Democratic former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig faces Republican former U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte in Tuesday’s election to replace Governor Chris Sununu. His decision against seeking a fifth two-year term set up one of the most competitive gubernatorial races in the country.
For our congressional delegation, Democratic U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas is running for a fourth term in the 1st District. He faces Republican former state Sen. Russell Prescott. Party control in that district flipped five times from 2006 to 2016. In the 2nd District, that seat is open because Democratic U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster is retiring after six terms. Democratic former White House aide Maggie Goodlander faces Republican activist Lily Tang Williams.
The New Hampshire attorney general has set up a voter hotline to report problems or ask questions. Voters may call 1-866-868-3703 (1-866-VOTER03) on Election Day. The hotline will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. If the caller reaches voicemail, officials say they should leave a message. Emails can also be submitted to the Election Law Unit at electionlaw@doj.nh.gov.
