On September 8, 2021 at approximately 5:40am, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks in Bedford responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 93 North in Manchester at mile marker 19.6, just prior to the exit 6 off ramp. Initial reports from witnesses advised that a motorcycle had struck the rear end of a box truck.

Upon arrival it was determined that a 2006 Yamaha V-Star had cut across several travel lanes and struck the rear end of a box truck. The motorcycle then collided with the guardrail in the right breakdown lane where the operator was ejected, and sustained fatal injuries. The motorcycle then crossed all lanes under its own  momentum, coming to final rest in the center median. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as 28 year old Sean MacDonald of Manchester, NH.

The operator of the box truck, identified as 26 year old Cody Hannaford of Alton, NH, was not injured in the crash and was able to drive the box truck from the scene.

The right travel lane remained closed for approximately two hours while State Police personnel processed the scene.

Assisting New Hampshire State Police were members of Troop G, Commercial Vehicle Unit, members of the Manchester Fire Department and EMS and members from the Derry New Hampshire Department of Transportation. All aspects of the crash are under investigation.
