MANCHESTER, N.H.- Friends and family are remembering Rep. Charlie St. Clair D-Laconia following word he died over the weekend at a hospital in Cleveland Ohio due to heart failure.
The news comes as St. Clair, who also served as the executive director of Laconia Motorcycle Week was recovering from injuries he suffered in a crash earlier this month as he was traveling to the Motorcycle Rally in Sturges.
Following news of his passing the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association released a statement thanking hospital staff for their compassion and care.
A number of elected officials also issued statements following St. Clair’s passing including Sen. Jeanne Shaheen who posted to her Facebook page;
“I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Charlie St. Clair. He was the heart of Laconia Bike Week and a passionate advocate for his community as a State Representative. Billy and I are keeping his family and friends in our thoughts.”
Governor Kelly Ayotte also issued a statement following St. Clair’s death, highlighting both his commitment to public service.
“Rep. Charlie St. Clair dedicated his life to serving the people of Laconia — from serving on the Planning Board to representing the city at the State House. Charlie loved our state and was proud to welcome visitors from around the world to New Hampshire during his 35 years as head of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association. Joe and I are praying for Charlie’s family, friends, and fellow riders as they mourn his loss.”
At the moment neither St. Clair’s family nor the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association have released details on a funeral service.
