MANCHESTER, N.H.- U.S Rep. Maggie Goodlander has decided against running for the U.S. Senate and instead says she’ll run for re-election in 2026.
Thursday’s announcement came after Goodlander’s team informed fellow Democrats of the decision including U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, who recently launched a campaign for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Jeanne Shaheen, and then posted the news to X, and was first reported by the New Hampshire Union Leader.
Later that afternoon Goodlander made an appearance in Salem at a senior housing complex and told WMUR-TV “I feel humbled and grateful to so many people across our state who have encouraged me to take a look at the United States Senate, and after a lot of thought and conversations with people I love and people I respect, and people who I had never met before, who I work for in this role right now, I’ve decided that I’m running for re-election in the House of Representatives.”
Goodlander’s decision now sets the stage for a potential faceoff against Republican Lilly Tang-Williams who earlier this month announced her plans to run in the 2nd Congressional District.
