CONCORD, N.H. – A pair of judges have been assigned to review the case of a Berlin man who ended up killing his wife and himself inside restaurant earlier this month after it was discovered his case was reviewed by the Court Magistrate who also released a man charged in a stabbing in February on Personal Recognizance.

This week State Supreme Court Chief Justice Gordon MacDonald assigned Supreme Court Associate Justice Melissa Countway and Judge Ellen Christo the task of reviewing Michael Gleason Jr’s case and the actions of Court Magistrate Stephanie Johnson who allowed for Gleason to be released on $5,000 bail after he was charged with for kidnapping, sexual assault and theft charges two months before he killed his wife Marisol Fuentes and himself on July 6, 2025.

Johnson’s actions have come into question as her involvement in Gleason’s case marks the second case in which she allowed someone who poses a danger to go free, the first being the case of Kyle Bisson who Johnson allowed to be released back in February on Personal Recognizance after he was charged with stabbing another man in an altercation in downtown Manchester.

Following Fuentes’ death Berlin State Rep. Lori Korzen and Executive Councilor John Stephen of Manchester are calling for Johnson to resign.
