PORTSMOUTH, N.H.- A Lee man charged out of an ordeal which triggered a shelter-in-place order over the weekend has been ordered held without bail.

According to court documents Daniel Ouellet, 47, is facing felony charges for the incident which wrapped up Saturday when he was arrested at an Olive Garden restaurant in Newington out of report he was armed and holding an unidentified woman against her will, which caused authorities to call for a shelter-in-place order.

As prosecutors claim Ouellet forced the woman to marry him against her will, then prevented her from using a phone to contact her family, then told her if she attempted to do so, he would harm them.

Authorities also claim that Ouellet forced the woman drive him around at gunpoint after making claims the pair were being followed by a Satanic cult and that Ouellet grabbed the woman by the wrist when they were in Kittery Maine and cut her wrists as part of a satanic ritual.

Prosecutors also note that police responding to the incident saw cigarette burns on the woman’s legs and that a Satanic Bible was found in Ouellet’s vehicle.

When it came time for Ouellet to offer comment, he denied the various saying forcing the woman into marriage is completely against his religious belief and that he totally believes in free will and that he’s never been aggressive with her in the ways described.

The woman has since been given a protective order against Ouellet who was ordered held in preventive detention.
