A crucial vote at the Statehouse today.
Governor Kelly Ayotte and leaders from across the state are pushing for a bail reform bill that will make changes to the 2018 bail law which has been criticized for letting too many violent and re-offending criminals back on the streets. Some of the proposed changes to bail reform in this bill include getting rid of the need for three strikes for repeat offenders and bail violators to be held. Another change would allow suspects to be held for 36 hours rather than 24 if courts can’t schedule a bail determination on short notice.
