On March 8, 2020 at approximately 11pm, Manchester Police responded to a local hospital for a report of a woman who had been shot at an Orange Street apartment. The victim told police she was hanging out with a man she knew, identified as 46 y/o Luis Mendez. She reported that Mendez had been looking at a gun, and for an unknown reason ended up pulling the trigger. It appears the bullet hit a vase, before hitting her in the face. The victim told officers there had been no problems between herself and Mendez prior to the incident.
An arrest warrant was issued for Mendez for the offense of Reckless Conduct. Mendez turned himself into the Manchester Police Department this afternoon (3/9/2020). Mendez’s court date has yet to be determined.
The victim’s injuries were not life threatening and this appears to be accidental.
