An arrest warrant has been issued for 35 year old Matthew Erwin of Manchester for the charge of Stalking. Erwin reportedly violated bail conditions yesterday, December 15, 2019 when he showed up at a woman’s home whom he had been ordered to stay away from. On December 5th Erwin had threatened to stab her.
Erwin was also arrested in October for attempted First Degree Assault. That incident dated back to July when Erwin confronted a former roommate and tried to stab him. In both of these previous incidents, Erwin was released on PR bail.
Erwin is now wanted one count of Stalking and one count of violating bail conditions.
The fact that Erwin was released on PR bail for both of his previous arrests was concerning to say the least. Here we are only 10 days later and he has committed another crime, “says Chief Carlo Capano,” At some point we have to agree that the current system is not working. Until that day comes, Manchester Police will continue to try to keep the community safe. Our fear is that if things keep going this way, someone is going to get seriously hurt or even killed. This broken system is not holding people accountable for their actions. This isn’t about putting everyone in jail, but rather keeping the public safe from people like Erwin.”
