NASHUA, N.H.- Authorities say two men are dead out of a 2-alarm fire and are now investigating the cause as they believe it may be suspicious.
Around 3:30 Tuesday morning fire crews answered a call for a fire at a building in Foster Square and were greeted by heavy smoke.
Crews ended up pulling one resident from the fire later identified as Scott Thomas,66, and say he was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Once the fire was knocked down crews found the body of a man believed to be Gerald Gutekuns,80, who authorities say Gutekuns has a history with authorities as he was previously charged with arson in Hudson back in 2019 and have reason to believe this fire may be the result of Gutekuns’ opposition to his eviction from the home.
Authorities say autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday.
