CONCORD, N.H.- New Hampshire officials have asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit aimed at gaining access to the state’s voter database.

In a motion Secretary of State Dave Scanlan’s office says they’re protecting voter’s rights and argue that the U.S. Department of Justice is looking to for personal information that the state isn’t allowed to release.

The argument first came to light when the Justice Department asked New Hampshire and a number of other states to submit its voter rolls, in an effort to combat voter fraud, but officials said it’s not a required to or even allowed to share that information.

A review of the matter was scheduled to go before a federal judge, on Thursday but the hearing has now been postponed until April 29,2026.
