USATODAY.COM reports that Target and Aldi are recalling peaches linked to salmonella outbreaks that have sickened 68 people.

The Food & Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating a “multistate outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to bagged peaches,” according to a food safety alert.

As of Wednesday, 68 people from nine states have been infected with the strain of salmonella with illnesses starting between June 29 and Aug. 3. No deaths have been reported.

Consumers should not eat any recalled Wawona-brand bagged peaches that they purchased from ALDI stores in Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin between June 1, 2020 and the present.

Throw the peaches away, even if some of them were eaten and no one has gotten sick.”Many ill people report purchasing bagged peaches sold at certain ALDI stores in several states,” the CDC said in its safety alert. “This investigation is ongoing to identify other retailers that might have sold contaminated peaches.”
