Remains of Manchester Marine killed in World War II identified

MANCHESTER, N.H. –  The remains of an 18-year-old from who was killed in action during World War II have finally been identified.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency made the announcement regarding U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Edgar R. Norcross, of Manchester, who was killed in action March 16, 1945, when the plane he was in crashed.

Pfc Norcross was the radio gunner on the plane.

Norcross’s name is recorded in the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, along with the others who are missing from WWII.

A rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for.

Norcross will be laid to rest in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on July 7, 2026.
