ROCHESTER, N.H.- Residents turned out Tuesday evening for a public meeting on an ordinance that seeks to further define, not only what a data center is, but where they can be built.
Most residents including Mayor Chuck Grassie asked questions and raised concerns over water usage, energy consumption and environmental impacts data centers would have on the area, with a large number of folks voicing their opposition to them being set up in town.
Out of the meeting the ordinance went into effect which prohibits data centers in every zoning district in town, except for the recycling industrial district, which would require a conditional use permit.
