On Monday March 23, 2020 at approximately 07:50 a.m., State Police Troop B Troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a fire in the area of the Exit 5 Southbound onramp of Interstate 93 South.
A roadside investigation revealed that a 2015 Mazda CX-9, driven by 44 year old Rijiena Rongieu of Manchester was traveling South on Interstate 93 when it exited the Exit 5 off ramp. After traveling down the off ramp the Mazda crossed all lanes of Route 28 and then entered the Exit 5 on ramp.
The Mazda traveled a short distance along the ramp until it veered off to the right side and struck a tree. Upon striking the tree, the Mazda quickly caught on fire.

Rongieu was entrapped in the Mazda for a period of time before Londonderry Fire and Rescue were able to extricate her. Rongieu was then flown by a medical helicopter from the scene to Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA with life threatening injuries. State Police were assisted at the scene by the Londonderry Fire Department and the DHART Medical Helicopter Unit.
