MANCHESTER, N.H.- A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit filed by a now former student against the Hillsboro-Deering School District over a search of his vehicle, he claims was unconstitutional, all because that student is a legal gun owner.

An attorney representing the district has confirmed that a settlement, for an undisclosed amount has been reached between former student Jack Harrrington’s vehicle while it was parted on school grounds, which Harrington maintains was all because he’s a legal, law-abiding gun owner.

According to the suit Harrington says back in April of 2025 School officials acting on general information from another student searched Harrington’s vehicle searching for a weapon, after the unidentified student said he overheard Harrington explain to a friend that he was a legal gun owner and was recently pulled over by police and informed the officers that he had his weapon lawfully stored in the glove box of his vehicle, however Harrington maintained that at no time did he ever say he planned to bring to the weapon to school or use it inappropriately, to bring harm against anyone on or off school grounds.

Details of the settlement have yet to be released.
