MANCHESTER, N.H- Prosecutors have asked a judge to deny a request for bail hearing for Erik Conover, the New York man who’s facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly hit a Bartlett police officer with a car this past March.

The call for denial comes after prosecutors say calls that Conover made to his parents while in custody have created doubts over his claims that his mental health issues are to blame for his actions.

According to court documents, Conover reportedly told his parents that he had a plan to get out of jail by just claiming his actions were connected to his mental health and that they should develop an email with an attorney titled “YouTuber has mental health crisis” to gain sympathy.

In April, Conover was granted 30 days in a mental health facility, where his bail was converted to personal recognizance but would revert to preventative detention once it was completed. Now Conover’s attorney has filed a request for an expedited bail hearing, because his term in the facility wraps up on Monday May 19, 2025.

A bail hearing has now been scheduled for Monday.
