CONCORD, N.H.- About 2,000 claims are expected to be filed to a settlement fund for people who said they were physically or sexually abused at New Hampshire’s Youth Development Center and other state facilities.
The deadline to apply for compensation under the fund was Monday, and officials said that by August, they expect that about 2,000 claims will have been made.
Questions remain as to how the state will afford to pay thousands of people who said they were abused while under state care.
