Suspect in two stabbings arrested

Manchester Police have arrested 31 year old Jonathan Vargas ( no home address) and charged him with two counts of First Degree Assault and two counts of Felon in Possession of a Deadly Weapon. Vargas is a suspect in two stabbings that happened in the city in the past 30 days.

On August 19, 2019 around 9:50 pm officers responded to 320 Union Street for a report of a stabbing. A 27 year old man was in the street bleeding from the neck. Upon closer examination it was determined the victim had been stabbed multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital.

On September 12, 2019 at approximately 2 am, police were flagged down by a 27 year old man who reported being stabbed in front of 385 Union Street. The victim had a laceration on his lower back. He too was taken to the hospital.

Witness descriptions of the suspect were similar in both incidents and through their investigation Manchester Police were able to connect Vargas to both crimes.

Vargas was arraigned in Hillsborough Superior Court- North on the above charges and is still being held, pending another hearing.
