Officials said they were called to nearly 80 crashes on NH roadways Thursday morning, including a crash involving two trucks on I-95.
Around 6:12 a.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop-A responded to Interstate 95 in the Town of Seabrook for a report of a commercial motor vehicle crash. Initial on-scene investigation revealed that a 2014 Isuzu box truck being driven by Edwin ORTEGA, age 39, or Lawrence, MA was traveling northbound when he lost control of his vehicle.
After losing control the Isuzu started to rotate into the adjacent lane and impacted another vehicle. This second vehicle was a 2017 Peterbilt with a forty-five foot tank trailer being driven by Peter GOMES, age 62, of Leicester, MA. This impact sent both vehicles into the center median with the 2017 Peterbilt entering the southbound travel lanes. Neither operator sustained injuries as a result of this collision. A portion of Interstate 95 South was closed for approximately 2 hours while the vehicles were recovered from the median.
As a result of this investigation it was determined that speed for the existing road conditions was the main contributing factor in this collision. ORTEGA was additionally found to be driving on a suspended license and was issued a summons for that offense.
