On Friday, July 10, 2020 at around 6:30 a.m., NH State Police – Troop F received an E911 call of a motor vehicle crash involving a commercial motor vehicle on Route 26 in Dixville.
Upon arrival, Troopers found a tractor-trailer unit carrying logs, had overturned in a curve in front of the Balsams Hotel, blocking the westbound lane.
Investigation showed a log truck driven by: 25 year old Alexandre Prevost of La Patrie, Quebec was eastbound on Route 26, when the vehicle crossed over the westbound lanes and rolled over prior to hitting the guardrails separating the road from Lake Gloriette.
The logs on the truck came loose and several ended up in the lake. The driver was able to get out of truck and was uninjured. There was no environmental impact to the lake.
It was determined that speed was the main factor in the crash as the driver was unable to drive safely through the curve.
Troopers from Troop F and Troop G were assisted on scene by Colebrook Fire, Coos County Sheriff’s Department, 45 Parallel EMS and the NH Department of Transportation.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Trooper Jacob Derosa at NH State Police – Troop F, 603-846-3333 or jacob.derosa@dos.nh.gov
