New Hampshire in the Morning

Good Service Comes as Surprise

Being fairly new to these parts I am still making the rounds getting things in order, after all there is a lot to do when you move to a new state. One observation I made that was immediate, it’s how nice people are. It seems like every place I go I am greeted with a “hello” and a smile, not to mention the “thank you” later. I know it may not be a surprise for some but I’m not used to that! Recently I had to get my car registered and get a licence in the state of New Hampshire. Thinking about the way things went where I used to live, I went in ready for long waits and miserable people behind the counter, I am happy to say I was wrong.

My first stop was to City Hall to register my car, I waited maybe three minutes in line and the clerk was very helpful and explained everything I needed to do. When I finished she said I would be getting paperwork in the mail in a few weeks and when I did, come see her and she will take care of everything. She did it all with a smile and didn’t rush me through, this was a breath of fresh air.

My next stop was to the RMV, again I had my defenses up, I expected long lines and an unpleasant person behind the counter. Wrong again, there was a line at the registry but it moved quickly and I was seated and waiting my turn. Now, my experience in the past has been sitting and waiting for more than an hour and usually dealing with someone who would rather be someplace else. This RMV was the exact opposite, I sat for what seemed like 30-seconds and my number was called, I had to look again to see if it really was me they were calling. Once I made it to the counter again, I was greeted with a smile and if something was out of order, I wasn’t scolded, the clerk helped me with a smile on her face. I had my new licence in a few short minutes and was on my way.

I just wish I had the names of the people who made my experience a good one. So many times you hear people complaining about City Hall or the RMV, I thought I would share my good service story and hope you experience the same thing.

Now if I could complain about one thing it would be… thinking I was going to wait in long lines and take for ever, I paid for two hours of parking, when all I needed was less than 45-minutes. I know, huge complaint, huh?

Thanks for the good service and keep up the good work.
