Ms. DeAvilla has the most generous heart of anyone I have met! During the day, she works as a guidance counselor at Strong Foundations Charter School in Pembroke, where she truly takes the time to get to know each and every student. Each year she takes it upon herself to run an Angel Tree program for families in need at the holidays – not only making the tags and matching each child with someone to provide gifts, but she goes above and beyond by also collecting books and blankets for every child. This past year she helped make the holidays brighter for 54 children from 28 local families. She even provided gift wrap, bows, hot chocolate and candy canes for each family! In addition to the Angel Tree, she also coordinated a clothing swap for families in the fall so they could gather clothing and shoes for their children. When she realized that the holiday break was longer than usual this year, she immediately started collecting nonperishable food items to give to families in need to help them keep food on the table during the break. Outside of school, she also volunteers many hours as the Vice President with Concord Kind, a local 501 c 3 nonprofit, and works at the Concord Homeless Shelter. This is something that she is extremely passionate about and often refers to many of the people that she encounters at the shelter as “friends”. She cares deeply about every single human that she encounters and gives her heart to everyone. She has taken it upon herself to gather items for individuals in need, including clothing, boots, blankets and toiletry items. She has even spent holidays providing meals for those in need. She exemplifies the spirit of kindness and is an amazing example to her 2 children and the students at her school. She is also a foster parent. The world needs more people like Kacie!
Her favorite quote is “I am only one, but I am one”.
