Susan Young
Susan Young

Susan Young exemplifies spirit of service, generosity, and leadership that the Outstanding Women of New Hampshire award seeks to recognize. For more than a decade , Susan has dedicated countless hours to strengthening her community through selfless volunteerism, quiet leadership, an an unwavering commitment to others.  For the past ten years Susan stepped forward to oversee multiple scholarship programs when there were no directors available, ensuring that thousands of dollars in scholarships continued to be awarded to deserving students. Her dedicatiion safeguarded opportunities for young people across New Hampshire and demonstrated her deep belief in education and community investment. Susan has also volunteered for the last 6 years as a coordinator for the Concord Christmas parade, a role requiring extensive planning, organization, and time-much of it behind the scenes. In addition, she has volunteered at several 4th of July events including the Merrimack 4th of July parade and helps organize the children’s parade in Andover, bringing joy and tradition to families throughout the region. Her service extends further as a volunteer at Hospital days in New Kondon and as an organizer and supporter of fundraisers for cancer research and the American Heart Association. Susan can often be found volunteering at bingo events, supporting veterans, and stepping in wherever help is needed-without recognition or praise. She is often heard saying “please reach out to me if you need anything or I can Help”. Despite being at a stage of life when many would slow down, Susan currently works two jobs, volunteers approximately 20 hours each week, and remains an active and devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren.  Her energy, compassion and commitment to service are nothing short of remarkable. Susans lifelong dedication to community, her leadership during times of need, and her tireless efforts to uplift others make her an exceptional candidate for the Outstanding Women of NH 2026 award. She represents the very best of volunteerism and community spirit in our state.

Her favorite quote is: “We don’t always remember the day, but we remember the moment!”
