Sylvia has faced challenges in her life that would break most people. Not only did her family experience the nightmare of having a child diagnosed with cancer, but she had two. There were no services available for NH families who had children diagnosed with cancer, I know because my daughter was also diagnosed. Sylvia saw the need and established the Childhood Cancer Lifeline of NH which provides financial and emotional support to families navigating through the journey. She continues to dedicate many hours to the Lifeline as its president. Additionally, she serves others as the director of NH Family Voices. I can think of no one more deserving, although she prefers to fly below the radar.
Her favorite quote is by Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
