We decided to surprise Harriet Perry, WZID’s Teacher of the Month for February (yes, we are a bit late). We love the look of shock, but it’s the sincere look of gratitude that makes these teachers so special and so deserving of being recognized.
Mrs. Perry is more than a third-grade teacher, she is the heart of her classroom and a daily example of what true dedication to education looks like. For these reasons and so many more, she is beyond deserving of being recognized as Teacher of the Month. Every single day, Mrs. Perry walks into her classroom with a positive attitude and a warm smile, ready to give her very best to each of her students. No matter how challenging life in a classroom, or life outside of it, may be, she shows up with patience, enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment. That consistency creates something invaluable for her students: a safe, welcoming environment where they feel seen, supported, and encouraged to grow. What truly sets Mrs. Perry apart is the way she goes above and beyond for every child in her care. She does not teach to the middle; she teaches to the individual. She recognizes that each student has unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles, and she works tirelessly to meet them where they are. Whether it means offering extra academic support, providing encouragement during moments of self-doubt, or helping students navigate social challenges, she is always there. She looks out for each student’s best learning interest and takes the time to ensure no one falls through the cracks. Mrs. Perry also understands that education is strongest when families and teachers work together. She keeps constant communication with parents and caregivers, making sure families feel informed, involved, and valued. Her openness builds trust and strengthens the partnership between home and school, ultimately benefiting every child in her classroom. Perhaps one of the most remarkable aspects of her teaching is the way she brings learning to life. Mrs. Perry makes lessons engaging, hands-on, and deeply connected to real-world experiences.
